El Convento is a very special retreat centre. Our ashtanga yoga is taught on a yoga deck that overlooks the Sierra de las Nieves natural park and our teacher, Nic Freeman, was trained and has been blessed to teach by the creator of Ashtanga yoga, K. Pattabhi Jois. Nic teaches from beginner to advanced students, so you do not need to be able to bend like a pretzel..We understand that when your family begins to grow, priorities change and so we are one of the few retreats world-wide that offer child-care during yoga classes and throughout the day so you can regain your balance. Our food is not the mass-produced and souless fare of some retreats but is vegetarian, organic and from the most local souce possible. Our chef, Bianca, has cooked all over the world and fills the table every day with freshly baked bread, salads, curries, daal, gazpacho or heavenly cake. Our accommodation is simple but beautiful with our bohemian bell-tents, tipis and huts. We don't believe that having a plasma television and private balcony will make your holiday more restful. Instead, we give you the mountains, the gardens, the terraces and the rivers to wander through, meditate on, socialise in or simply sit next to.We aren't damaging our environment by building ill-fitting dormitories or wasting vast amounts of water on poorly sourced plants. Instead, we use the clean mountain water, piped directly from the spring, power ourselves on solar energy only and encourage energy efficiency with both indoor and outdoor showers as well as contemporary and compost toilets. In all, we are not a manicured illusion of nature, we are part of the real deal. We would love to share what we consider to be the most beautiful place on the planet with you and so our prices are affordable and our yoga accessible to all.

This was our first family yoga retreat. Our daughter is 2 years old and not going to kindergarten and it was her first experience being under the care of strangers. It went very well. The retreat had a professional taking care of the children and abundant very friendly

We attended the family yoga retreat in August 2017. On a whim we booked it after a very stressful year and despite being anxious about taking three young children (5, 3, 5 months) we had the most incredible time and met some truly great people. Nic and Henriette went out of

I'd always had a dream of a family yoga holiday, but on investigation, it became apparent that they are not (yet) much of 'a thing'. However Nic, his own family and their team are way ahead of the curve here, having been providing pretty much exactly what I had imagined/hoped

The couple Nic and Henriette have created a wonderful space among olive trees, having renovated an old monastry that serves as the hub of the estate. I had been on the look out for a different holiday offering serenity yoga and family time and at El Convento these wishes were

Hiring El Convento 2017 Hello Marta Good day to you. Thank you for your interest in El Convento. At present the dates still available for hire in October 2017 are 14th October - 21st October..................Free. We can send an attachment ‘Hiring El Convento 2017 Includes Food’ which gives price details. Just contact me directly at spainyogaretreats, com . The price includes all food and accommodation, and access to all facilities. Transfer to and from El Burgo to coincide with the arrival and departure time of the coach to and from Malaga costs €20 per person. The coach costs approx 7 Euros and takes 1 hour 40 minutes. From experience a maximum group size up to 15 students is ideal. We do have accommodation for more than 15, please discuss with me if this is needed. Accommodation We advise charging a higher rate for casita accommodation and suggest 2 people in each casita. Bell Tent accommodation is more basic and hence a lower price is appropriate. The advantage is single occupancy is an option. Whether single or sharing the cost is the same per person. Casitas. Total number FIVE, hence sleep up to 10 persons. All casitas (huts) have solar electricity for lighting and are equipped with 2 single beds that can of course be made into double beds. They come with mattresses, pillows, duvets and sheets. Bell Tents. Total number SIX. We have two sizes, 5 and 4 meter diameter. Both are large enough to sleep 1 or 2 people. All beds are single so can be positioned to create double beds if needed. All bell tents come with flooring, bed bases, mattresses, pillows, duvets and sheets. Facilities We have a 100 meter squared outdoor roof terrace, with sun shade and an indoor meditation/yoga shala of approx 50 meter squared in the old monastery. Besides a conventional bathroom with hot and cold water we have 2 outdoor showers in stunning private locations and 2 compost toilets. The main communal terrace is linked to the converted hermitage kitchen/ sitting room and provides over 100 meter squared of dining and chill out space. Booking and reservation is only upon receipt of the deposit. Please contact me directly with any questions or requests you may have. All the best. Nic Freeman

"If you stay in the height of summer then a cabin would be slightly cooler than a Teepee... however kids usually love sleeping in a Teepee:)"
"Bring a mosquito net"
"The adobe hut had a spectacular view, and was a little way away so nice if you want to be a bit secluded, but very hot at midday."
"If I tipi - check how much shade it's likely to get!"
"Choose a teepee"
