We came to Ilha de Mozambique as our first stop in a 17 day tour of Northern Mozambique. We had yet to be acclimatised to life in this area. We were expecting a town not too dissimilar to Stone Town in Zanzibar. We found a 'town' mostly in ruins or buildings in a really poor stated of affairs. What really... More

We were looking for a unique hotel in a good location close to restaurants that was clean, comfortable and offered good value for money. We were pleasantly surprised and we found almost exactly what we were after. We also found it to be very safe and would definitely go back if we were in the area again.

Opened only c. 2 years ago but having taken 9 years in its construction, this upmarket B&B lies in the old part of Stone Town, close to the Museum and Fort, and in easy walking distance of several nice restaurants. It is one of the rebuilt old houses which adds to its quirky character and unique arrangement of rooms. Each... More

Overall I enjoyed staying here, was my first time in the Island and admittedly this place had a fantastic view, in a (even more) quiet area. Nice room decoration, proximity to a couple restaurants and very friendly staff. That said, value for money also counts and in this department a few things could be improved: -Wifi , other places in... More

I've visited the Ilha de Moçambique last year and choose this guest house as the key point to relax and have fun. The location in the Island is great, near the Museum and close to the fortress and the Ponte Alfandega (which has a usable beach), also different restaurants are very close. The check in was perfect, easy and confortable,... More

After living in Mozambique for 4 years we wanted to stay somewhere special for our last trip to Ilha de Mocambique so we chose this hotel. The location is beautiful and the rooms are decorated with interesting and exotic touches but we were disappointed that the room we were given was not one of the nicer ones even though we... More

We took our Peace Corps volunteer son here for a few days' break and were delighted with Terraco. There are spectacular views of the ocean, full breakfast, exquisitely decorated rooms -- each with its own particular take on Indian and African art. There are not many rooms--we felt we had the run of the place. The manager was especially gracious.... More

I can't imagine a better place to stay on Ilha de Mozambique. This beautifully restored historic building offers wonderful rooms with unique decor in every space -- lots of little nooks and places to chill out. The rooftop offers the perfect vantage point to watch the sunset. This island is so small, location doesn't really matter, but TdQ is just... More

We stayed 4 days at Terraço das Quintandas at Ilha de Moçambique. Mr. Antonio, the hotel manager, was always very thoughtful and made sure we had an excelent stay. The rooms are uniquely decorated and facing the ocean. The mixed influences of African and Oriental furniture and art pieces made the rooms and common areas even more exotic. The swinging... More

During Xmas and New Year season, we spent some days in Ilha de Moçambique, near Nampula, north of Mozambique. Thanks to our friends who live in Maputo, we had the privilege to get to know and stay at "Terraço das Quitandas", a beautifully renovated and decorated guest-house in the Island. Isa and Sergio, the owners, have done a wonderful job... More
