Detailed Reviews
We booked a flight to Quito and rented a car to go straight to Mompiche, the drive took us about 3 to 4 hours, while enjoying the road trip, we made our plan to stay at the Seaside Garden Ecolodge, and right from the start, their team was very helpful. We arrived a bit late in the afternoon so they assisted us right through the town center to reach the Ecolodge. Driving on the Beach sand was certainly a very nice way to start of the holiday. We stayed the first day at the Lodge, which is a perfect place where to just relax, and enjoy the view and the nature, On the second day, we visited Mompiche and its surroundings, from an amazing beach with black sand to the other sea tours and a natural pool at the sea. Aldo and the Team of the Seaside made our stay just perfect helping us out with every single requirement and may say a great price as well.

We wanted to see the Pacific coast of Ecuador and relax for a few days. This ecolodge was very private with beautiful views of the ocean. The hosts were wonderful and prepared delicious food so you didn’t need to go anywhere for meals, we could just relax and enjoy walks on the beach. The room was clean with a very comfortable queen size bed. The hosts helped us arrange a 3 hour boat trip out to some nearby islands—Jupiter with its huge sand bar and others that had protected mangrove forests.
We couldn’t believe you could just drive on the beach to get to the lodge—but only when the tide was out. The hosts carefully listed the times you could travel so you wouldn’t be taken by the tide.
We highly recommend this lodge and want to thank the hosts, Daniel and Gabriela for giving us such a lovely experience.

We spend 4 days with my family (two teens). It was a great experience. A small hotel , few people and biosafety regulations in place. A beach basically for yourself and in front of you, internet access, cellular data available. The food was amazing and great environment. Clean and spacious rooms. Personnel really friendly. The only thing is that you have to plan ahead when are you coming and leaving because you have to cross a small estuary.

If you are looking for service with attitude, no hot water and flavourless food, then this is the place to go. The rooms are nice, the view spectacular, the weather a bit cloudy, warm, and the surroundings pristine. It is the mix of those elements that makes so difficult to write a bad review.

Good afternoon, we rarely receive a comment of this nature, and usually they have been when they come with a travel agency. We do not advertise the site as a resort but as an ecolodge with certain peculiarities for the same site where it is built but that make it unique by its nature. I invite you to visit our website to see how the site is marketed and the comments of the rest of the clients in recent months. Apparently the agency you booked through did not give enough information. We do not advertise the ecolodge with hot water.

LOVE: Really delicious food, super nice staff, very comfy bed, generally in jungle-beach paradise!
TO KNOW: Showers aren’t hot and there’s currently construction out back so bring earplugs if you sleep light (:
Thank you so much to Seaside Garden! I will return.

Beautiful place to get lost and to be found, comfy close to nature rooms, vibes of harmony between well prepared meals mixed with culture secrets, but most important, Mania and Aldo the creators of this idea.
Hope to see you soon again!

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to get away from it all. The genial hosts give you the opportunity to participate in the preparation of meals in their open kitchen on the ground floor and thereby learn a little about Ecuadorian cuisine.

Our stay at Hotel Seaside Garden Lodge was much more than we expected. It is run by a husband and wife team and although the husband was not there during our stay, his wife, Manja, made our visit a true adventure.
First, Manja opened up the place just for us as they didn’t have any other reservations during the time we stayed there. She and my hubby hit it off instantly as she is Greek and my husband is a retired Ancient Greek Philosophy professor who has visited Greece many times.
During our first night there, she invited me into the kitchen where she and her cooking staff showed me how to make plantains. With dinner, she served the yummiest artisan red ale I’ve ever tasted. Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to find anything even remotely similar back at home.
The next night, they showed us how to make fish the Ecuadorian way, wrapped in plantain leaves, which we cooked on a bonfire on the beach. The meals they served were prepared fresh daily and, in fact, the fish we ate with our dinners was caught during the day by one of the staff.
During our last day there, she arranged for us a tour of a local plantation where the owner grows cacao trees, plantain trees, and many other native fruit trees and flowers. We got to sample sugar cane and see how the local coffee beans are hand-processed before being sold at market.
Our last evening there, we were invited to eat with Manja and her staff, where they pushed the tables together before dinner. Later, she invited hubby and me for cocktails, along with a lone traveler we’d met at Cabanas Las Pigualas just up the beach.
If you’re looking for a remote, seaside paradise on the beaches of Mompiche, this is the place you’ll want to stay.

We stayed at Seaside Garden Lodge with a group of friends after a work acquaintance recommended visiting Mompiche for our vacations. Aldo blew our minds. The rooms were perfect, with incredible beachfront views. The food was amazing, every meal was a gastronomic adventure in itself. The location, a short distance from the village of Mompiche was perfect for serene days and nights, but not too far for us to walk. Aldo helped us find tours to the Jungle with Ramon Cotera (this an incredible tour, and he has local knowledge of the jungle). We also discovered the magic of Playa Negra (do not miss this beach if you are in Mompiche). We also traveled through the mangroves with Boris, a native guide who knows the area like the back of his hand. One night, we jumped into canoes and paddled out to see the bioluminescent plankton. WOW! All in all, we spend two weeks with Aldo at Seaside Garden, and toured around Mompiche and we cannot fault a single thing. Our vacation was absolutely perfect. Thanks, Aldo!
