You get what you pay for, as the The saying goes. Wifi is shut down at about 11pm when they close the lobby and a security guard watches the property. I received raw pancakes with moldy syrup container. The room had some kind of feathers under the beds and the bed linen had like grains of something weird- definetely dis not want to lay there or sleep. I know they are renovation but renovation from hospitality perspective are to be done inside out...not a new pool but rooms and bathroom and ac and fan are full of rust.

Hotel is undergoing renovation and pool was not operational but the rooms were clean and staff very helpful. Had a problem with the air conditioner in one room and it was fixed right away. Hotel is directly across from the beach and a short drive to Mount Morro. If you are looking for economy this is an excellent hotel and the pool and renovations were very near completion at the time of our stay. Breakfast included and was good not your go to the lobby for a continental breakfast but a sit down meal.

This hotel is at a really good spot. We reserved the room and then paid when we got there. There was a note when we booked that the hotel collected a $100 dollar safety deposit. That did not happen. Check-in was a little weird, but other than that we enjoyed our stay. We only stayed one night. We have two small kids, and they enjoyed the little playground while we relaxed after the drive. Then we walked across the street and went swimming in the Ocean. We had dinner there that night and it was really good. They have killer mosquitos and biting gnats though, so be prepared. THe next morning we had the provided breakfast, eggs and toast. great. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is older, the staff are nice food was ok. Room was ok but I was eaten alive by what I’m thinking are bed bugs. I told the mgr twice and he tried to play it down so I said I’d be doing a review he didn’t seem to care so here it is folks nice place to stay don’t count on the mgr to care if you leave in one piece over twenty bites on my left arm alone even under my watch😕😳

I've stayed both here and at Hotel Marbella across the street. Marina Del Mar has a very pleasant lobby seating area next to the dining room. It's a good place to relax with a VERY cold bottle of Presidente. I had a single room with 2 beds. The one I slept in was comfortable and the place was quite clean. Private bathroom is always a plus although you may have to wait to see if you get hot water. Overall, the public areas of the hotel are quite nice, the room I was in, somewhat less so. Staff does not speak much English but everything eventually gets sorted out. Internet is sketchy. But overall it's good value for the money.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 days. Like much of Monte Cristi, it has probably seen better days in the past. However, it is a convenient place with friendly service and good food. The view of the ocean and El Morro is spectacular. In conclusion, it was the perfect hub for us exploring the region.

You can't beat the view right out the front porch of this hotel. Rooms are simple and clean and they sell beer, water and food all right there. Quiet at night despite being the weekend. Gracias Doña Petra!

Marina del Mar offers comfortable rooms with air conditioning, TV with cable. We, a family of four, stayed in a bedroom with one queen bed and two twin beds, one bathroom and a small dining table with four chairs. There was no safe deposit box. The bedroom and bathroom were clean. The beds where simply decorated but clean and neat. The bedroom was not soundproof, so we could hear other guests walking and talking in the hallway late at night. We didin´t see elevators, so if you need a first floor room, you better talk with the hotel when booking here. The hotel is located in front of the ocean, and next to a small mangroove area, so the views are nice. There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel, and the food is good as well as the service, with reasonable prices. The seafood is very good and fresh, being Montecristi a fishermen town. The breakfast is included in the price, and is continental style, including good dominican coffee. The personel is corteous and will help with anything if asked. They are not the kind that likes to overwhelm the guests with services offers and such, for which we were very grateful. Almost across the hotel there is a water sports center (we were told it doesn´t belong to the hotel) where you can arrange boat trips through the mangrooves, to Cabra Island, around El Moro and even go fishing. The relation price-accomodation is fabulous. We were worried about what we would get, because this hotel is amazingly cheap. We couldn´t believe that it included such rooms with air conditioning and breakfast too! Free wifi!

Highlights: nice and friendly staff, great location and prices (for accommodation and complimentary services). My family and I enjoyed breakfast and lunch onsite and the food was actually pretty good. The establishment provides easy access to the major touristic attractions in the town. Low lights: overall cleanliness of the establishment could be improved. The bathrooms looked old and not very well maintained. Very thin walls: one could easily hear doors, conversations from the room next door.

My family & I stood here for a week in the beginning of July 2015. We had the mini suite which was really nice with a beautiful balcony. It's has a beautiful view of the ocean and El Morro. (spectacular view). My only complaint was the restaurant, the food was very good & delicious BUT and this is a HUGE but. THEY CHARGE 28% PERCENT IN TAXES ON THE FOOD. which is really ridiculous cause WE ALL KNOW the Dominican Republic doesn't charge taxes on anything. We all know there is no place in the world that charges 28% percent taxes on food. It's really ridiculous and money hungry on the hotel's part. It looks very ugly and money hungry on the hotels part. It's probably the reason why so many ppl choose hotel marbella and cayo arena. Hotel marbella only charged 10 percent which is decent. I forgot to mention that cleaning service on the room is just changing your towels, not really cleaning. The floor was really dirty and management should tell housekeeping they need to sweep..
