For my first ever time skiing, I decided to take a road trip from NYC to Stowe, VT. After doing some searching online, came across the website of Stowe Meadows and was impressed by this idyllic Vermont retreat. Plus, the reviewers online seemed to universally love the owners, Caroline and Erich, so I decided to book.

Having no experience whatsoever in extremely snowy conditions or rural mountain towns, Stowe Meadows was certainly a warm and welcoming place to stay! From the moment I drove up to the property, Erich and Caroline were the kindest, most hospitable souls I could’ve ever hoped to meet!

Just a few favorite highlights of my stay included the “bed and breakfast” feeling of communal breakfast, along with getting to know the other guests. Also the well appointed bathroom with heated floors, toiletries, and little details such as makeup removing towelettes.

The bedroom had cozy robes, a super comfy bed, and waking to scenic mountain views was a wonderful way to start the day and the downstairs loft with fireplace and glass of wine, was a great way to end the evening.

Erich and Caroline: Bless you both, and thank you!

Located just outside Stow, this private setting B&B can be found just down a picturesque dirt road that fulfills the rural Vermont experience. Drive past colonial farms and stunning views of the mountains as you make your way to this
charming location. We stopped several times just to take in the views, scenery and landscapes.

Upon arrival we were promptly greeted by the owners who showed us to our lovely room which looked out on the mountains. We were offered us a glass of wine which was a nice touch and one which we didn't refuse. There was a perfect fire going in the rustic stone fireplace to keep us toasty, and the radiant heat made the entire place warm and cozy throughout the night.

The architecture is stunning as is the decor. There is so much history in Stow Meadows, all of the exposed timbers come from colonial era barns from across New England and add to the peaceful aura. You can almost feel the human labor and passion that went into these hand carved beams.

We slept comfortably on the temporpedic mattress which was out of this world comfy. Every room had it's own private bathroom which is nice for a B&B. Despite having other guests the room felt super private and you almost forgot you didn't have the place to yourself. Snow blanked the grounds and we felt compelled to explore the area and take in the landscape on foot, stopping to say hello to the ducks and later some cows. Bring your cameras!

The resident dogs are friendly and great you with a smile. The white one, Mazie is the sweetest girl and everyone wants to take her home when they leave.

Caroline was able to get us reservations at a great place despite our lack of planning on that end. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and we departed wishing we could stay another night...or possibly move in.

We will definitely be back as this was one of our favorite experiences as a couple who enjoys staying at unique places as opposed to some standard hotel.

I had always been hesitant to try a B&B so when my husband told me he booked us a stay at Stowe Meadows I was very skeptical. However, it has quickly become one of my favorite places to be. Not only are the property and accommodations superb but Caroline and Erich’s hospitality is unmatched! They are warm and inviting, attentive without being overbearing, conversational without being too chatty. They make you feel 100% at home.

I have a lot of trouble sleeping in beds that are not my own. However this bed is by far one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. The room we like has a massage chair, private deck, jacuzzi tub and huge shower with two oversized shower heads and steam! Two water closets! There is a nespresso machine in your room…. a few snacks…. glass pitchers of water… turndowns in the evening!

The breakfast they serve is amazing! I have a lot of diet restrictions and they were 100% accommodating. They have always been a gluten free kitchen and let me tell you, my experience with gluten free baked goods leaves much to be desired however their baked goods are fabulous! This last trip they made blueberry muffins one day and a pear muffin the second and they might have been the best muffins I have ever had, even including non GF muffins. While you’re enjoy relaxing and having your hot plated breakfast being served to you Caroline and Erich fill any lull in conversation without being forceful. They provided details of what is being served for breakfast including the location of the local farms that some of the items came from, provide restaurant and outing suggestions.

They have 2 adorable dogs on premises, Timber and Maisie. If you are a dog lover then you will love these two! They are very friendly and extremely well behaved. If you are not a dog lover then don’t let this tidbit stop you from giving Stowe Meadows a try. The dogs are not allowed to just roam the B&B unless guests request to see them. They do not rush your car when you arrive nor are they allowed in the guest rooms. I would consider myself sensitive to smells and there is no scent of dog at the B&B nor a smell of one trying to cover up the smell of a dog.

