We went there for our first vacation since the pandemic an went home more than relaxed. The service was tremendous. Most to mention Chrisi at the pool bar who was the absolute best, kindest and funniest barkeeper of all time with a great Tequila Sunrise 😁 Animation rocked it as well, Alessandro and Martina worked their back off to give one a good time.

The food was quite good. We were impressed by the big number of options for vegetarians. Also was there a good choice of food at the Poolbar, especially the pizza was excellent. We were a little disappointed by the al a carte restaurants as there was only a very short menu. Especially the Greek restaurant seemed to have the same food as the all you can eat restaurant, but with a waiter. The vegan restaurant was excellent but unfortunately also with a super short menu.

The Spa was excellent as well. All of the team, the boss Irina and her colleagues Elena and Athena were very kind and professional. Kristina and Leontine have us the best massage we‘ve ever had, just amazing.

Room service was very clean, thoroughly and conscientious.

The hotel facility itself was very tidy, clean and well-tended, yet it is getting a bit long in the tooth and could be refurbished on one of the other side. But they really give their best to keep it in good shape. The balcony sizes differ a lot and so so the rooms. Although our room itself
Was nice, the balcony was kind of small and was directed to the power plant, which wasn’t too nice. But as we were barely in the room it was ok. Right next to the hotel (and in front of our balcony) is another hotel site that had open air entertainment with loud music until 10p.m., wich we found great and entertaining, but might be disturbing to others. Also could it barely be heard once the door was closed, great soundproof windows!

The beach is big, clean and nicely equipped. A few pebbles, especially after the storm, but mostly sandy. The big stones and algae entering the water don’t bother at all and there is lots of sand behind.

What wasn‘t too nice is the power plant right next to the hotel. From the hotel or the pools itself it‘s barely visible, but when it‘s unfortunately very present at the beach. Also was there a photographer that was a bit too haunting, although he was very kind and polite.

There is a tiny village 15-20 minutes away from the hotel whose best days are fine quite a while now, but the people over there are wonderful, kind and welcoming, so it’s worth going there.

All in all did we have a great 10 days with lots of relaxing, sports, excellent cocktails and great food. Thank you very much for the time and we’ll for sure come back!

Overrated. Outdated rooms. Deastrous buffet "cantine"-style, hot meals, drunks and desserts are a catastrophe. A view on the industrial area from the beach.
On the positive side: 2 big pools and a beautiful garden, and that's pretty all.
A cherry on the cake: unfriendly staff at the reception desk.

Due to having to relocate we got to stay here for one night. All in all good. The family room was spacious, and with a good sized balcony, all inclusive was pretty comprehensive (I was a little let down by a cold cooked breakfast, even though the food was under heat lamps). The resort is nice and you are on a lovely sandy strip of beach. The main pool is spacious and many activities were still running. Particularly handy as there is a regular bus route from straight outside of the hotel in to Herakleion which enabled us to visit the museum and go out for dinner. Certainly more lively than our previous hotel but I expect the location has a lot to do with that.

We've choosen this resort as optional offer instead of Korfu, which was canceled due to lack of service. Actually I have to say, that I am very surprised. This is my 3rd stay in Greece, 2nd time at Crete. This oldish hotel resort has not too múch to offer. Average to low service not equal to 5 stars hotel. Cheeky staff, especially at snack-bar and reception. Never seen this before. Even we were prepared that it is now "corona time conditions", still surprising. Housekeeping is organised for every 3rd Day! No water at room only at beggining 2 bottles.Than you have for free only cup available at bar. If you want a bottle than you have to pay. And you have to pay for other things like safe at room, a la carte restaurant when visiting second-time... meal is very average, served only by staff, you have to que all the time. Only what makes you relaxe is the sea..... So my recommendation is: think twice and check references when choosing holiday stay. This one is really nôt worth to money you pay for it.

Dear Mrs. B., thank you for choosing Apollonia Beach Resort & Spa as your holiday resort. We are sorry that you are not satisfied with your stay in our hotel. We kindly inform you that due to the measures of the Greek Health Ministry we are not allowed to clean your room every day. This measure required by law in the whole Greece so that we can verify that the hotels you have visited the last years also have to take the same measures as we are, which means, that the services in these hotels are also reduced due to Covid-19. As you might have read in the lift we also offer a room cleaning more often upon request. Kindly contact the reception desk if you wish an additional room cleaning. The bottle of water upon arrival is a complementary welcome for our guests. It is not in our contract with your tour operator to refill this bottle every day. All tour operators are informed that the safe in our hotel is with payment. In all hotel descriptions the safe is mentioned as to be charged. The a-la-carte restaurants are free of charge. Due to limited tables we have the rule that every guest can visit all three restaurants one time during the stay to guarantee that ALL our guests have the chance to dine in our specialty restaurants. A second visit in the restaurants is possible without extra charge upon availability. I have reserved a table for you in the Italian restaurant on Sunday for 19.20 p.m. For the moment you have just a reservation for the Greek restaurant on Monday. I have copied the link of our website about the measurements concerning the new hygienic law of the Greek Government, which is valued to all Greek hotels during Covid-19. https://www.apollonia.gr/covid-19-update/ For any further information please do not hesitate of contacting me in my office in font of the main restaurant. Best regards Apollonia Beach Resort & Spa

