We booked the kibo safari camp for two nights to begin our safari trip from Amboseli national park.
As soon as we arrived, I was amazed to see such a beautiful hotel in that area. We were greeted very nicely and were given welcome drinks and hot towels on arrival. The check in was very smooth and the staff was very nice to show us around and settle us in our tent.
The tent was outstanding! It was spacious, comfortable and everything that one would need during the stay was available in the rooms and bathrooms. The bed had a mosquito netting, which wasn’t really necessary because the room didn’t have any bugs or mosquitoes inside. The view from the tent was beautiful.
The property is decorated and designed very nicely. There’s a spa, a bar, a restaurant area, a pool, souvenir shop and a place with a bonfire to chill in the night and look at the stars.
The food at the kibo safari camp was outstanding. Breakfast, lunch, dinner had a lot of options and they all tasted very good. They had a pizza station at dinner time which I loved a lot.
To make the experience a whole lot better, the camp is staffed with the nicest and most professional people. You feel welcomed and being taken care of. Dunken, the head waiter would always come to us at dinner and breakfast and ask us about our time, game drives, food quality and suggestions. The whole experience felt very personal.
Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable. I highly recommend this place and would love to come back again.

Our trip to Kibo was fantastic. We came for the view and the wildlife, and ended up extending our trip because of the sheer hospitality and warm nature of the staff. Having been to several safari lodges in the Amboseli region, I can honestly say that Kibo was the best.
We travelled with our 2 year old and the amount of care the staff took of her, her meals, snacks and milk feeds was unlike anything we have experienced at any lodge. For parents I would say Kibo is the absolute best option because the property is very kid friendly. Lots of open spaces for them to run around in and staff who are all too happy help with kids. Neema from the restaurant made sure she helped us to wash and sterilize bottles, while Duncan the head waiter ensured that milk for her and coffee for mummy was waiting for us in the rooms at any given time. Chef Alex and his team went above and beyond in preparing my 2 year olds favorite meals and we indulged in the amazing wood fired pizzas and some really good Indian foods too.
Liz from the spa became pals with my daughter and was all too happy to play with her as we watched the gorgeous snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro by the fire and had a few cocktails made by Conrad (the happiest bartender I have ever met).
The rooms were comfortable and there was never an issue with bugs or hot water. We slept like babies after doing the Safari in the Kibo vehicle where we enjoyed seeing some Cheetahs, elephants, and flamingoes and saw one of the most spectacular sunsets from the observation hill.
I have too many good things to say about this property and we will be back, and will be back with our friends as everyone should experience the Kibo hospitality just as we did. The highlights for us were the wonderful staff and the incredible food. The GM Ben was personally checking up on all the guests and making sure that they have the best possible experience. We left there feeling sad to leave and waiting to go back as soon as we can.
If you are traveling to Amboseli- Kibo is the ONLY way to go.

Just driving to get to this camp is part of the experience. The bumpy road, the animals along the way just adds to the beauty of this place. Arriving at the camp was absolutely a thrill. The staff readily had a welcome drink as soon as I left the safari jeep. I had a nice warm welcome followed by an easy check-in. The staff lady pulled my two luggage to my tent. The walkway to my tent was mysterious as many different plants lined up along the way. I was told to watch out for the silly monkeys who playfully are on the roof. True enough, two monkeys were playing just outside my tent. My tent was clean, with two single beds and clean mosquito nets. The fire pit was very nice and a place where you can unwind after a long drive. The same day as I arrived, I booked myself a nice massage. My masseuse was great in relaxing my tired muscles. I sure was relaxed after that session. Buffet dinner and breakfast always offered a variety of different dishes. I say, just look at your table to make sure there are no flying, crawling insects. This is expected because we are in the wild. Charles, one of the staff always had a nice, upbeat personality, making sure the guests are comfortable. There was one time that I came in after an afternoon safari and I was so hungry. Dinner was not served yet, but the staff made sure I had something to eat. I appreciate this because they know how to take care of their guests. Overall, the camp was an awesome place to stay after a game drive but the staffs made my stay an enjoyable, relaxing one. Will I be back? Definitely!

This is a very nice camp. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The tendons are spacious and comfortable, however a few minor upgrades could be made to some furnishings. The swimming pool is spacious and very welcoming after a hot dusty DAY on a game drive. The bar area is very nice to relax and have a cocktail in the evening before dinner. I also enjoyed the fire pit area. The Camp had recently just reopened after being closed to the COVID-19 situation. There were hand washing and hand standard patient's located throughout the Area. The food was average to a bit above average served by Buffet style, And there was a large variety of items offered. Everyone should be able to find something they will really enjoy. I would definitely recommend this can and would return.

I traveled to Kibo with a group of friends and had the most amazing time! On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff with some cold sanitizing hand towels and mocktails. Within a few minutes, we were allocated rooms and so we headed off to get freshened up. The walk to the tented rooms in itself was a beautiful sight! Nature all around and the stunning view of Mount Kilimanjaro! The rooms were well equipped and the beds were quite comfortable. We enjoyed drinks at the bar before dinner. Despite having a large spread of delicacies for meal times, the chef was more than happy to meet our food requests if we had any. At night, a toasty bonfire is set up for everyone to gather around and during the day, the pool provides for a nice cooling escape. The camp is located quite close to the main gate of the national park and therefore, the drive to and fro was super easy. Kibo is definitely the place you want to visit to enjoy a nice and quite relaxing time. Not only do you get stunning 360° views, but quality service and enjoyment is guaranteed. Thank you for taking care of us Kibo Safari Camp! Hope to visit again soon.

