We wanted to go to Merida, capital of Yucatan, for a relaxing week. Then someone knowledgeable suggested to visit Calakmul, a major "detour" if you merely want to drive from Cancun to Merida. Look at the map: Calakmul is not far from the Guatemalan border. And the "Puerta" is

It isn't luxurious, but it is the kind of place you fantasize about when you're a little kid thinking about a cozy, secret cabin in the jungle. Our family of four were lucky to be there when it was dry and relatively cool since there aren't windows, just screens. Yeah, "fresh

This eco tourist-type hotel has it all. Nice rooms that add to your trip experience, a small but nice swimming pool, and a great restaurant with fresh food with a great taste. No better way to experience Calakmul than to start here!

We appreciated the hotel's proximity to the ruins, although be prepared for at least a 1 1/2 hour drive from the hotel/entrance kiosk to the actual site. The road is extremely potholed with some holes so deep your car would be toast if you drove into them. That being said, it

We're a family of 4 (kids 7&9) and we've been to this hotel mid August. Since most of the other travelers gave all the general info, I'll concentrate on the kids part. The bungalows are nice, well furnished and with enough space (we had 2 double beds and one single), although a

Sehr schönes Zimmer und tolles Essen! Sehr nettes Personal!
Hello there. We loved this hotel and I highly recommend it (but think 4 days is more than enough time there). I know that there is WIFI in the restaurant. You may want to check with the hotel re. it's reliability. Gary, the manager, is very helpful.

My memory was the food was on the hi side but not bad food. The continental breakfast is not enough to keep you going all day in the park. Take water and food.

Pardon.

"All huts are good but pay with pesos not US $ as the exchange rate is terrible."
"ground floor of a two story can keep thatch roof bugs from visiting as ceiling is there instead of thatch."
"There is one bungalow with poolview."
"Some rooms have hammocks on the porch!"
"We stayed in five and six which were individual and just perfect. The stacked cabins seem less private. Six has great decoration."
