We had a lovely long weekend here despite the weather! Chapel Beck was cozy and very warm thanks to the log burner, and the super-king bed was incredibly comfortable. Everything was sparkling clean on arrival and we were impressed by the recycling facilities and no disposable toiletries. The hot tub was a lovely addition, although not used as much as we would have liked due to the wind! It is nearby to the Lake District park and we loved the drive through Uldale Fells - so much wildlife.

We stayed in the Great Calva cottage. It was a fantastic week away. The staff were very friendly, the facilities were great (the kids loved the games room and we loved the hot tub and sauna). Large communal areas in the kitchen, living room and outside meant we could all get together for food, games and general chit chat. The property is close to the northern lakes, about a 20min drive from Keswick and also from Carlisle. There was ample parking for our 4 vehicles and we were able to get a couple of tesco deliveries without any trouble. There was space in 2 fridge freezers for all our food for the week, though we did also plan an initial shop and an intermediate shop halfway through the week. Had we bought everything all at once, we may have struggled to keep all the food for 10 people for a week refrigerated. Overall this was an excellent venue, we would recommend it to people and would be happy to visit again ourselves.

This was our second stay at Monkhouse Hill, our first being with a group of 10 in 2015. This time was just me, my husband and our two dogs. Both visits have been fantastic but the recent refurbishment of all the cottages made our second stay even more enjoyable. We stayed in RavenHowe. These cottages have everything you need to make it a home away from home. The complimentary wine and biscuits were a nice touch. The hot tubs are lovely and warm and there is longer a cut off time of 10pm for use. Every cottage has a log burner which is perfect for cosy nights in at this time of year. We didn’t venture off site and instead enjoyed the grounds for walks with the dogs and then relaxed in the hot tub. Beds are really comfy and the cottage was very clean. We really love the Lake District and this is a great base for exploring the beautiful places it has to offer. We will be coming back in the new year for another chilled week providing we are not in another lockdown.

Excellent communication throughout booking process and everything was made very easy for a large group booking.
We were upgraded last minute to a larger lodge that was more accommodating to our party size. This was greatly appreciated , especially at no extra cost. All facilities in the lodge were of the highest standard including utensils, toiletries etc. Everyone commented that they had comfortable sleeps also. The automatic gate was very easily accessible and the surrounding area was lovely also. Shops very nearby and clear driving directions sent prior to arrival were very beneficial. Would definitely stay again , thank you for having us!

We stayed here for three nights to beat the January blues. Unfortunately the weather was terrible but staying in a small cottage with a wood burning fire was the perfect remedy!
I loved all the eco friendly choices made by the owners.
The spa bath was lovely.
The cottage was very clean and owners very friendly.
We will be back!

Our Family of 12 stayed at The Farmhouse, Sebergham, near Caldbeck, Monkhouse Hill Cottages. We hired it for a special Family Birthday, with a mixture of ages. 6 Children ranging from 2,8,10,11 and 16. All the Children and Adults loved the games room and the Hot tub was a favourite with everybody. Absolutely fantastic accommodation with amazing views over the Countryside and Skiddaw Mountain, the Farmhouse was beautiful, exceptionally clean everything felt brand new. The property had everything a family of 12 could need in terms of crockery utensils. Kitchen was excellent. Plenty of space for the whole family to eat together. The Bathrooms were immaculate very stylish and modern, everything was pristine. 30 minute drive to Keswick for a change of scene, though everyone wanted to get back to The Hot tub and Games room. Property and grounds were very private not overlooked. Good Barbecue. Overall a perfect place to have a holiday with Family or Friends. Would highly recommend and we all said we would Love to return. Host was very helpful and ensured everything was perfect. Thank you for a fabulous stay Gemma

We left booking our minimoon to very last minute due to covid. When we looked, Mickle Rigg was the only place in our price range in the Lake District and we snapped it up in an instance. I paid extra for the Honeymoon package and that was such a lovely thing to walk in to.
Gemma sent me instructions a few days before we arrived and it made all the process easier. Our cottage was perfect was just us 2, equipped with everything we would need for our stay. The bed is super comfy and we had a milk, pack or biscuits and plenty of hot drinks ready for our arrival.
We didn’t know much about the Lakes but this cottage seems a lovely location, up north from the Lakes but still within driving distance. The local guide and to do section of the website has been our bible and has given us plenty to do. Highly recommend and would revisit again!

We stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate some big family birthdays. We we’re a group of 10 adults & 5 children. We had an amazing time. The separate “wings” for the bedrooms is great. Everyone had their own space and it never felt cramped. The big table in the dining area was perfect for us all & we spend most of our time here!

The hot tub is a great size and nice & toasty! We also went to north lakes spa, we phoned ahead to make sure that they could accommodate us. It was a great add on to our stay.

Beds are comfy, rooms a good size, the kids loved the wee sitting room and spent most of their time in there. The lounge area is huge, plenty room for us all. Lots of storage space. The 2 ovens in the kitchen were a god send!

2 fridge freezers was also a bonus, we had a drink fridge & food fridge!!

The view is amazing, unfortunately the weather was a bit rubbish so we didn’t manage our on any of the local walks.

Gemma came to make sure we were settled in & give us a wee rundown on the heating etc and was in hand if we needed her.

The kids loved the games room & the play park. The adults also had some competitive games of table tennis & pool!

We would definitely return.

What an absolutely stunning place.

From the greeting on arrival to the goodbye on our departure everything we just perfect.

Accommodation was spotless, very comfortable and did not fail to disappoint.

Lots of green space for the kids and adults to play games and run around. The children’s play park provided great entertainment too.

The hot tub was a great success.

I cannot rate this highly enough and we are looking forward to a return visit.

All the very best in your new venture