Kibo Safari Camp was our first stop on leaving Nairobi. The journey from Nairobi is over 4 hours down the Mombasa road with all it's slow moving heavy trucks but the journey was uneventful and, in many respects, the townships were cleaner and more organised than I had expected. The roads too were better that I expected only really becoming truly dreadful within a mile or so - not a journey you want to make at night!
The Camp is a haven of calm, everything was well organised, the accommodation really comfortable (it's a tent but not like I'd ever seen!) with all the expected facilities - swimming pool, bar not taking away from the experience (which they so easily could). Food was excellent, beds were excellent. Waking up to stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro was probably the icing on the cake. A great experience.

Our two night stay at Kibo was not what we were hoping for. We were given first a room named FH (Family H). These were huts designed for families located just oposiste to the staff accomdation area just separated by a fence. There was a lot of noise from staff until late al night preventing from peaceful resting and sleeping. Please note that the main reason for comming was to do game drives whith an early start at 5.30 am in the morning. The security guard was contacted to see whether he could warn the staff about the noise but the message was disregarded by the staff. On the second night we were changed to room 55 in an oposite area of the camp which was more tranquile. However the change over of rooms was not handled in an empathic and understanding way by the reception Team which seems to be managed by trainees.
Restaurant: another detail, we asked for a coke zero and they brought a bottle which had the plain label of CocaCola, no indication of Zero. The waiter reasured us that the label was like that for Zero Coke. On tasting, the drink tasted like the plain CocaCola and the lead waiter replied that if we did not like it we should not order that again. The buffet food is average.
Wifi: we knew upfront that only the reception area was equipped with wifi however the signal or the band available was very poor that we couln´t even send Whatssap messages.
Overall Kibo is a beautiful camp in the design, very well located just close to the entrance to the National Park but we feel we paid as per the advert "Luxury tented camp hotel" and received the service of a two star hotel.
This hotel receives a large number of guests daily, is very commercialised and quality is not at the core. As an example, the linen both in the bedrooms and dining tables was not clean.

Kibo Safari camp is home away from home for us when we go to Amboseli. Our family was able to stay in the comfort of clean well decorated tented rooms. In this time of Covid with two very young atopic children, it's crucial that cleanliness and protocols are followed to the letter. At this camp, the manager, staff and especially a gentleman by the name of Charles ensured that all protocols were followed. Charles and Chef Eliud ensured my kids meals were made specifically to their needs. Something that we truly appreciate from Kibo. Thank you!
The service was excellent from restaurant, to the room service and even the groundskeepers. The beds comfortable. The food variety ensured everyone had something they could enjoy eating. As a coastal person; I would hint a little improvement on the style of making the fresh fish. Otherwise the food was excellent, and you cannot go wrong trying the paneer!
My only recommendation to you guest who is reading is that you kindly help the management by keeping your mask on while serving food or walking around the premises. Washing hands regularly. If we each did our part, all of us have each other's best interest at heart and we can keep each other safe, and continue traveling :) Wish you all a safe trip wherever you may be visiting this coming year! Best wishes 2021!

The camp is beautifully set up with great views of Mt.Kilimanjaro and unlike the other camps we stayed at in other parks, it was fenced and there wasn't much threat of wildlife inside the camp. This was both a good thing (as it brought some peace of mind) and a bad thing (as the camp was also much larger and felt more commercial and lost that connect with nature). However, this is probably biased based on our previous 10 days in the Mara and Serengeti.
We had a great dinner at the buffet and we also had a few Indian items made for us and it was great food. The dinner area is a large area with dozens of people seated and this helps since you get a much wider spread but it's also a much noisier and brighter environment. The juice provided were canned and not fresh juice. The breakfast was good too.
The only gripe is that there is absolutely no food in off-hours. Not even sandwiches or other basics. Given this is such a large property, it shouldn't be that hard to do this.
We enjoyed our stay at the camp and we would recommend it to everyone. Just expect it to be a little more commercial if you're coming from one of the smaller and cosier accommodations at other parks.

Hello, there is no water whole for the animals. You can only chance to see them from afar.but all in all kibo is a good camp
Hello, Incase you have not heard feedback we can help you with the booking
Hello! It’s about an hour away. It’s in the same route, only a few miles away but the road is a bit messy. Kibo is a wonderful place to stay at! Have a safe trip!
Hi,
I m sure you can, you can plan this with the driver the night before but i recommend you to take the full day Game drive so you can see more and you can have a unforgettable picnic in the savanna too. It is pretty much exhausting to stay 8h or so in the car but definitely worth the pain at the end of the day. 3 h drive you will just go few kms away from the Camp.
You can book it for an extra fee, but it's not included. The camp is outside the national park.
