Excellent hotel with very friendly staff. We were warmly welcomed and Nancy our receptionist even spoke German. The hotel is very secure and is secured around the clock. The food is excellent and offers good variety. Sometimes the buffet is set up by the pool, then there is dinner on the beach again. The cold food for breakfast is kept cool as it is offered in a refrigerated room which is closed by a sliding door. The beach is excellent and the umbrellas are at a very large distance from each other. Cooling wipes are always brought in and drinks are offered at any time. The beach vendors are only active on the outermost part of the beach, as they are not allowed by the security staff onto the beach belonging to the hotel. There are other restaurants and bars right next to the hotel. After several beach walks we can say, this is the most beautiful and widest beach. Just great👍🏻

When you come to Gold Zanzibar you may expect a 5* hotel, with good and bad services...for instance, difficult to get a beach bed every morning, not having good table at the restaurant when arriving a bit late, people underdressed at restaurants...etc. Those vicious that, particularly you may find in 5* hotels, after paying high prices. Let me tell you that I was deeply impressed by the way this hotel is arranged. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Silenced and quietly distributed. You can find all you need with a local touch. WiFi is excellent in the whole complex. The staff are pleased, very kind and professional. Hakuna Matata.. and big smiles! Amongst the staff, I would like to mention Nicole (PR)...none of possible "situations" remains unsolved if Nicole is aware of. Efficient, close, empathic, kind, and highly skilled. With regard to the cuisine, in my view, is one of the high values of the Gold Zanzibar. Chefs from Mauritius do an amazing job!!. Menus variety and high quality of the articles cooked make that every day/night you discover a taste, a creation...enjoyable foods! The Spa, swimming pool, better beach of Zanzibar and many activities offered, complete the package for spending an unforgettable time in Zanzíbar

The arrival at the village was very pleasant, with a warm welcome that made us immediately feel at home. The village is situated in a dream location, with fine white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters that offer breathtaking views. The gardens are well maintained, with palm trees and tropical plants creating an exotic and relaxing environment. Facilities in the village include a swimming pool, a spa and various leisure activities, including water sports and hiking. The location is perfect for both those seeking relaxation and those wishing to explore the wonders of Zanzibar. The village rooms are spacious, bright and furnished in a local style with modern touches. The bed is comfortable, with well-arranged mosquito nets that ensure peaceful nights. Each room has a private balcony or veranda, perfect for relaxing while admiring views of the sea or tropical garden. Cleanliness is impeccable, with a daily cleaning service. The staff is undoubtedly one of the strengths of the village. Always smiling, helpful and attentive to every need, the team works tirelessly to ensure guests have a memorable experience. Whether it is the restaurant staff, the lifeguards, the maid service, all stand out for their professionalism and kindness. The buffet restaurant is another point of excellence in the village. The culinary offer is varied and of high quality, with dishes ranging from local to international cuisine, satisfying all tastes. A particularly noteworthy aspect is the attention paid to those suffering from food intolerances. The chefs at the restaurant are extremely knowledgeable and available to answer any questions about the ingredients used. Even available to cook dishes suitable for those with gluten intolerances. This level of care and service makes all guests feel welcomed and safe to eat without worries. One of the things much appreciated was the availability of Wi-Fi everywhere! From arrival to departure, I never had any trouble connecting. Whether I was in my room, by the pool, at a restaurant or even at the beach, the connection was always stable and fast. This was especially useful for sharing holiday photos with friends and family in real time. Overall, the stay in this village was exceptional. The combination of a warm welcome, comfortable rooms, amazing staff, a food conscious restaurant and a dream place makes this village a great choice for an unforgettable holiday. Highly recommended to anyone who wants an authentic and relaxing experience in one of the most beautiful destinations in the Indian Ocean.

The hotel staff was very receptive and treated us with great care and attention. The room was always very clean and the food was delicious, we loved trying the local cuisine and there were many options of international dishes to please all tastes. We had a small problem with our room on the first day and the reception staff were very helpful and quickly resolved our problem by giving us a room update. Special thanks to Sachith at reception who helped us with this part. The hotel's attractions were incredible, we took Swahili classes, every day there was water aerobics in the pool, volleyball on the beach. We also loved the night performances at the Kilimanjaro restaurant, they were a lot of fun, we had the opportunity to see the Masai tribe perform their lion killing songs.

A high-level resort where nothing is left to chance, the location is immersed in a super-kept park and the structure is truly beautiful, from the restaurant to the swimming pool to the beach, everything is truly impeccable and the cuisine is a great surprise, full of variety and excellent quality. But what makes this place special are the people who work there, always available and with a contagious smile that will pamper you throughout the holiday, we were lucky enough to be able to meet the director and staff members like Alì and Nicole, wonderful people who they will make you feel part of this wonderful family. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this fairy tale.

