Lodge, food & service was outstanding Location of the room & restaurant was beautiful especially at sunset & night time The service was amazing, we were picked up from the airport & we were very well welcomed once at the lodge. Always looked after. The food was delicious, they grow their own vegetable and the salad was amazing. You pick an advance what you would like to eat and it is served upon your assigned time. There was a small but great variety of food to choose from.

The campsite was really nice. Spacious places for our camperjeep. Good facilities on the campsite, your own toilet, shower en area to prepare your own food. Nice pool, biggest we have seen in Namibia and a very nice Looking restaurant/bar with great views. If we visit that part of Namibia again we would definately go back

We enjoyed our stay at Kaoko Mopane Campsite. The campsite was very nice, shaded with toilet, shower and private kitchen. During our day on site, we enjoyed the beautiful pool and billiards. The evening meal was simply excellent. The staff, South African and local, were very synaptic and helpful. We recommend this campsite!

On the website, this accommodation looks very appealing and the price seems attractive. Unfortunately, it turned out to be rather disappointing on-site. The cleanliness of the rooms left much to be desired. Dead insects had accumulated on the poorly closing mosquito nets. The air conditioning was unbelievably loud and unusable at night. To our misfortune, the pool was completely drained on our arrival day. Since it was also not possible to book activities, we didn’t know what to do in the afternoon with temperatures over 35 degrees Celsius. The lodge’s grounds do not offer many options. The manager suggested taking a trip into the town of Opuwo, which was not an option for us and perhaps not the best tip for tourists either. We are giving 2 stars for the friendly kitchen team and the tasty dinner. There is also significant potential for improvement in the service, but everyone was very attentive. At first glance, it’s a nice accommodation, but a closer look reveals many shortcomings.

The track from the main road was a bit "hit and miss " and could do with more signage. Our chalet overlooked the dry river bed but the staff member who showed us around was not too sure how the air cooler worked, and the tea/coffee machine was a complicated piece of equipment when a simple kettle would suffice. A huge bathroom in which you could swing a dozen cats! We strolled around the grounds and campsite which were really lovely but were a bit put off by the fairies. Is this a site for little girls?
Dinner was great, with veggies from the garden and a huge pork chop. The twinkling fairy lights were a little distracting. Breakfast was the normal fare, though we had to ask for butter and toast.
We settled our account but it took 3/4 hour and several attempts on the calculator as prices had changed the previous day (so we were told) before we all came to agreement. We felt the staff, although happy and helpful, would benefit from more in-depth training.
It was a comfortable stay and better than the other option in Opuwo, but less fairies would be better. The owners are improving things all the time and we wish them all the best in the future. đź‘Ť

Having suffered a vehicle breakdown & having it repaired in Opuwa, which was not on part of the planned route, Gerrit helped with the of loading. When we spoke about a place to camp he said, please visit mine just outside of town. On arrival we were met with beautifull lawns, a dining area with ice cold beer & incredibly friendly staff. We were given a choice of campsites, each with its own kitchen & bathroom area & the donkeys were stoked by the staff to provide much needed warm showers. This happened again early the next morning. Wood was also delivered for our evening braai A wonderfull breakfast was served the next morning after which we could continue our trip, the vehicle having been repaired. A huge thank you to Gerrit & his incredible staff for being the “angels” we needed. It is much appreciated

When we arrived in Opuwo and were refuelling, Gav asked the petrol attendant which campsite he recommended and he gave us a piece of paper with the name of Kaoko Mopane. We were not disappointed. Antonio who runs the lodge was amazing. Efficient and so friendly. We immediately felt at home. We decided to stay here for 2 nights. The lodge and campsite have been constructed using natural and recycled materials and it gives the place such a charming rustic feel. The gardens are beautiful and all the little garden decorations show that a lot of love and thought have gone into the building of this lodge. We decided to spoil ourselves to dinner at the restaurant and even though we were the only 2 people eating, they went all out. WiFi is available in the restaurant area but it doesn't reach the campsite. There is also a lovely pool but somehow we didn't get around to trying it out. Highly recommended!

We stayed two nights in a campsite with our vehicle and tent. There are all the comforts on the campsite, water, electricity, and we had all the toilets just for us. We benefited from the swimming pools and restaurant facilities with free coffee and tea. The food is good, however in the evening there is no menu, it is obligatory buffet but very good grilled meats. The staff is very friendly, we enjoyed our stay and it is 5 minutes from the entrance to Etoscha Park

Very nicely laid out and well-maintained campsite. Antonio the manager and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The dinner in the restaurant tasted excellent and was prepared with vegetables from their own garden. Campsites with private spotlessly clean sanitary facilities.

A calm and relaxing place, a natural place and a nice swimming pool to cool off with the family. The staff, the owner, all are warm and welcoming. The food is made from garden produce for some dishes, and everything is very well cooked. Be careful to read the directions noted on the site because Google maps does not indicate the correct path.
