My girlfriend and I originally planned to stay for 7 days but we extended to 10 days as we were enjoying our stay so much.

The bedroom was clean and comfortable and the breakfast menu was a large selection of healthy and delicious foods and the Evening dinner was always something wholesome and cooked to perfection.

We decided on Mas Pelegri hotel so we could enjoy a holiday but also continue our triathlon training and we were not disappointed. We received one on one coaching from Gareth with beautiful cycling views and swiming at there hotel pool and at the local lake, including Morning Yoga sessions from Fiona and recovery massages to relax in the evening.

The level of hospitality and attention to our needs was amazing from both Gareth and Fiona and I can easily say that we left Mas Pelegri making friends that we will surely keep in touch with and hopefully get to stay there again.

My husband, son and I stayed at Mas Pelegri for a week in September 2021. I wish we could have stayed longer. It is such a special place. The patrons, Fiona and Gareth, run this great cycling hotel, although it is so much more than 'just' a hotel. There is a 25 metre pool which is kept spotlessly clean, and the rooms are lovely. We had the garden suites, which have AC should you need that. Apart from renting really good bikes, with Gareth's expert help and advice about set up, etc, you can also do morning yoga with Fiona, who is a superb teacher. There is so much information on hand about great bike routes, walking and running trails, that we only scratched the surface in our time there. Banyoles is the nearby town (about 10 mins in a car, or 30 mins by bike), and has a beautiful lake where we went kayaking, organised for us by Fiona and Gareth. It's a very pleasant small town for eating out and shopping. Fiona and Gareth are amazing hosts, and you only have to mention that you would like to do something or have a query and they will immediately help. The breakfasts, which are included in the room price, are delicious and very filling, preparing one for the strenuous cycling! The evening meals are equally delicious and varied, using fresh ingredients. Fiona and Gareth are really lovely people, committed totally to what they do. Their ethos to be off-grid and sustainable is so refreshing. We can't wait to go back!

My wife and I spent a week at this hotel over Easter 2019 on recommendation of a friend who had stayed there previously. We are in our early/mid 40s and wanted to train for our first 70.3 triathlon.

On contacting the hotel, Fiona recommended that we join a small group training camp, which is what we applied for. But as no one else joined we ended up with a week of personal training at no extra cost. This was incredibly excellent value for money! Gareth was brilliant and gave us tons of tips and tricks. We learnt so much during this week, particularly in cycling and swimming as our background is more running. The rental bikes were also top-quality – it was the first and only time I used a bike with electronic gearing. In the race in June we both achieved our goals, thanks in a large part to what we learnt during this week.

The area is perfect for triathlon training. For cycling there is fantastic scenery, not much traffic and a good mix of flat and hills. For swimming there is the lake 15 minutes away by car which has a 500m long section reserved for swimmers. Running trails are on the doorstep as the hotel in the middle of the countryside.

The building and complex was originally a pilgrims’ hostel which had fallen into ruin and has been perfectly renovated to retain many original features. We enjoyed very much relaxing in the afternoon in the sun-lounge or outside on the terrace. It’s very peaceful with no sound of any traffic. In addition to breakfast we also ate on site most evenings and the food was always excellent. The evening meal is a set three-course menu and is aimed at people who have had an active day. They also offer local wines and beers.

Due to Covid our 2020 June annual Muppet RC biking trip to Mas Pelegri had to be deferred, this was made easy by our kind hosts. As a group we made the choice to test and travel this year and our hosts at the hotel, Fiona & Gareth, could not have made us more welcome or made us feel more safe. They went above and beyond in their protocols to ensure our group was well looked after at their lovely hotel and yet gave us wonderful food, advice on routes to bike & back up support and on road repairs to enable us to ride, feast, swim in their huge 25mt pool and rest in the sun and restore our joy in holidaying together and being completely looked after. I highly recommend this hotel both in covid times and beyond. A wonderful place to stay and stunning area to visit, on a bike or off it..

My husband and I stayed at the wonderful Mas Pelagri in June on a cycling holiday travelling from the UK. Both the preparation and planning was made super easy by Fiona and Gareth who answered every question and query we had with kindness, speed and helpfulness.
The trip was so easy and relaxing with transport, superb food and drinks , bike hire (for me), local route planning (cycling, running, walking), swimming pool, yoga studio, and table tennis all part of our trip and provided by the team at Mas Pelagri.

Room was lovely and the thick stone walls keep the heat nicely out. Beautiful view of the countryside from our bedroom window.

Can't thank Fiona and Gareth enough for a making holiday that was much needed so enjoyable. We will most definitely be back to stay again.

Excellent base for cycling the best routes in the area just north of Girona. Friendly, welcoming staff who are always on hand to advise with routes etc. A well equipped secure bike room with complimentary laundry facilities. A large clean king bedded room with an ensuite shower room provided a great place to stay for a few days. Fiona and the team provided a wonderful breakfast to fuel you for the days' activities.
I must stress that a rental car is required as there are literally no restaurants, supermarkets etc. within walking distance. The lovely lakeside town of Banyoles is a short distance away and provides a great choice of dining options in the evening as well as numerous supermarkets etc.
All in all a great stay.

We stayed 1 week in May.We had super weather for biking hiking and swimming. We brought our tandem and came with another couple who rode solo bikes.
We were fitted out c good bikes which were set up particularly for us. We were advised on routes from the house which were within our capability. We followed routes already on Strava. We had never followed routes on Strava before so this was an education.
The best thing about Mas Pelegrí though is Gareth and Fiona who are supportive hosts.Whether you have come to train for triatholons and improve your skills riding your bike or your swimming style or you have just come to enjoy the beautiful countryside they know how to help you.
I enjoyed swimming in the pool and doing Yoga every morning in the sunshine.
It was very good to be cooked for everyday. The food and wine were excellent.
I would highly recommend a stay here.

We had a fantastic stay in Mas Pelegri in late June. We booked two adjoining Garden Suites which provided plenty of space for the family as well as a terrace to sit on - when not sitting beside the pool or sitting in front of the main house or walking on any of a huge variety of trails or cycling on any of an even huger range of routes (I borrowed a bike for half a day to cycle around the lake in nearby Banyules, and it was great fun).

Fiona and Gareth couldn't have been nicer: they were always at hand to recommend excursions, and advise on walking or cycling routes. Hats off to them for what they've created in Mas Pelegri, especially the strong emphasis on sustainability and renewable energy.

We all look forward to returning on a future holiday!

All the staff of the hotel are really on a mission to take care of their guests and making sure you have a pleasant stay.
I had some issues with my bike when I arrived and they went above and beyond to help me and make sure I was ready to ride the next day. They were completely flexible to meet my needs.
Breakfast and dinner were amazing, big portions and healthy food, just what you need to fuel long days on the bike.
I got great tips for exploring the surroundings by bike (including GPX routes) and even tips for my swimming.
If you are an enthusiastic cyclist or triathlete this is definetely the place to be.

Just finished a 10 day cycle holiday with 36 other Canadian bike riders staying at Mas Pelegrín. Our hosts, Garreth, Fiona and Eli, offered a superlative level of service as they navigated through many guest inflicted challenges with humour and grace. We had a fabulous time with lovely accommodations, delicious food, spectacular cycling and even morning yoga sessions with cats!

Hi can you tell us whether the pool is open mid-October please? Is there any lake swimming nearby? Thanks!
Answer from Fiona S
Girona, Spain32 contributions16 helpful votes
The onsite pool is open year round and has a solar pool cover over it in the cooler months. You may also require a wetsuit between November and April depending on how used to cold water you are. We do have a few wetsuits on site if you require one. Thank you.
