We stay in this beautiful wine resort for two days and wanted more. Checkin was a breeze they took us up to the room a nice gentleman by the name of Angel very helpful and informative. We where given a room above the river which was breathtaking but a little dark . The grounds and facilities are beautiful. The restaurant and service was great and all meals where delicious. The wine tasting in their bodega was excellent .The spa was the the old mill with great views and massages by Ana. Everything we wanted and more hope to return soon.

Service extremely poor. Lack of staff in all places e.g bar, restaurant and terrace. Had to find staff ourselves to get a drink on the terrace as lack off. Not one person hovering around the entrance to the breakfast room so we just sat down and helped ourselves. It was not busy - 4 other people eating. Waited 5 mins for a staff member to ask us what we wanted to drink ! Food in the restaurant was superb but again the service terrible. Waited and waited for someone to show us our table. No chair pulled out, no napkin put on our laps, not offered water and served Cava in a white wine glass. This is not 5 star service which I have been fortunate to have a few times before. The room was very authentic with great views of the river but extremely dark (especially to put make up on). The bed was superb. The language barrier was a problem. Having stayed in a few 5* star places around the world most of the staff speak English, this was not the case here. Spanish guest were looked after much more than others, which was very noticeable. I would appreciate a response from Management as they only seem to reply to positive reviews, not negative.

Stayed here 2 adults and 13 yr old child, for 3 nights end of August 21., booked into a ‘Villa Deluxe’. The website sells a luxury experience. ‘Small Luxury Hotels of the World’, ‘Luxury Travel Guide’ paraphernalia adorning the welcome lounge. Naturally our expectations were high, unfortunately the experience didn’t match. In summary, in need of investment in staff training and design. Perhaps the Covid shut down and struggle to re-open has played a part in this but i read have now read a number of reviews from pre-COVID echoing my sentiments, seems the comments have fallen on deaf ears. The gushing 5 star reviews must have been enjoying the wine a bit too much. Checkin and welcome were courteous and informative. A ‘luxury’ hotel might offer a refreshing cold towel and perhaps a glass of cava, none of this was evident. Having not arranged the dinner reservation that had been promised at checkin, a table was hastily arranged at the end of the lawn. A lovely, peaceful setting but the waiters had to traipse back and forth over 20 m of lawn to serve us and other diners, needless to say they were not frequent in their attention. The sun set soon after being seated, after which there was an exciting 45 mins in complete darkness whilst we tried to eat our dinner whilst holding mobile phones. The garden lights then came on so we could see what we had dropped to the ground, but provided no greater illumination of the table and contents. The food was fine though be careful with the Torta de Dehesa, definitely a two person sharer. The pork based option was enough for two of us to share also (with an insatiable 13 yr old) If you cater for many British, American and Northern Europeans a few vegetarian options would be welcome. I remember there being one in addition to the death by cheese. ‘Staff from outer space’ (see earlier review) it seems little has changed. I’m not sure if our waiters had received any training whatsoever, didn’t know the names of the wine were (I wasn’t expecting a sommelier) but when i order a Syrah even with my anglicised Spanish accent, a blank look and the sound of a cow mooing weren’t exactly what i expected. Waiter stacked our finished plates like he was clearing a canteen than asked us to place our used cutlery on top! Obvs as his hands were full. Generally miserable and lacking any charm. Cheerful and courteous waiters could somewhat lessen the affect of the lack of even basic training. Room needs much attention, dead spider splatted in to wall, cobwebs not cleaned away, extremely uncomfortable sofa-bed (see earlier reviews) coffee machine charging €2 per capsule for any more than the allotted. A 400% mark up- really! (See earlier reviews). They promote ‘simple’ styling - a potted plant or two and easy chair in the bedroom wouldn’t go amiss. A ‘do not disturb’ sign might have prevented the cleaners barging into the room. Also a toilet brush has its uses. Bathroom reminiscent of the stables it once was. Dated, bleak. A small whirlpool bath in the corner to the tennis court sized bathroom. Do people really enjoy sitting in these things? If they do then perhaps a walk in shower would be a decent facility in a ‘villa deluxe’ in a ‘luxury’ hotel. I’m tired of nearly breaking my neck clambering into a bathtub to take a shower. (See earlier reviews) I had to use my head torch to illuminate the wardrobe due to the dim/non existent lighting, else i might have walked out for dinner in my wife’s clothes. The deluxe villa had a semi-private sun terrace, shame that the loungers were dusty and had at least one long blond hair in residence- none of us are blond. The photos implied that this level of room shared a private plunge pool, not the case. We shared the long, narrow, slightly strange communal pools in the garden. Wine tasting (included in room price) was well hosted, very informative and enjoyable. Makes sense as we left with 12 bottles of v nice Syrah and Rose Cava. Room rate €374 per night, we departed a day early as we’d had enough ‘luxury’ for one week.

A wonderful three day sojourn at this magical place. All the staff were helpful, thoughtful and with a really positive attitude , COVID managed very well, masks in all public places and protocols fully explained and observed . From the moment we arrived we were looked after with a great personal touch and great recommendations - the best dinner dishes, the wine to go with them and also best places to walk and eat nearby. Luckily we had booked our spa visit in advance and after a packed day in Salamanca (an architectural museum ) coming back for a late afternoon massage and jacuzzi was very special. It’s only for two at a time so make sure you book in advance. The cheese and wine tasting is not to be missed and the story telling brings the history to life. We will be back.
