If you're reading this review, you're destined to stay at Sandy's. Book it now! Even in COVID!! Traveling during COVID was a mess, but this trip was worth all the trouble. What started as an impulsive, late night, "treat yourself to a trip to Jamaica" Tuesday evening, ultimately ended in one of the best weeks of my life, and a new family in Little Bay. After a horrid day of travel, I arrived to a big hug from Sandy, a tall glass of water, and a beautiful room. The next morning I turned my head on the pillow, and there is the most stunning view of the Caribbean Sea with an ocean breeze. Heaven! I'll save the details for your trip, but the remainder of my stay with Sandy, Dillion & Co. was characterized by love, compassion, serenity, natural beauty, adventure, relaxation, and sheer enjoyment. *Disclaimer* this is not your tacky Sandals Resort. This is a true, authentic, Jamaican experience. This is off the grid, dirt roads, no hot water, leaving the phone at home, real world living. This is fresh caught lobster, off the tree coconuts, ocean sunsets, walking through waterfalls, meeting the village, playing dominoes til midnight. This is bonding with the best hosts you'll ever meet, never wanting to leave, and looking at airfares as soon as you lay down at home. Don't hesitate, just do it! Especially if you need a Solo Getaway! Thank you Sandy, Dillio, Shorty, Pinky, Bohta, Sandra, Natalie, Reefer, Reggae, Chapo and Sheila! Love and Blessings!…

Myself and my son (21 yrs) and twin daughters (17 yrs) spent 8 nights over Christmas with Sandy and Dillo and we are all in agreement that it was our favorite family vacation. I had been to Jamaica once before for a short time in the ‘80s and knew that if I was to take my kids, we would want to stay away from the tourist trip as we typically do when we travel. Sandy and Dillo are the most thoughtful and knowledgeable hosts and we were privileged to experience Jamaica through the eyes (and stomach) of their authentic love for their village. There was plenty for my kids to do...and enough time to not do and just be. We got to spend Christmas in release and detox instead of consumer mode but still had lots of adventures and stories to tell. Some highlights from a mother’s eyes: both of my daughters put their phones away and no social media the whole time! They they didn’t miss it a bit and if you have teenagers, you know what a success story that is. They were more than content eating jellied coconuts and learning about the Jamaican way of life from Dillo. My daughter who is terrified of bats went in the bat cave (that was after a jump into the Bob Marley mineral springs). And my other daughter who was not so sure about swimming with urchins and fish larger than her (we live on a small lake with sassy bluegills) snorkeled with me and loved all the marine life. My son speared a lobster which granted him a seat on the boat fishing with Dillo - watching him go out was like watching him at age 6 on Christmas morning. And speaking of Christmas, we decided to go no gifts. Dillo gave us the best gift by taking us out for a sunset cruise Christmas night where we got to watch the dolphins play. I think that was after one of our many amazing meals - fresh caught lobster and crab. My kids are adventurous eaters and love seafood; they commented that they head eaten more delicious locally grown and swimmy things that they had never heard of! As for me, I spoiled myself with a wonderful massage, lots of dog love and doing yoga and meditation every morning on the perfect outdoor yoga pad while listening to Little Bay come alive. Going through customs in Montego Bay, the agent asked my kids what their favorite thing about Jamaica was - they all said the food and the people! We will remember the amazing people of Little Bay and our driver Sandra, who encouraged us to ask as many questions as we wanted (and we did - including my kids asking about the political history of Jamaica). And we will be back Sandy and Dillo! Thank you for your kindness and sharing your beautiful space.…

We were picked up by Sandra who knows how to dodge goats and has a great sense of humor. When we arrive, we are greeted with a warm welcome from Sandy and Dillo. Then we are served a delicious meal cooked by Chef Dillo. No fuddyduddy menu here. The whole week was sunshine, swimming and great food! We also had a lot of laughs and can't remember when I laughed so much. The property is beautiful and full of orchids and tropical birds. If you like crowds, being hassled and lousy food then this is not for you. This was our third time and looking forward to the next. Thanks again Sandy & Dillo!