I really can’t say enough good things about Stowe Meadows! Our experience there has set the bar extremely high if we were ever to try another B&B!

We had a most wonderful weekend at Stowe Meadows. My boyfriend was looking for a place to propose, and this was the place he picked - unquestionably an excellent decision!! The room had an exquisite view over the mountains and a too-die for bath suite that will make you dream of making over your own home. The beautifully appointed bedroom had window seating and a massage chair, and the whole suite opened out onto a private deck. Breakfasts were made to meet my dietary restrictions, and were farm fresh and healthy. There are multiple decks around the lodge to relax on, and you can walk the vast property and sit on Adirondack chairs out near the pond to enjoy the tranquility and incredible vistas.

The location is just 10 minutes from town so while it feels completely remote it is actually close to great shops and restaurants.

Caroline and Erich are warm and helpful hosts. We look forward to seeing them again as soon as possible!

What a glorious way to celebrate. We were warmly greeted, shown to our lovely “honeymoon” suite with a stunning view to an expansive landscape with fall foliage, and provided with ideas for sightseeing. What a treat to be served scrumptious vegetarian breakfasts crafted just for us - along with delightful stories about their chickens. Who knew chickens have good reason to molt just as temperatures plummet! Upon leaving, we’re glad we took the route they recommended through the islands of Lake Ontario on the way to Niagara Falls. Thank you Caroline and Eric for the memories.

Stowe Meadows is now our favorite boutique lodge. We were greeted by Caroline and her Husband Eric, the owners, who made us feel so welcomed. Inside the lodge is exceptional and beautifully designed. The view from each room is like a picture.

Breakfast was prepared with all fresh ingredients and the presentation was 5 star. The lodge is a short drive from the town center in Stowe. Caroline and Eric recommended excellent restaurants for dinner in Stowe.

Our stay was so wonderful that we are booked again for next year. I would highly recommend this lodge while in Stowe Vermont.

We had a great time at Stowe Meadows over the July 1st long weekend. Caroline and Erich were great hosts and provided everything we needed. This is a boutique bed and breakfast renting out private rooms within a beautiful residential home. Highlights include the amazing view, some of the most comfortable pillows I’ve ever experienced in any hotel, and of course the breakfast - Caroline and Erich are great cooks, and were kind enough to adapt the menu to make it vegetarian for us. Overall, a wonderful place to stay!

We were not expecting the indulgences and quality Caroline and Erich delivered. We live in a small ski town and are familiar with over-hyped hotel/bnb listings – not so here. We recommend the main Master King Jacuzzi Suite. First, it's gigantic, with a terrace off the bedroom. Second, it has a his/her master bath with a jacuzzi AND a steam shower. (Everything works!) Third, the mattress is firm and fantastic. We really enjoyed the large window seat overlooking the pond with Mt. Mansfield in the horizon. When we got in after a long drive, we didn't want to leave for dinner. Great place to come back home to after skiing or hiking. The breakfasts are homemade and perfect; strong coffee, fresh juice, healthy yogurt and granola, muffins, sometimes warm options like fritatas. Caroline and Erich are polite and warm hosts - they're there when you need them but not overbearing. A perfect northern Vermmont getaway for couples.

A mountain retreat that felt like home. CAn't wait to return next year and already booked our master suite for 2022. Warm and welcoming before and along every step of our 3-day weekend. Nothing is left without attention and i can't imagine even the most discriminating traveler would find anything not to their liking. Stowe Meadows ranks as one of the most relaxing and rejuvenating weekends of our many travel destinations.

Caroline and Erich were amazing hosts! They were warm and welcoming and would chat with us. They made us feel like family.
This beautiful home has 3 large rooms in the basement- each with private bathrooms.
A large master bedroom & private balcony is on the main floor.
We rented all 4 rooms for our family (4 couples). They really accommodated us as a family.
They made space in the fridge for food and wines we brought and gave us plates/wine glasses in the evenings if we ate at the house.
2 large balconies with gorgeous views of the leaves turning colors.

There are great areas to hike nearby.

The breakfast was delicious, home made and different every morning.

They gave us recommendations of restaurant and places to go to.
I would love to go back!
