Reviewing this hotel will be a difficult thing. My experience in the hotel was, to be honest, checkered and inconsistent. I feel the best way, then, is to approach it in parts: LOCATION 5/5 Great location, at a 10 minute drive to the Malecón, El Morro and everything in between. PREMISES AND AMENITIES 5/5 It is a small hotel, so one expects zero to few amenities, but I was favorably surprised to see that in addition to the lobby with its full bar and the restaurant, there is a beautiful and large gazebo which could be great for a family or company gathering. There is a very nice pool with a beautiful deck area and a small kids playground off to its side. ROOMS 2/5 This is where things start to get tricky. The rooms are large and well decorated. You do get an impression that a good decorator did work with the space and gave it an upscale feel and so the rooms made a great first impression. Then you walk into the back to the closet/luggage area and you find what look like mice droppings in the corner of the top shelf. You discard the shelve's use and go to the bathroom to take a shower and find a nice set of towels and a bare set of toiletries, that didn't seem to be up to par with the hotel. The packaging even looked spent, as if they had been used and refilled over and over. Above, there were cobwebs in the ceiling and cracks in the upper walls that didn't give a good impression. Lastly and critical, the sheets were rough and grating, and the mattress extremely uncomfortable. The bedding itself didn't feel fresh and clean. I was toiling with giving this aspect of the stay an average score (3) but decided that the uncleanliness deserved a point deduction. STAFF 3/5 This was another tricky part. The staff is not the friendliest bunch, but most of them were extremely helpful in accommodating whatever this first-time traveler to the area needed. From finding me an amazing tour company to show me the nearby natural sights (Galleon Divers), to giving me advice and directions, to washing my travel mug in the kitchen so I could take my morning coffee with me. A little bit of a friendlier attitude would have gone long way. The problem here was also that some were borderline aloof and I also heard some of them arguing, which was uncomfortable. FOOD 3/5 The food options are limited, which is understandable, but I feel the menu needs to be a bit more diverse. The food itself wasn't bad, just not good. PRICE 3/5 Considering all of the above, had the rooms been clean and the mattress/bedding comfortable, I would have been happy with the price. But that disappointment weighs heavily on this score.…
This is a great place to stay. The rooms are very nice and everything is clean. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating (especially to our limited Spanish. Easy walk to mangrove tours or hiking. Restaurant has excellent food. Breakfast is included (not a buffet, order from the menu). If we had realized how nice this hotel was, we would have planned for a longer stay. Great views
We were on a quick business trip and our host had booked us for this hotel. What a pleasant surprise. We arrived late but the staff accommodated our dinner request. I'm from the Gulf Coast of Texas and can only eat fish if it's fresh! So, I usually stay away from fish when traveling. I decided to take a gamble and try their fish - what a pleasant surprise. Possibly the best I've had. We became good friends with the front desk manager, part- time cook, and waiter (same person). I'll definitely go there again if I get back that way, but I'll stay a couple of days this time.
Very nice hidden eco-friendly hotel outside of Monte Cristi. Mountain bikes available for use, but it is hot there so go early in the morning. Domingo at the front desk was very helpful and courteous. Hope to return next year.
Is a fabulous eco hotel. Quiet, natural environment of monte christi, with spacious and spotlessly clean chalet type accomodation. Easy access to the beach and activities.. such as canoeing, ATV, fishing, and close proxi to sceneic beauty..
