Walkerbouts Inn has one of the most famous bars in South Africa - called "The Centre of the Universe." This pub is truly famous for it's gathering of wonderful people who love fly fishing, cycling, hiking, birding and enjoy the natural flora and fauna that abound in this beautiful area. On any given night you may meet artists, authors, poets and... More

We had a lovely stay, not least because of the friendly characters we met in the pub – which everyone gravitates towards at one time or another. Nothing was too much effort for the chef and she went out of her way to accommodate our banting needs, which she was surprisingly well clued up on. Expect furniture and amenities dating... More

Rhodes is just a tiny village in the mountains, very quiet as many of the homes are holiday homes. There are no stores and no restaurants. Walkerbouts Inn seemed to be the only game in town. But that was fine with us. We were four on a birdwatching holiday and wanted to see some of the highland birds. The road... More

Thank you for the kind words and it was an absolute pleasure to have hosted you all and am glad that you enjoyed the visit to our corner of the big, wide world. Looking forward to a return visit to see more Drakensberg rockjumpers and better sightings of Bearded vultures. Thanks again and compliments of the comng season to you... More

Staff was very friendly and helpful, good food was served, safe location, room clean. Bed wasn't really comfy would be our ONLY complaint. Very accommodating for when we needed a box breakfast and lunch. Also had a good bar for beer and wine.

I think its a piece of history, as some reviewers have mentioned, a picture of a bygone era... yes Walkerbouts Inn does capture all of that history and charm with historical artefacts to compliment the whole experience. Yes, some say the floors creek and the bed may be a tad noisy...but its not the Hilton and its not NY... no,... More

My family and I stayed in Ash Cottage which is a stunning self catering cottage rented out by the Walkerbouts team. The cottage itself was recently refurbished, was warm and very comfortable, all modern amenities, a Rayburn stove which we loved the novelty of on those cold winter nights and an easy distance from tiffindell ski resort where we spent... My husband I stayed for one night and then for a further three nights. We really enjoyed our stay which was really meant to be a relaxing, do-nothing few days - and that is exactly what we did. We played board games, read books, did a few short walks and drives. Positives: - The main staff were friendly and sociable... More

13 Hours in the saddle and arrived via Naude's Nek at Walkerbouts Inn at 22h00 absolutely exhausted after riding through rain and thick mud. Not anticipating anyone awake at the Inn and really expecting to sleep in a manger, I was delighted beyond measure to find the team not only awake but very much awaiting my arrival with a hot... We had a lovely meal at Walkerbouts Inn. After Xmas crackers and starters, the ladies each received a handmade soap and the men a bottle of their special herbal salt that the owner makes himself. The pub is the only hangout in this town that has been declared a national monument. Well worth a visit. The hotel (that also ran... More

After a long and wet motorbike ride into Rhodes via Naude's nek, we were greatful for the spacious and comfortable bedroom with en suit bathroom in which we could wash the mud and sand off our gear. After we grabber a beer from the Thanshjalot bar we had a warm dinner of butternut soup starter, lamb hotpot main with malva... More
