JP and Hester have created a special homely BnB on Karoo sheep farm just on the outskirts of Nieu-Bethesda. It a great moment in ones life when you find such authentic good people, that enjoy what they do , entertain and engage openly with guests and tell their story with such passion and energy . Great service wonderful home cooked meals is the standard. The personal one on one time with JP in his museum full of fossils that were picked up on the farm is a treat. Well done - we will be back .
A welcome stop over. Only for one night so didn’t have time to explore the caves or rock art. Would be worth a longer visit. Refreshing pool was respite from the heat. Generous hosts, honesty bar, farmstyle cooking. Room was adequate as we had last minute booking and last available room.
it’s off the beaten track, this sleepy nieu-bethesda village. and it’s another 15km to the farm, a green oasis in the wilderness. beautifully furnished cabins/rooms. inviting porch in the main house dating back to 19th century. a lush garden with relaxing pool. charming and welcoming hosts and staff. don’t miss one of the walks around the farms or a visit to the bush men paintings. start the day with their hearty breakfast and top the day with a locally flavored dinner. an overall wonderful african experience.
A lovely place to recharge. JP and Hester are such warm and friendly people who make you feel instantly at home. The room was clean and cosy. Meals were tasty and dinner gives one the opportunity to interact with the hosts and other guests. Really loved the conversations around the dinner table. Beautiful place to walk, feed the lambs, listen to intriguing fossil talk and see the bushman paintings. Nieu Bethesda is a tiny dusty little place that delights with its hidden gems if you want to drive into ‘town’ to see the owl house and the likes.
What an awesome place - unpretentious, friendly and well worth the visit. We enjoyed great food and friendly ambience. The scenery is beautiful and pleasing to the eye. I would highly recommend it and visit New Bethesda while staying here. Most enjoyable