Do not be deceived by the website of this hotel. The photos on the website are very misleading, exaggerated and show the hotel in a good light. The hotel is noisy, is like a holiday camp, has music blaring from the bar, and the food is like a motorway services! I have yet to see a member of staff (other than those at the Spa) who are smart, which I would expect from a 5* Hotel. Not a surprise to hear it is due a renovation!

The hotel rooms are a bit dated, but the large garden and easy beach access, and most importantly the friendly personnel more than made up for that. Everything was very clean, the rooms were serviced daily. Nice cold air conditioning and soundproof windows/doors. We booked a bungalow and were placed in a room on the ground floor which was great for garden and pool access.
I had two massages and a facial at the spa, the treatments were first class. Everyone was nice and professional, thank you Irina, Kiki, Kristina and Athena. You guys are amazing! !
The buffets offered a great variety and were constantly monitored and refreshed. Nice local food selection also. Well made cocktails were served at the bar, and some evenings there was live music.
We had an evening meal at the Ambrosia by the beach, and tho the menu is short, the food, atmosphere and service was very good.
We spent 7 nights at the Apollonia resort and it was perfect, our first holiday with a baby. The hotel is family friendly and not pretentious. Would recommend and we will return for another visit!

Just back from this wonderful hotel and had the most amazing holiday. We arrived at 11.45 pm and were told to go get ourselves a drink at the bar before checking in. Once checked in and in our room, the staff had provided wine, fruit and Sandwiches which were much appreciated after a long day. We were the only Scottish people in the hotel and it was lovely to meet other guests from all over Europe. The Staff are an absolute credit to the hotel and could not do enough for you. Big thanks to Manolis at the bar, lovely man who does a fantastic job . Food was varied with different theme nights and all inclusive drinks fantastic. We can't wait to book again.

This hotel is located in the vicinity of a polluting industrial facility in Ammoudara, Crete. Smog from several tall blast furnaces was visible regularly, especially on the windy days. We were simply amazed by the mere existence of a hotel in such a place. How is this possible (allowed by the Greek authorities)?
There is no point in writing about the decrepit look of this hotel. Major investments would be required to bring the facilities up to date. Our junior family suite was in fact a double room with a dwarf annex (ca. 2-3 sqm) hosting a very small improvised bunk bed.
Very friendly employees did compensate these shortcomings to an extent. The all-inclusive food was good, although not typical of a real 5-star hotel. Same for the drinks.
Not recommended, especially for families. Will surely not come back.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Allow us to mention that the hotel was built prior the electricity company (with allowance by the Geek authorities!) We thank you that you clearly emphasize the power station again, which is mentioned in so many prior reviews. One should be aware of the location to spend your holiday in this location! 5 stars hotel but I d put 3. Cleaning the room every 3rd day... The breakfast buffet though is rich. Nice beach. Hotel all inclusive. Quiet and green area. About 20 min drive from harbor. Very touristic area. I don't know if it's worth paying this price per night

Came back from this hotel a week ago. We've spent 10 nights at Apollonia. We have mixed feelings about our stay. The hotel for sure doesn't look like a 5 Star hotel, more like 3 or 4, definitely overpriced. The room looked tired and had a very hard, uncomfortable bed.
The soft drinks were appalling, they don't taste like coke, fanta and etc. We had to buy them from the shop instead. We had to buy bottled water as well because you only get tap water. The food was ok apart from breakfast menu, not a lot of variety and always the same, we've enjoyed the Greek a la carte and vegan.
There's not much entertainment going on and the pool tables were broken for the duration of our stay.
The staff was nice apart from Chrissi from the snack bar. She was so rude, she doesn't care about the customers. When she sees you coming, she stares at you and then leaves. She only comes back a couple minutes later and takes your order. it looks like Chrissi hates her job a lot and shows it. She made the experience very unpleasant.
On the other hand the lobby bar staff were amazing! We had very nice service and good drinks.
Overall we've enjoyed our holiday because we've spent it with our family.

The front entrance is accessible & they have an elevator. I know there were at least 2 steps to the dining room but I don't remember a ramp. We had a plain room with a balcony. You could get out of both sides of the bed.
