If you're cash-strapped but want something cool, quirky and characterful, Bethesda Tower (and the charming Priory next door) are well worth-visiting! Friendly staff, warm and cosy lodgings, true small-town Karoo hospitality! Will definitely be back!

Epic road with breath taking views of the Karoo to get to the town of Nieu Bethesda and The Tower. Warm and friendly reception from all the staff, thank you! Very nice food, clean, warm and cozy room within the unique architectural tower design making it stand out as something special. The arts and crafts development that are supported are... More

The staff were amazing and helped us set up a barbeque even though they were under the impression we would eat in the restaurant - we were sorry because the food looked and smelt amazing! Nothing was too much trouble and the whole stay is remembered as one of the best times of our lives.

We are a family and stayed in the top room at the tower. The stairs leading around the tower to the room and the round bed inside made our children feel like in a fairy tale. The whole enclosure is run by an artist community. Take the chance and have a look at their work. Especially at the sewed tapestry... More

We have stayed in Nieu Bethesda before and the Bethesda Tower was by far the most wonderful choice of accommodation. We were caught in a storm after Willowmore right up to Graaff Reinet and through to Nieu Bethesda. The road leading to the town had to be done in the thickest fog at a very slow pace (stepping back in... More

Excellent food! We had the rosemary lamb, that was served with roasted fresh vegetables; which was amazing. The staff were very friendly and eager to help. The bathroom is a bit small. All in all, very good value for money! Will definately be visting again in the future!

Some things cannot fail to enchant the inner child. Sleeping in a tower ranks way up there. Staying in the tower at the Nieu Bethesda Arts Centre was magical. We shuffled in, wet clothing clinging to us during a rare Karoo downpour. stained glass stained glass close The lovely lady who greeted us, brought towels and led us into the... More

We conducted our wedding at the Bethesda Arts Centre and a number of our guests stayed on-site in the Priory and in the Tower. The support of the Arts Centre team for our wedding was just incredible. From when we started planning in January they were very helpful and creative in their input. The event, which took place in October... More

Our family was booked to stay in the Art Centre and Bethesda Tower over the Easter week-end. This should rather be called a back-packers at the lower end of the scale. The rooms were clean enough, but the linen was old and scimpy, with no access to any spare blankets. The 2 bathrooms, which would potentially shared by 8 people... More

We stayed for 2 days during Dec holidays. The rooms are a little bit cramped. but the bed is comfortable. You have to share the down stairs bathroom with other guests, which is okay. There is no kettle or cups in the room. You have to make use of the tiny kitchen where the workers prepare food. It is not... More
