This is wine and forest country - Steigerwald ('-forest'), Franconia, Bavaria. Unobtrusive from outside, but a pretty place inside, and as regards the courtyard. A glass of wine while checking-in, earplugs by the bed, large mirror inside the wardrobe ... as has been mentioned in other reviews: Good attention to detail. Downsides: No grounds (except the courtyard), and if you... More

Large spacious room. Very clean, well maintained. Great attention to detail. Comfortable bed. Bathroom is spacious. Even had ear plugs by the bed if you think you will be disturbed by the traffic noise (1 car per hour maybe?) outside. Loved the Teddy Bear on my bed. Best part of it was the price. Very reasonable. Will certainly return when... More

We went out the highway looking for something nice and nearby where to sleep and to eat. We found Schwarzer Adler. A beautiful old big building, inside is everything perfect. They have a very good restaurant. The food is excellent and not expensive. Good wine. The owner is also there. Our room was beautiful with a balcony, a teddy bear... More

Driving down from Sweden to the Dolomites we were given the advice to try and stick it out for a couple of hours more, so as to avoid stopping around Kassel. Certainly the area around Kassel didn’t look great, I’ve never seen so many heavy trucks, on the other hand we were pretty whacked after driving the autobahn all day... More

Located close to the A3 and easy to find. Reception was busy but friendly (and the glass of wine while waiting was appreciated). Our room was clean, bright and comfortable. The restaurant was busy (lots of locals) and the food showed why they were there. The local beer and wine is also very good. Breakfast was substantial with an excellent... More

On our way from Vienna to the North Sea we stopped at this place recommended by acquaintances. We could not have done better. The Schwarzer Adler is only a few miles away from the Autobahn and so much nicer ( and cheaper) than the motels on the highway. We stretched our legs by walking our dog ( yes pets are... More

I staid there for one night and was completely satisfied. It is a family run hotel and you feel it there are a lot of personal touches in the hotel (i.e. you get a teddy bear in your bed so you do not feel lonely at night) the rooms are clean, all amenities are in place. The TV is on... More
