many reviews claim that this is a 5 start hotel; I would like to suggest that they have never been to one of that rating. It's not by any stretch of the imagination and 3 stars is almost generous although some things are better. With improvements this place has potential and I'll get into that. Examples of what's good to great: the pool with view of the Rio San Francisco.. high above it. The hotel is clearly very family/kid friendly. The staff is very helpful and nice in spite of the lack of English (not a criticism since we don't speak any Portuguese). We had a nice view of the river from our room which is good sized and has a working fridge. The bed was pretty comfortable. What is not so good: the road to the hotel is fairly long and incredibly bumpy. What needs to be improved: the room needs an overhaul. Initially we had to switch rooms because the air conditioning did not work (you are in a very hot part of the country). Tiny bathroom with zero storage and virtually no amenities. Had to ask for toothbrush glasses. No Kleenex or body lotion. The faucet is significantly above the sink and it's very hard to open and close it; we did only get lukewarm water out of it. The sink also has no plug; hand washing anything is thus problematic. The water is not drinkable which means that bottled water should be supplied for free (and it's not). The shower head is very high and cannot be swiveled but is in pretty good working order. There is no exhaust in the bathroom other than a small and not very attractive looking window that seems to allow for some ventilation. Getting towels to dry is a challenge. The room is relatively good sized. The kind of patio table/chairs are not exactly up to par for any hotel room. The window needs to be better insulated. Every night a wind came up and the curtains were blowing around a bit. There is only one nightstand. The other side is too far away from the bed and there are no end table or reading lights. the entrance door is not well sealed. Tiny ants, etc. can get in (our friends found a little frog in their room). Pain splatters on the brick interior should be cleaned up and the finish work around doors, etc. should be be finished, cleaned and/or improved. Breakfast buffet: the juices left a lot to be desired. Overall I cannot give the buffet a high rating. The breads/rolls were like cotton. No freshly baked bread of any substance. Poor cereal choices. Some of the fruit left something to be desired. I'll admit that more local people might it all very adequate. We have simply been to too many places to compare this against. While my review may sound very critical I hope that the input will give you food for thought so that you can attract visitors from outside Brazil because you are in a very unique part of this country.

The hotel is on the more expensive side for Piranhas, but you get a room with sufficient space, mini fridge, A/C, a Brazilian breakfast with a lot of choice and for 10 % more even a room with a magnificent view on the São Francisco river. Be aware that you are on the top of a hill, so to go down to Piranhas' historic center you have to use a car or manage 333 steps (which you have to go up again!). There's also a restaurant in the hotel, a pool and a place with hammocks and a bar to relax. Staff was helpful and nice. Free wifi, although it stopped from time to time. I notified reception, so hopefully they fixed it.
