Just returned home from a wonderful holiday at Moulin de Chazotte. Laura and Rowan made us very welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Remy the black lab is playful, he kept us entertained playing ball. Le Hibou (Owl) gite was very comfortable, everything you could need in the kitchen, toilets on both floors and 2 showers perfect for a... More

Our second holiday at Moulin de Chazotte, our first with Laura and Rowan was even better than our first year....Our girls (11,9 and 9) always spend hours in the pool, and this year they especially loved paddling in the stream of the mill and "helping" Rowan and Laura remove the weeds and searching for fossils and treasures (we are even... Laura and Rowan became the new owners of Le Moulin de Chazotte in April this year (2016) and we were delighted to be amongst their first guests. They have done an amazing job in creating a really welcoming and relaxing environment and are excellent hosts. We stayed in the gite 'Le Chai' which provided a great base for us and... More

We have just returned from a week in Le Moulin de Chazotte we stayed in the smallest of the gites "Le Chai". The gite was very well equipped and had everything we needed it was clean and tidy despite on arrival having no power due to a huge storm! Bob and Jane are amazing hosts and made our stay very... Restored water mill with outbuildings converted to accomodation in varying sizes & styles. River runs through the property which is surrounded by sunflower fields & vineyards, it provided a great base for a driving tour of the region or as some families were doing... relaxing by the pool playing ping pong, canoeing or cycling. Most of our week (August) the... More

We stayed for a week last July with our daughter. It truly is a beautiful spot - very calm and restful with beautiful views over the vinyards and fields of sunflowers. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful - especially when my daughter fell and broke her wrist the first day and we had an emergency trip to Cognac A&E.... More

We stayed one night in this old converted mill, and loved it. It was situated in a superb location with breathtaking views for miles. It is in a calm and peaceful spot, with an atmosphere that is tranquil and restful. The old mill was fascinating, and the friendly and welcoming hosts were keen to chat to us about the process... We stopped for just one night B&B at Le Moulin, and wished we could stay more! This beautifully restored old mill house has several self contained units that you can rent for a week (called gites) or B&B for a night or more. Bob and Jane made us totally welcome, provided a wondeful dinner over which they shared their experiences... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Translated as the Mill of Chazotte (the river on which we are based), we are a 16th century French watermill offering beautiful, family friendly self catering holiday accommodation. Our four exclusive gites are brimming with charm and character whilst offering all the modern comforts and facilities to ensure you have a relaxing and rewarding holiday. The gites vary in size, from La Principale (the main house) which sleeps up to 7 people - perfect for families. Or for a couple looking for a more romantic, private stay, Le Chai, which is a cosy one bedroom hideaway. All gites have their own private terrace but also offer access to 12 acres of grounds and facilities, including the large heated swimming pool (12m x 6m) and a variety of outdoor activities and games. Located in blissful rural tranquility within the Poitou-Charente region on the French Atlantic coast, only 10 minutes away from historic Cognac and a short drive to the nearest village with that all important local boulangerie. This picturesque region is steeped in Roman and Medieval history and is known for its sleepy villages, Romanesque churches, heritage towns, as well as for the famous and delicious Cognac drink of course. ... more   less
