We stayed at the dog inn whilst at the re-enactment group christmas do , the room had basic requirements and a well stocked hot drink stand, the bed was well comfy and well made, breakfast was fantastic and set up for breakfast could rival the big chains ! Very friendly .

Whilst over in the U.K. on family business, stayed at The Dog on two separate occasions. Upon arrival I was met by Richard, the landlord and a guest who was staying there. Both helped me with my suitcase and backpack to my room, room 1, a single. No, it was not a large room however, I was there on my...

Just returned after a 3 night stay celebrating our anniversary. Had no complaints at all. We were given a very warm welcome by Ric, the room was nice and clean, grt shower and very comfy bed, b/fast was well worth the £5.00 cooked beautifully by Ric himself. Would highly recomend this great pub b&b. Lots of places to eat just...

Stayed here through business mid week and found a warm welcome in a local pub, with a good pint and a clean (if tired), comfortable room. Rich could not have been more helpful, an the locals were welcoming and friendly (not something I normally say south of Watford :)). What more do you need other than a good night's sleep...

Only stayed one night and I think this is only what would suite me. The bed was very comfortable with a good hot shower and clean sheets. Carpet a little old. Pub underneath, this was quiet this mid-week night.

We stayed with our pets on a Saturday night - turned up to find out they have live music on EVERY Saturday night. This is NOT advertised on booking.com or on their website because if it had we wouldn't have booked her. Room was an okish size, luckily there was just the two of us staying otherwise it would have...

The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Everything for making hot drinks is provided in the rooms. There are plenty of places in town for lunch and dinner. The full English breakfast at the Dog Inn is well worth the fiver.

The Dog Inn (no sniggering please), is a lovely little pink pub, in the beautiful town of Halstead. The town is filled with baskets, tubs, and feeders of the most gorgeous flowers, which have won awards - its an absolute delight, with a good range of shops, and pubs, just be aware the town is on a steep hill !...

Very new management here (of only 6 weeks) - very friendly and helpful, and mentioned that they are about to begin a major revamp of the rooms. Everything that mattered was fine even if the rooms are currently a bit tired - linen and towels spotless, the bed was comfy and the water was hot. Lots of in-room treats like...