What a wonderful place to spend your holidays or honeymoon. This property really deserves its 5 stars. After starting with a week in Tanzania to go on a safari (magical, full of sight, but also tiring), what better place to rest than this paradise? Upon arrival, you are immediately taken care of by the reception staff who offer you a refreshing towel that smells good eucalyptus (very pleasant when it is hot) and an equally refreshing drink. All with megas smiles and jumbo jumbo. The setting of the hotel is really splendid, the gardens are very well maintained, the hotel is very safe. No insecurity whatsoever at the entrance of the hotel guarded at all times by guards (with a gate high enough to avoid intrusions) as well as at the beach where you can leave your belongings on your deckchair to go swimming. 3 virgiles also monitor the dedicated space (umbrellas and deckchairs) of the hotel. The beach is beautiful, you can see beautiful sunsets.. The rooms are very large, clean with all the necessary comforts. We had opted for the luxury room with garden and we were satisfied. Whatever their function (gardeners, housekeepers, reception, restaurant welcome, cooks, bars , without forgetting Nicole, the great Mauritian chefs) , they are always in the care for you , with always this "big smile" that characterizes them. A mentality quite different from what we sometimes see at home. They treat you like kings. They have a real culture of "customer service". Feel free to learn a few words in Swahili and make this effort, they really deserve it... a staff with a big heart. I rarely put comments (positive or negative) but sincerely, they helped make our stay an exceptional one. We left with a tight heart but promised to come back and will. Don't change anything, you have a Dream Team. And God knows if some tourists behave at times abhorrently, (we have witnessed this), but you show cold blood and courtesy, and keep smiling regardless. Stay as you are, warm. What about buffets for catering? Simply grandiose, varied dishes, very good.... the great Mauritian chefs put all their love in their kitchen to satisfy the taste buds of their customers. Thank you all Nicole for her warm welcome and availability, Sunil , Kaile, Warren and Paul for concocting us good little dishes.... Ibrahim and isaac at the bar (with parties of crazy laughter) , Hapiness, Jackline, Pauline, Grace, Ibrahim and I forget some for their names but not their faces... the same for the staff who distribute beach towels... even the guards on the beach... Thank you all very much. This stay will remain forever etched in our hearts. And we will return

I stayed with my family for 10 days at the Gold and I wanted to write a review because it is right to write criticism when things go wrong but it is just as correct to say when things go well. The Resort is located in the beautiful white beach of kwendwa that leaves you speechless with an intense and unforgettable blue sea and the show continues wearing a snorkel mask with fish and starfish. We stayed in room 501 which is located in a very strategic position as it faces the pool / beach and next to the buffet restaurant. Our room was super spacious with a huge bathroom with shower and bathtub and the beloved by us Italian bidet, room always clean and tidy nothing really to object note of merit for the private front garden with a sitting area to see the sunsets. Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet, with quality products, various and very tasty unforgettable morning croissants and crepes really tasty but in general we found everything good especially considering we are on the other side of the world. Very soft and delicate animations nothing exaggerated really much appreciated because in the background, I want to report the kindness and courtesy of all the staff who with a smile and a “jambo” made you start the day very well thanks especially to Lucy in the morning, Naheem (I hope it is written correct) and the girl of the restaurant to the card that now I do not remember the name and I sincerely apologize for this and mugni with whom we organized all the excursions that allowed us to visit the whole island. I also want to thank Roberto and Nicole you made us feel like we were at home and if not something more, thank you for your attention, for the chatter in short for everything, it will be a holiday that we will remember during the winter and beyond!! And continue to raise awareness for the protection and conservation of marine wildlife that is one of your fortunes! Hakuna Matata from room 501 family!!!

Impressive resort. As soon as you get inside the gates you realize that now you have arrived at a hotel where nothing has been spared. And so it is. We stayed in room no 309 which was in the third row from the reception seen and on the second floor. Airy room with plenty of space and well-positioned areas, separate part for storage. Huge bathroom with both bathtub and shower, double sinks and separate toilet with bidet. Large, furnished balcony facing the sea. From the entrance gate all the way to the pool area, the surroundings are meticulously well maintained and park-like. The reception is exemplary from all staff, reception, porters, cleaning staff, bar, waiters, chefs, guards - everyone. Everyone is so friendly. We had half board and had both breakfast and dinner in the large restaurant where there is a huge variety in buffet form. Well cooked and tasty. Drinks are served in the bar. Plenty of sun loungers so there is no need to get up early and reserve space. Very nice sandy beach with clear water and little influence of the tide. In short, there is nothing that is not top class here.

I was attracted to this resort by the beautiful images of Zanzibar circulating on social media and after a careful selection I chose the Gold which I really liked. Beautiful resort with well-kept greenery, large spaces, beautiful rooms, good food, and rich breakfast, we spent several themed evenings with great entertainment, the sunbeds on the beach are widely spaced and the care for guests is very attentive. The only flaw is that the cleanliness in the rooms can definitely be improved. Unfortunately, problems arise as soon as you cross that invisible limit that divides the free beach from the private area of the resort. It feels like being in Rimini, beach boys trying to sell you everything and chasing us throughout the holiday, jet skis whizzing everywhere, boats of various types, and always lots of people present. Throughout the beach the hotels and resorts of various categories are practically all close to each other, next door we had one that played music continuously all day and rented jet skis that were stationed on the beach and in the water. The sea is not remotely comparable to ours in Sardinia or Salento, while on the videos I mentioned above I saw white and deserted beaches, crystal clear sea etc... In the end, however, it was not a negative experience but certainly not one to be repeated.

No the hotel does not. We used a local tour operator to collect us from our resort 3 days before our departure to get tested (PCR as required for re-entry to our home home country South Africa) at a clinic in Stone Town. The operator organises all the paperwork relating to the test (payment to the local government, clinic and collection of the test results).
We used Sun Tours...I can also personally recommend them for excursions as well.
Stay safe.
The entire organization demonstrates poor communication and cooperation. No one responds - you'll get that treatment in person too. I was just there. Cold. Unresponsive. Uncaring. Callous. And thieves.. they will rob your room.
No, you have to book with someone outside the resort but I would recommend asking the concierge at reception to help you book because there are a lot of scam artists on the beach that will sell you anything. The resort faces the ocean but doesn't have actual ocean property; the beaches are public.
There are more places to choose from in the Kendwa area.