SERENE NATURAL BEAUTY AS SAFE AND LOVING AS IN MOTHER’S ARMS MAGICAL DREAM LIVING AMONGST THE CORAL! After being dropped off by the warm, friendly, super-skilled driver Sandra, we arrived at Sandy and Dillo’s just after it got dark and in a way it was the best time to arrive. You can here the waves, ever so close, but you only sense where they are, maybe can see the whitecaps if it’s windy. Until the moon comes up. Walking into their property was like being ushered into a magical land of lights strung about the beautiful garden and walk toward the warmly lit table. I actually cried a little in happiness and that set the tone for the rest of our trip. When we finally settled down and were led into our beautiful room – The Seabreeze Room. The first thing I said when they shut the door was, ‘This is soo like the honeymoon before the wedding!’ Pictures really can’t do this place justice, inside or out. My fiancé is 6’6” and the room made him look short. The plentiful extra large windows opened to reveal expansive views of nature all around, and still feel completely private. We leaned out the front window and the moon had risen over the bay painting the water and everything in a sparkly silver magical view, and my thoughts were echoed in my fiancé’s words, ’Eat your heart out Pirates of the Caribbean!’ For most of the trip I was dumbfounded, and for those who know me well, that really is saying something! Dillo and Sandy are the most amazing hosts I’ve ever encountered in my many travels. They are Veteran Hosts, who somehow anticipate your needs, and are happy to tailor your vacation to your dream. Take the time before you go to express your dietary needs, wants, desires and dislikes before you arrive and they will always do their very best to accommodate. They are overflowing with warmth, compassion and there is love in everything that they do. Incredibly entertaining, fun people to chill with and each Legends in their own right. The whole family are! I won’t give away any stories, but least to say these people are the most Incredible people I have ever met! Okay, getting on with it.. the Food, oh the Food! We are both big foodies and have dined in extremely beyond 5 star organic gourmet food restaurants, spas, hotels, etc., and the meals we had prepared by Sandy and Dillo are by far, above and beyond, the best we’ve ever had!! Everything is organic, and the local growers that she sources from are even beyond organic, caring and tending to each plant daily, and the flavours and richness of nutrients are outstanding. We eat 85% organic at home, and have been eating organic eggs for years, but their eggs are the best I’ve eaten in the whole world! We had incredibly delicious fresh off the boat fish that Dillo would bring in, and as the weather luck would have it, we were spoiled with lobster! Tender and sweet and nummy to eat! We even ate organic chicken that had been butchered that very day – everything fresh as it gets! As for cold drinks, pops, etc, they just got diet coke in for the first time, and I was looking for all my favourites, but honestly the Jamaican drinks are soo much better – worth experimenting a little. For all those slightly vulnerable travellers, this is the Perfect Place, (though not wheelchair accessible there are only one or two steps to navigate when you stay in one of the ground floor rooms). Between Dillo’s teas and Bush Doctoring and Sandy’s nursing, every remedy worked and they got me healthier than I’d been in years.. They’re so caring and experienced, you’ll be in good hands here. This is the perfect place to experience the beauty sounds and smells of nature in a serene environment where you can meditate and let any tension melt away. Where people who actually care tailor everything for you. You can’t get that at a resort amongst hundreds or even over a thousand people – and a sad truth we just didn’t know until this trip: Resort workers are only paid $7/day (pound of non-chemicalized butter $11), and at Sandals you will be fired for taking a tip, though the Spanish chains allow it there may be other issues as well. But as there aren’t enough jobs to go around… Let’s just say the sickening truth is that oppression is alive and well in Jamaica. However, here is a place you can enjoy a quiet beach, the best holiday you can imagine, and know your money is going to the people in the country you are visiting! As generous members of the community who help where they can, these are definitely the right people. We had 2 glorious weeks there, met some of the most astonishingly amazing, friendly, generous, hardworking, honest and open, kind, wise and talented people I’ve ever met in my life; witnessed a natural mystic; a curtain of stars so bright and so clear it makes you dizzy to look at them, the sun rising over the trees and setting over the water; standing in an excellent private outdoor shower with a gorgeous view of the trees and bush; and so much more, but discovering it is part of the fun, so I won’t spoil any more. Ever since we got home, all we want to do go back… no more searching for the best holiday spot – THIS IS IT! (so sorry if names are spelled wrong)… Much Love and Respect to our new very dear friends Sandy, Dillo, Bota, Giovanni, Jo-ahnn, Bahbo, Sandra, Regge, Reefer, Uno, Chapo and Benny and the Jets!!! We’ll be back as soon as we can!!!…

Sandy and Dillo will make all your dreams come true. Living with them in their small fishing village was an absolute cultural experience. Tucked away from hotels and resorts in a beautiful bay, the views are a treat to behold. The food was outstanding and an event every night. Dillo's knowledge of the island, bush remedies, and fishing were amazing and we so enjoyed him. Just tell Sandy what you would like to do on your stay and she will handle all the arrangements right down to a driver. Marine life was better than any we had experienced before. Dillo can take you out and knows where to go. We also did a sunset cruise in Dillo's longboat and even caught a tuna on the way out. I have to say both my daughter and I had the time of our lives! Can't wait to go back!

