Lovely boutique hotel right in the heart of the old town area .... just step out the front door for literally dozens of restaurants and bistros. Our suite, and 1st floor balcony seating area overlooking the interior courtyard were excellent. Staff were always friendly and attentive and the breakfast in the courtyard was very good. But the pool and surrounding area we somewhat minimalist.
Nice hotel with all COVID safety measures properly implemented. Highly recommended for anyone planning to visit the historical center of the city. Most of the best restaurants and bars in Campeche are less than a couple of blocks away. Also walking-distance from the malecon.
This was our first stay at Don Gustavo Hotel and our 5th visit to Campeche. We stayed 3 nights over Valentines weekend and were very satisfied with our choice of hotel. The staff are professional, efficent and friendly. Our room was large, the Calballero Jr. Suite, comfortable, the bed fantastic, and full of charm. The hotel is in a historic home built in the 17th centuary. and still contains some of the original families furnishings but still with modern comfort. A wonderful surprise was that the shower had lots of hot water and great pressure which many hotels do not provide.
Very kind and always attentive to our requirements. Amazing hotel, in the middle of the town. Nearby of bars and restaurants but very calm and quiet we didn't listen anything. Un of the best place we stayed.
The best in Campeche! We reserved this for the Campeche 70.3 ironman we did. It's right where the finish line is! Very convenient and awesome location. Restaurants right at the door step. Food is also awesome! The best are their staff especially Samantha! We have been assisted even before we left the States! Super awesome staff and hotel and the best feel of Mexican hacienda :)
We really loved the atmosphere of the place and the rooms are very very spacious! The whole experience really does justice to Campeche and is very much a place i would recommend given the old centre and the fact that this hotel really adds to the flavour.
Stayed here for 6 nights. The hotel was beautifully decorated with antiques and lovely furniture throughout. The room was huge and comfortable and very clean. All the staff were incredibly courteous and helpful. Special shout out to Aaron who was able to give great us advice on sightseeing options. It is also situated in a perfect location right on the main street which is closed off to traffic at night so restaurants can put out tables for dining.
We had the honor of staying at Casa Don Gustavo during our recent trip to Campeche. The hotel was perfect - beautiful rooms, historic setting, excellent location, and professional customer service. We stayed in a Junior Suite towards the back of the property and had a great sleep every night.
I feel it is necessary to write this review about what happened to us at Don Gustavo in order to warn future guests and avoid other thefts from happening. We stayed at this hotel in December 2019. Right after we checked in the hotel we decided to explore the city of Campeche and left all our valuables (money, credit cards, passports, car key) inside the safety box in the closet. We left the room around 3 pm and came back a few hours later. When we entered the room we found the lights on, which we turned off before leaving, and the door of the closet open. We immediately found this strange. When we tried to open the safety box with our code it didn’t work. We tried a second time but still with no results. We then called reception to help us reset the code. They sent the hotel maid with the key. When she opened the safety box we found two of our wallets open and one without money. When we told them that inside the opened wallet there were 150 euros missing, they didn’t seem very surprised. We immediately realized we had suffered a theft in our room and we told them we were gonna call the police. Only then they decided to talk with the manager and look at the cameras outside the room. It turns out only the maid had accessed our room when we weren’t there. I personally don’t care who is the culprit, I only know that the money we left in the safety box inside our room had been stolen. Someone from the hotel staff is stealing from inside the rooms and it is completely unacceptable. After a heated argument the manager decided to reimburse us the stolen amount but at that point we certainly didn’t feel safe in the hotel anymore. The strangest thing is that the staff and the management were not very apologetic nor surprised for this theft. When we checked out they didn’t even offer us an apology, so they are either complicit in the stealing or utterly unprofessional. To all future guests, be aware of leaving your valuables in the rooms of this hotel. They “only” stole 150 euros from us, but they could have stolen our passports or car keys, making our vacation in Mexico a real nightmare. Stay at the hotel at your own peril, you’ve been warned.…
This is a wonderful property in a great location. The ambience of the old house the hotel occupies is comfortable and romantic. The staf were friendly and very helpful. And our room was comfortable and exceptionally clean.
