All a bit disjointed and disappointing. Very slow service, long wait for food, the food was OK, but not great. Which was a shame because the place looked really nice and I expected to want to come back. Unfortunately I won't. Our waiter seemed very inexperienced and it is down to management to support them and make sure they are trained properly to be able to do the job and give visitors a good experience. You are charging higher prices, you need to provide a higher level of service.

We (group of 9) stayed for 2 nights in Yachay hotel and we all found the accommodation clean and relaxing: nature all around. The food is made on the spot, which can take a while (~1h). It tastes overall okay. Service is either understaffed or incompetent, which led to many forgotten orders, and we had the unpleasant surprise to find out they charged for them at the end of our stay anyway. The bill was unbelievably high, and the group before told us the same happened to them. The staff somewhat acknowledged the mistake and came to an agreement. *One advice: keep track on your own.*

We had an enjoyable stay at the property. The pros are the picturesque location/property, the very friendly staff and the yummy yummy food! Some callouts: the rooms don’t get freshened up daily - I understand the driver of this is to reduce footprint, but after days at the beach, sand and lots of water bottles, it would be been nice to get a tidy up. The second would be the speed of breakfast- each meal took over an hour from start to finish which is more acceptable in the evenings, but the mornings caused us to start our hikes late. Lastly, there is no shuttle service further into the park from the hotel and although buses may pass and have empty seats it was rare- this led to 50 minute walks from the hotel to the park entrance (plus 2-3 hours into the park to get to swimmable beaches). Beautiful hikes but I wish this was more known prior.

Let me start by saying this was the worst hotel stay we’ve had in Colombia! DO NOT STAY HERE! We showed up at 12:30pm for check-in, our room was not ready. We ended up waiting for 2.5 hours for the room. We weren’t even offered a complementary bottle of water while we waited in the heat, sweaty and tired from travelling. Once we finally got to the room it was not as advertised. The room we rented was a jr suite. In the photos posted on line it had a sofa, nightstands, and generally looked inviting. The room we got had none of this, there was one SMALL table in the corner of the room, and nowhere to sit. Further more there wasn’t proper window coverings, people could literally look in out windows and see us clearly as the only window covering was an extremely sheer piece of fabric. The beds are hard as a rock and must be the cheapest mattress that the owners could purchase. To add to the discomfort the pillows were equally cheap and hard as well. When we got to the room we wanted to shower but there wasn’t any water. This was an ongoing issue. Finally that night we had enough water to shower, however the next morning there was no water again! And with roughly 40 people in the hotel and no functioning toilets…..! Once when my wife asked for the water to be turned on so we could shower she was given a VERY rude looks and dismissive response from the OWNER! Now on to the food. The included breakfast was bland, it came with DRY toast. When I asked for butter or jam, I was informed the hotel didn’t have any of either! The bread for the toast was the cheapest bread one could buy. For dinner we waited for 1:45 for our food after ordering. Now this wasn’t the fault of the staff. There was only 1 server for over 40 people and he was required to mix the cocktails, take the orders and bring the food out. Also the kitchen only had 2 people working in it to prepare food for over 40 people. As for Managment/Owners, they sat at a table and were very rude to the only server they had while they took up a table as guests sat and waited on the sofa for a table to free up. For one dinner we asked for a side of guacamole and the owner would allow them to prepare it unless we ordered an additional dish that came with guacamole! Furthermore we ordered a side dish of fruit and they drastically over charged us for it. The general maintenance of the hotel is terrible. There were rotten railings that haven’t been addressed for years, creating a very serious safety issue. It was extremely clear to all the guests present that ownership wasn’t interested in spending money on their guests experience or comfort. Owners we’re present several occasions we were in the restaurant and not once did they even acknowledge the guests. Having travelled extensively throughout Colombia on 3 separate occasions, this was the worst managed/owned hotel I have encountered. The only good was our server Renzo was awesome. He literally ran off his feet to ensure guests were served to the best of his ability. And Susana at the front desk was as helpful as possible. It was blatantly clear that they weren’t able to do more for the guests comfort and pleasure cause they’re hands were tied. The overall arrogance and disregard for guests by the owners who were present was shocking! And the way they spoke/treated their staff was embarrassing. I genuinely feel sorry for the employees as they were in a high stress environment with ZERO assistance from the management/ownership!

I highly recommend Yachay Hotel to those that want to explore the Tayrona National park but still want some comfort (i.e.: no hammock or camping). The owners of the hotel are great, nice, welcoming, and attentive. Even before arriving they were engaging with me through WhatsApp and answering all my questions. They helped us book airport transportation and horse riding adventures (a little bit more expensive than if you do it with the companies that operate at the park, but Yachay works with a lady that treats her horses well). The food is great and the service is top-notch. The burger is to die for, but so are all their dishes! I went with my wife and 4 kids and we all loved our time there! Thaks Yachay family

I would not recommend this hotel. There is construction below our room when we asked at 10PM to have the noise stop the manager asked us to allow it til midnight! The construction is all day with no chance of relaxing in our room. The wifi is spotty at best and only in one small section of the restaurant. The food takes forever. Took 1:15 hours to get a wrap with only 1 table ahead of us. The kitchen and servers are under staffed but they try. There is nothing to do at this hotel

Unfortunately bad experiences. The rooms are too small for the price. The second day we returned from an excursion and found that they moved us from the room due to their mistake they had reserved for other people. The restaurant ran out of variety of food and the hotel was full. Not suitable for disabled people. Small paths and many steps. I do not recommend it.

A very good hotel where you can enjoy good rooms, good beds and delicious food. You are inside the tayrona park and very close to other nice natural attractions like rivers, springs, etc. You can walk among the trees and besides the sea.

We loved our stay at Yachay overall. The location is perfect. If you want to stay overnight in Tayrona but don't want to rent a hammock or sleep in a tent or spend $500 a night at the expensive eco lodge, Yachay is perfect for you. The grounds are gorgeous and it was really magical. It is so peaceful, and you are surrounded by the jungle. We saw monkeys, hummingbirds, toucans, and sloths!! from the property. The room was kind of small and it's not a super fancy place, but you are staying at a lodge in the jungle!! For us, it was perfect, and for staying in the jungle, it is actually really nice. The water in the shower was cold, but it wasn't terrible. And the staff was really kind, welcoming, and friendly. The restaurant is the only place where we had some trouble. We are both vegan and they had some trouble offering us vegan options. Which is OK, we are pretty chill about eating out when we travel and always have back up plans for food just in case. But I hope that more and more, places that are "eco" friendly will start offering more vegan and plant based options because meat, fish, and dairy are not eco friendly at all, as these industries are all massive contributors to climate change and environmental destruction. This is my only suggestive feedback to an otherwise really lovely, wonderful place. If you are staying overnight in Tayrona, and I really suggest that you do, as this park is MAGICAL, you should definitely stay at Yachay!

We were really looking forward to our stay in the middle of the national park. The location is amazing set high above the trees, and this place could be amazing, but unfortunately it feels very unfinished and there is a general lack of effort. The rooms are very very basic for the price, and the ceiling was missing in the bathroom above our shower. When we asked for white wine at dinner, they had no cold wine as they hadn't put any in the fridge and it was warm. There is no offer of cocktails in the evening either after you get back from your long hike, which would be really nice considering you are on holiday... The hotel could be amazing in the location it is in, and I understand it's an ecohotel in the middle of the jungle, but extra touches and a bit of decoration and warmth from staff would be nice. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.
