A one of a kind experience.. The place is just magical.. something out of a movie.. I hope to come back soon and spend more time.. 2 nights was not enough. The small town is charming and quaint and the hotel owners are so hospitable and accommodating. Not to mention what a great food ...with my wine sitting under the full moon.. spectacular.. take me back!!
This place is just amazing! Stephan and Christine make you feel at home at there beautiful boutique hotel in the center of a fairytale medieval village. Christine cooks a great dinner and Stephan does just about everything else, they both do a great job! We will be back for sure!!
The hosts are wonderful, and the food and wine fantastic. Incredible value and a very charming atmosphere in the hotel and village. The landscape is beautiful, with cooler nights and warm days in the summer. A truly rare find in this region!
Situated in a fantastic setting in the hills Torre Laurentii is in the center of the town surrounded by old walls. The hotel is a dream and the owners incredibly charming. They cook fantastic food. Ask them about their olive oil :-)
During August four families including 8 adults and 10 children spent two weeks at Torre Laurentii. In short it proved to be one of the most memorable properties we have collectively stayed at - a truly unique venue. Stephan and Cristina were wonderful hosts and consistently went the extra mile in terms of making the holiday a truly wonderful experience for all of us. The accommodation was great, well maintained and very clean. The village of Sant Llorenc is extremely picturesque and charming. We all hope to return at some point to this very special place. Thanks Stephan and Cristina.
This is a long overdue review for our Honeymoon visit in August 2015! We had originally booked 2 nights at this quiet and charming hotel, but my husband got sick and we had to cut the visit to one night. Up to the last day we did not know if we could make it, but the owners worked with us and held a room for us. We got there just before we were due to leave for our reservation at the Dali museum. When I sat down in the tranquil al fresco dining area, I just couldn't get up and leave-I had to relax with a coffee, much to the chagrin of my husband. The grounds are so serene and the town so remote (by my standards, coming from NYC) that it is easy to sink right down into my comfort zone. Exiting back out of the town from where we parked was another story-super narrow streets with children playing around the car-would have been charming if not terrifying. Best to ask for explicit instructions before driving around in town on your own. Dinner. Was. Amazing. I don't say this as some kind of gourmand, but as a person who travels with a spouse with severe food intolerances. While I can (and did) eat anything I got my hands on- in this case a tender steak with a dreamy sauce, my husband is normally not so lucky, what with being gluten, dairy, tomato and sugar-free. Christina made him gluten-free pasta and a really good gluten-free baguette, as well as thoughtfully whipped up some zucchini carpaccio. And meals were served in an exclusive-feeling al fresco setting. I loved the bedroom! Each one is unique, some furnished with antiques bought from other countries. I especially loved the Venetian chandelier we had in full view from the oversized tub. The only unfortunate thing was that we had to check out the next a.m. and move quickly on to our next destination. I'm hoping we get a chance to return for a longer stay someday!…
We arrived tired after a long hot drive and were made extremely welcome. This is an amazing building, lovingly refurbished and truly delightful. Our room, on a first floor veranda was small but perfectly adequate with a very impressive en-suite. Outside the door in the shade were chairs with a view over the inner courtyard and fountain. The evening meal was excellent as was breakfast. Located in a characterful small village we enjoyed a slow wander around the walls of this charming place. in the cool of the morning before having to depart to continue our journey into France. Would have loved to stay longer and perhaps will at some time in the future. The entrance to the Hotel is in the centre of the Village with extremely narrow streets and the sat nav will direct you this way. The actual car park is at the rear of the hotel with much better access from the main street.…
We wanted to do some walking in northern Spain, and found out about this hotel on the Internet. Stephan met us at Figures Station and took us back to his charming hotel which he runs with his wife Christina. We had three full days there and manage to walk straight out from the hotel on a different route every day. Day one was a shortish walk in the morning down the riverbank followed by lunch in one of the squares in the very pretty village of St Llorenc. In the afternoon we walked up to the tower the hard way up the steps and then down to st Anthony and back along the river, It was a lovely walk. Monday too we walked up to San Jordi and a bit beyond, The views were superb. On our third day we walk to Santa Magdalena along the ridge and then back down the road. This signposting is not great and will draw you a map to help follow the correct route. The scenery it Is well worth the effort of walking albeit up and down some steep inclines! Hotel and village are very quiet which makes for a very relaxing stay. The food is superb and Stephanie was a great host, we would certainly recommend this for a short walking break particularly if you do not want rent a car.…
If you crave a few peaceful days in beautiful surroundings, with amazing hosts and top-notch food then spend a few days at this lovely little place! We spent three nights here and I couldn't have hoped for a better stay. Their property is beautiful and with the pool you could really just hang out here and relax. But if you want to get out a little, it's an easy trip to the Dali museum and a short drive to Cadaques (beware August Cadaques traffic though). There's also some short walking trails around the village and the river. Stephan is a amazing host - checks in on you without bothering you, has a great sense of humor and both he & Cristina speak perfect English so can help you get around if you don't speak Catalan. We ate dinner on site all three nights and these were consistently the best three meals we ate over a two-week trip around Spain. Cristina's creativity with ingredients was lovely, not overpowering or showmanship-y - just enough to benefit the taste (and give Stephan things to talk about as he explained which ingredient came from which local farm). We had a room with an A/C but didn't use it - even though we were there during the hottest part of August - but not all rooms have A/C so request it if it's important to you. Go. Stay here!…
I slept one night in my trip crossing the Pyrenees by mountain bike. This hotel is really excellent, it is at the beginning of the village inside a really old building. Very well managed and really comfortable. The rooms are very big and you can walk to the center of the village to see how beautiful it is, small and nice. I ask for some favors and I was completely satisfied. I slept very well and I was able to relax myself before leaving the next morning. Thanks for the manager, compliments! If you are around here it worth the time and the experience.
