The landlord was friendly and helpful as due to a technical error our room had not actually been booked, but he had one left so we were able to stay there. We ended up with a double room with a shared bathroom...right above the pub rather than in the annex building. We have stayed in pub rooms before and they... More

This has to be the worst place I have ever stayed in. The room was dirty and very tatty but worst of all was the dirty bedding......disgusting. Can't believe they have the cheek to charge £75 for the room.

We stayed here for one night and it is basically an old inn. Consequently the rooms were fairly basic but clean and the beds were among the most comfortable we've slept in. While we didn't have any bar food the meals going out looked excellent and good value and the staff and locals in the bar were extremely friendly. Breakfast... More

So, this place seems to have had some really bad criticism... I spent a night there on the 23rd April, and ok it wasn't perfectly spotless in every way, but come on guys, it was 35 quid! I had a comfy bed, I got a good nights sleep, the wifi was fine, I really enjoyed my breakfast, and all the... More

Place was rather cold and shabby. Staff friendly enough. Food portions very small, chips were excellent, fish was ok, rather expensive for what was on the plate. Barnsley chop was good and not to expensive, however the roast potatoes were very soggy...

£85 a night for, in my opinion a two star room. Room was more like a road side cafe. Very dated, dirty and tatty. We stayed overnight as we were visiting for a friends party in the village and intended to have an evening meal before going onto the party, We had to drive out of the village to try... More

Stayed at this 'hotel' Saturday 30th in room 10. Arrived in the room to find the floor had not even been hoovered!!! We pushed the two singles together to find even more dirt underneath the bed. When we pulled the bedding back- pubic hairs! I ended up sleeping on my coat. Definitely would never stay in this hotel even in... More

2 of my operatives stayed here and they said they were pleased with the rooms and service from the staff. For £35 a night this was excellent value for money. Will use again when next working in the area. At low budget prices don't expect the ritz

The whole place smelt of damp. The bathroom was the worst with copious visible patches of damp on the ceiling and black mold all around the en suite fixtures, fittings & grouting. The lino on the floor was sticky, no bath mat to step onto. The complimentary toiletries had one tube that had already been used!! In the bedroom there... More

Have been visiting The Waggon for years, sadly NOBODY takes charge anymore, hence the place and food has gone down hill terribly...The menu is VERY poor, they no longer offer an Al a carte board, making the food very basic. The Kitchen looks like it has not had a good clean for years! I am amazed the Health Inspector has... More
