This place is unlike any other. From the sloths, monkeys, nature hikes through the jungle, snorkeling in one of the most coral reefs right in front of your cabin, to the most friendly hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying with. El Capitan made the stay that much more enjoyable reminding me of my beloved dog back home! If you are even considering this place go ahead and book it it’s an experience of a lifetime!
Wow - a remote and wonderful place to stay. The boat ride through the lagoons. The amazing cabins. The sloths! The food ... Off grid eco tourism at its best. Loved everything about CocoVivo. Highly recommend it...
There is a main cabin in the water were you go to hang out and eat meals, which is really nice for socialising with staff/owners and other guests. Delicious food cooked by Argentinian couple using only local ingredients. We stayed in a fabulous two story cabin with a cool bed the hung from the ceiling. Amazing snorkelling off the main dock and jungle off the back doorstep. We had a lovely afternoon exploring the area by paddle board and kayak.
We had the most beautiful 2 days in Coco Vivo on San Cristobal Island ion Bocas Del Toro province of northwest Panama. Ulrich, Elisabeth and Coleen were so delightful to stay with and made our trip from the 6 of us (incl 3 young children) a dream come true! The eco-friendly property is unlike any other - features the most unique bungalows I’ve ever seen,.… each with screen walls overlooking the beautiful ocean bay. Each room is unique and features a different them or view...beautiful Indian cloths and fabrics, a small kitchen in one of our units. Being "off the grid" everything had to be conserved…think rainwater showered, electricity available but strongly conserved, no AC, composting toilets (very clean and simple nearby). Colleen made us some absolutely delicious meals, from guyanaba smoothies for breakfast, to pork chops, fish, or veggies in the evening. Ulrich treated us with coconuts and one giant "pipa" (coconut) from his nearby far! Elisabeth made us soursop muffins, chocolate mousse from the just purchased Chocolate from nearby Green Acres chocolate farm. The snorkeling right off the dock is some of the best you will see in Panama! Snorkeling gear, kayaks, and SUPS all available for free to see the red starfish everywhere, live beautiful yellow and purple coral, gorgeous jellyfish, snappers and grunts that clean off the "fish washer" food plates in a plastic dunking tray after every meal, and 2 dogs that take care of you and jump in the water with us just as easily as our hosts! All in all, a beautiful, memorable, lifetime adventure!…
We had a terrific time there, and very much regret only booking 2 days. We easily could have spent 4-5 days there, it was SO relaxing. The entire crew there are wonderful people and we loved every second we spent with them. It truly is a special place, and I'm already planning when we can return.
