Came to the hotel for a drink with my parents. We have popped in once or twice before but this visit will be our last. No welcome at the door or told where we’re we able to sit. Another customer had to get the attention of a staff member for us. Then a simple order of 2 drinks from the bar and a coffee left us waiting nearly 15minutes. Then we were presented with the drinks and a demand for payment straight away. The glass my mothers drink was in was disgusting, had lipstick on and finger prints all over the glass. My glass was placed on the tray by the staff member with his fingers on the rim of my glass. I was glad to get a straw with my drink as not just due to COVID but just common cleanliness they shouldn’t have touched that part of the glass with his bare hands. I wanted to complain but my mother decided just to make this our last visit instead of complaining where I doubt anything would have been done in rush as most members of staff were to busy talking than working.…
The staff were extremely polite during our visit which made up in some way for the horrendously slow service. Our ticket was apparently mixed up in the kitchen and the staff were clearly under pressure from a surge in customers following their advertisement of the Halloween trail. Our drinks order was incorrect (coke versus the diet we asked for, a minor point of course) and Dinner arrived an hour after we did with tables who arrived after us finished and paid before our first dish had arrived. Portions were good, especially the kids pizzas which are more than enough for even the hungriest ones. The Halloween trail is incredibly muddy following the heavy rain but good fun for free after dinner. I’d have been disappointed had I paid the £3.95 non dining charge for each of my kids. Generally Covid safe although some swapping of menus / salt & pepper shakers between tables and a regular who had “forgot their masks in their car” (in their loudly pronounced proclamation) and clearly couldn’t be bothered to walk back the 20 yards with their car keys in hand to get it before sitting in their non socially distanced multi household group detracted from the experience somewhat. …
Visited their outdoor covered seating yesterday with family and it was lovely! Service was fantastic! Food was gorgeous. Felt warm from lovely fire. Nice to see someone celebrating a 40th with members of their family also. Great time had by us all. Will definitely be back!
Didn’t stay in the hotel as live local but went for Sunday lunch today and the meal was outstanding. The quality of the meat was superb and the vegetables were gorgeous. COVID safe. Would highly recommend
Stayed Saturday night with my two children. Very friendly staff, nice clean rooms. We ate at the bistro, my daughter had the halibut which she thoroughly enjoyed, me and my son had pizza which was nice. Breakfast in the morning was okay, nothing special but not bad either. Given the current situation, pleasant visit. Would recommend!
