Set in a beautiful garden bordering an apple orchard, a 10 minute walk to Peregrine Farm stall and a short cycle to Oak Valley. Pat, the manageress is extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms are immaculate. There is a mini bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, air-conditioning and the linen and bedding is perfect. The absolute best Covid-19 procedures are followed. We received a tray with sanitizer, masks, gloves, the remotes in a plastic bag, zip lock bag etc.
We enjoyed greatly our weekend stay at Elgin Country Lodge during the Elgin Open Garden event. The rooms and lounge of the Lodge are impeccable and Pat is going out of her way to make everybody feel at home. The view from the verandas is picture perfect and we had great evenings at the fireplace chatting to other guests and having a glass of wine on the house. The rate is quite reasonable for the standard of comfort you get.
True comfort and relaxation for the whole family. The underfloor heating was just divine in the middle of the Cape winter. Woke up both mornings to mist over the water, and listened to the frogs and ducks in the evening, play cards and braai on the deck. Visited the Market, just go, breath the fresh air, you can't regret it
Booked in for three nights while attending a family wedding. Wonderful friendly reception. Feeling of peace, safety and silence (except in the lounge which was always music filled - though not too loud). Room was excellent - ours was upstairs, be warned the staircase is rather steep with an awkward corner if you are carrying heavy luggage. Continental breakfast was stunning - who needs a cooked breakfast when faced with such an array of breads, fruit, yogurt and cereal? If getting to the B&B from the George end, turning right off the N2 can be a bit daunting so we found it best to go past, turn left into the Peregrine carpark and out again to cross the N2 and back towards George, so you turn in to the B&B with a left turn.
We were fortunate enough to stay at the Elgin Country Lodge at the end of February this year. What a lovely time we had ! The welcome we received from Pat & Tye was professional and friendly. Our room was spotlessly clean with beautiful , fresh linen. It was spacious and had lovely views of the mountains and the apple orchards. We enjoyed the generous spread of the fresh Continental Breakfast. - it is well worth a visit. One of the best lodges we have ever stayed at - it comes highly recommended.
