We stayed at Longbourne Lodge over the weekend while visiting my sister in Brighton. We brought our dog with us. We had a fabulous time -- the chalet was spotless! Just beautiful and very clean. And the view of the hills was lovely too. We saw moreporks (ruru) and bunnies and met the famous Lizzy the football playing host dog....

I selected the accommodation based on the location from the airport. Dunedin Airport is 30km out of Dunedin. The Longbourne Lodge Country Motel at Mosgiel in 19km from the airport. Upon arrival at Dunedin Airport and having collected our bags we took the last taxi. Peter (the owner) upon arrival was most welcoming despite the lateness of the hour. We...

We recently stayed here for a one night stay. We had extended family with us so had two units, a two bedroom and a one. Both units were lovely. Our one bed was new, only 18 months old. Tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for our stay. I think this would be a lovely place to stay for families...

The Motel is only a couple of minutes out from Mosgiel. The grounds are large for walking the dogs. Given a few more years this place will have a lovely garden ideal for sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air and little noise. The units are simple and yet very adequate, a very comfortable bed.

Great little place to stay if you are heading to the Dunedin area but don't want to stay in the city. Mosgiel town has plenty of shops to cater for day to day needs. The owners live onsite and will ensure that you have a pleasant stay.

The owner was a warm friendly man who welcomed us to the property. Showed us around. The lodges are beautifully kept and equiped. We thought it was all brand new. They are warm and the beds are the most comfortable I have slept in. Loved it.

Stayed here for 3 nights with a large wedding party and we all thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The units are very tidy, spacious and comfortable. Mosgiel is just a few kms away, but too far to comfortably walk. Spacious grounds if you have kids (or adults!) that like to run around. Friendly hosts. I would stay here again.

We stayed in a one bedroom lodge. Clean and immaculately kept. Fully equipped for making meals and lots of nice touches such as the tissues and makeup remover pads. The setting was peaceful and we had beautiful views. Loved the insect screens which still allowed for security. Great to be able to drive up and park right beside the door,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sunny, spacious and warm cosy cottages and family sized cottages set on 5 peaceful acres in Mosgiel. View the picturesque scenes of the Taieri Plains and surrounding hills from your covered veranda; enjoy a "country quiet" night’s sleep in our deliciously comfortable beds. Being only four kms from the restaurants and cafes, you could dine out in a different place every night. Or as each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, you could create your own favourites and dine on the deck enjoying a fine Otago wine as you watch the sun slip slowly behind the hills. Barbeques and picnics are always a family favourite at the Lodge, along with outdoor chess, chequers and petanque. At Longbourne Lodge we like to think globally and act locally, so each cottage is passive solar designed, and features double glazing and solar hot water. We offer rain collected filtered drinking water and the waste water is reticulated for the gardens. So why not spoil yourself and experience genuine rural NZ hospitality at a genuinely affordable Kiwi price? We’d love to meet you. ... more   less

“The studio unit is great for family size. The size of the grounds themselves is a large bonus for any family with kids who need to expel some energy. They also have a swing, hoop rugby/soccer balls and outdoor chess set.”