Sandy and her husband Dillo are the most amazing hosts you could ask for. The rooms are clean, bright, and beautiful. The food is fresh and out of this world amazingly delicious. So much better than any mass produced food you would find at a resort. I have celiac disease, so I need to follow a strict gluten free diet, and Sandy and Dillo had no problems catering to that. Even with my dietary limitations, I never left the table hungry or unsatisfied. The view of the bay and sea are mesmerizing. Fall asleep to the sound of the waves and crickets every night. Sandy will take care of any plans or trips you want to take, taking all of the stress and planning and communication with others out of the picture so all you have to do is enjoy yourself. Tell her what your interests are and she can recommend things and tell you how much they cost, so with her help you can plan and budget your vacation. I would highly recommend a sunset boat cruise with Dillo. The sunset is breathtaking from the sea. My mom and I enjoyed every second we were there. We felt like princesses and we learned so much. It was truly a magical place. We hope to be back real soon.…

When I first talked to you about coming to Jamaica for our honeymoon I wasn't sure what to expect. But for some reason it felt rite like this is what my wife I needed in our lives. Honestly she was a little skeptical because it was something different. You go on vacations to these all inclusive places and you most of the time never leave and experience the culture and that's something that we wanted to do. So we did it and we are so glad we did. We talk about our trip all the time and can't wait to experience it again when the time is rite. The people we met were just so real and the guidance we received from a couple rasta elders was amazing and I think my wife Megan Borbely will vouch for that. One was treat your wife like a queen worship the ground she walks on and always take care of her. That will stick with me forever. The private songs that were played for us were so special. I'm so glad we came to visit you Sandy Fry and you showed us a part of the world that I never thought existed. Where people are happy with what they have and never want more then what they need and it's all about family and respect. Much love to you and Dilo, can't wait to do it again and go fishing with that rasta. What fun…

This was my third visit to Sandysbythesea bringing my 18 year old daughter~not her first visit to Jamaica but a first to Sandys. She was NOT disappointed! It was exactly what we wanted and needed! We were met by our driver, Sandra, a kind, diligent, safe driver at the airport. We enjoyed our ride to our destination in LittleBay. It's always fun to take in the sights and little villages that dot the road there. Once at Sandys we were warmly greeted- and immediately began to decompress and climatize from our travels and the the cold weather of Wisconsin. Sandys is colorful and enchanting from the blooming flora and fauna to the freshly painted pretty structures that we're to call home for the next week. And it feels like home- from the aromatic cooking wafting through the air to the comforts Sandy and Dillo bestow upon you. Need an icy Red Stripe? No problem! Need a water laden with Cucumbers? No worries. Need a nap? The breeze is blowing that hammock awaiting you in the shade... Sandys has a delightful new addition! A fun, bright and at night, gorgeously lit "libation station" Okay, a bar! But it's the new Mermaid Lounge and it's nice to have so close to the thatched roof dining area. You name it, your palettes desire... may I Recommend A "Renee's Green Parrot?" Meyers Rum, a lil' pineapple, a lil orange and a few shakes of bitters over ice! Sandy makes a mean Parrot, making you happy! :) Music of your desire beats from the speaker- hope you enjoy some reggae like we do! Play on Bob, Beres, Peter and Morgan... music here is the pulse and vibe that creates such good feelings! The music, the sunsets, the view-and oh, oh,oh the food. Sandy and Dillo are chefs extraordinaire and really impress. Food is always delicious, fresh, flavorful and portions are big! Please see pictures I posted ~ we enjoyed everything from an amazing fresh catch to Lobster Rasta pasta to curried chicken. A special thanks to Meldina~ a gifted healer/ massage therapist who worked her magic once again alleviating my back pain and giving my daughter her first massage that she has reported was one of her favorite things. She is also a lovely person like many others in this small friendly community. I spent hours in the perfect wAter just relaxing and I'm so grateful for this chance to spend with my daughter before she leaves for school this fall. It was life changing actually and epiphanies were made and clarity gained~ and I give credit to this time and this destination. That says it all in my opinion. Thank you to Sandy and Dillo~ warm and sweet, special friends. one love. …

It was our first time going to Jamaica. After going back and forth between staying in an all inclusive or something a bit off the grid, we opted for off the grid! I had read the reviews about Sandy's by the Sea and all came with VERY high marks! We were looking for something quiet and peaceful away from the busy touristy places. It turns out we made the right choice for what we were looking for! Beautiful setting, great food and oh so relaxing! Sandy, Dillo and Bota took very good care of us. From our transfer from the airport, to any excursions you want to take, to the great food and drinks! Not only were they awesome hosts, they became great friends! We had many laughs and we learned how to play Dominoes which is a BIG game here! Sandy's by the Sea was exactly what we needed!
