Just returned from Nettlecombe farm after a truly wonderful family reunion! Accommodation was perfect and the setting wonderful. There was plenty for the children to do ( they ranged from 1-11years) Will definitely be returning! The kids especially enjoyed going to the spy glass in nearby Ventnor where staff were dressed as pirates!

Nettlecombe Farm is a very well thought out holiday venue, perfect for adults, children and dogs. We stayed in the Heron, a 3 Bedroom, 2 bathroom, well equipped & comfortable stable conversion. Four adults and four dogs (small ones, Terriers) and we all had an extremely relaxing holiday. Well equipped kitchen, separate dining room & lounge. Private enclosed garden with... More

Stayed here with my wife & daughter and had a lovely time. It was my first trip to the Isle of Wight and I loved it. We were looking for a late Summer holiday where we could also have extra rooms for the family who were in tow. Jose is lovely and attentive. We especially liked the animal feeding for... More

Had a cottage at Nettlecombe Farm - just back today . It was perfect for children and adults alike . Barley Cottage was very well appointed and beautifully clean . Three children 12, 4 and 3 loved it - animals to feed, plenty of places to run around and other children to make friends with over the week . Really... More

We had a lovely week here in Heron. Very comfortable and well equipped cottage, setting and views really wonderful. It's easy to get to all the sights and the seaside from here. Lovely sandy beaches in Sandown Bay, not crowded despite peak season and good weather. The animals at the farm are really good fun.

We decided to go here after my sister in law rated it so highly. We wasn't disappointed, we have twins aged 4 and they loved the whole experience, we didn't go out daily and feed the animals as they can be quite shy but we did twice and they enjoyed the experience. The lovely walks after dinner were great. The... More

This was our 4 time staying here in 5 years and me and the family, dog included love it. Josie, the owner greeted us within 10 minutes of arrival and made sure everything was OK. This place is so relaxed, great location to get everywhere and the fishing is good too. Wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island.

We, family of 4, kids 5 and 2, have just returned from a week at Nettlecombe Farm. We stayed in Robin, which was perfectly located as is adjacent to the fenced in playground and very close to the animals. The accommodation itself was clean, spacious and exciting for the kids as they discovered a "secret passage" running from their bedroom... More

It was great to sit outside Wren and watch a buzzard flying/glide above the downs. Fresh farm eggs for breakfast, well done ladies, we also enjoyed hearing your husband crowing..... Thank you Josie, family and team for keeping up the high standards at Nettlecombe and for your friendly and kind welcome..

We spent a week in Oats cottage this year. 3 three adults. although there are a lot of things for children to do here, it doesn't affect the tranquility of the site. Cottage was clean and well stocked with kitchen implements etc. Much better than expected (perhaps you should update your photos for Oats?). Many animals to make friends with.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nettlecombe Farm has been in the Morris family for over a century, and you'll still meet us around the farm today. In the heart of the rolling Isle of Wight countryside, our farm is at the top of a quiet lane half a mile from the sleepy village of Whitwell. Surrounded by green fields and lakes, our luxurious self-catering holiday accommodation is not only safe and comfortable for visitors of all ages and abilities, it's also the perfect base to explore the farm with its friendly animals - or the Islands wider countryside and scenic coastline. Visitors are welcome to explore the farm and meet the animals, and there's plenty of fun to be had at any time of the year. In the Rickyard there is a wide variety of livestock to make friends with - usually chickens, geese, turkeys, pigs, goats, rabbits and even our reindeer ‘Comet & Dancer’. In springtime orphan lambs sometimes need feeding with milk, which can be messy but is always popular! When the kids need to let off steam there is a range of grassed play areas, toddlers play equipment, a big Wendy house, our fabulous wooden tractor and a rustic climbing play facility. For the older children there is a sports area ideal for all sorts of games and football. Our three fully-stocked fishing lakes and of course the farm and nearby countryside is full of places to explore, walk and cycle, and Nettlecombe is a dog-friendly farm too. You might be tempted to enjoy some relaxing yoga at one of our sessions in the modern function barn. Our beautiful rural setting is quiet and secluded, but it's easy to use the farm as a base to explore the beautiful island that is our home. Explore Queen Victoria's country retreat at Osborne House, see where King Charles I was imprisoned at Carisbrooke Castle, or just marvel at the spectacular Needles. Beaches are especially easy to reach from Nettlecombe Farm, from the dramatic shoreline at Compton to the miles of golden sands and seaside amusements at Sandown and Shanklin. We think you will love this part of the Isle of Wight as much as we do. The passing of the seasons and the changing landscape make Nettlecombe Farm worth visiting at any time of year and we are happy to offer short breaks for out of season guests visiting between October & May. We look forward to welcoming you to Nettlecombe Farm... ... more   less
