Our lunch was simply wonderful. You can opt for the chef to create a surprise menu from the list of ingredients on the main menu, just mention anything you don't like or allergic to. We took the "creative" option which was the cheapest. There were two more menu suggestions, at a higher cost, but I'm not sure I could have... More

The room was fine and fortunately had air-conditioning. The dinner was way above our usual style, but lovely. So popular locally that we couldn't get a table one night. The village was intriguing, being the one Gabriel Chevallier wrote about in 'Clochemerle'. Good base to explore the Beaujolais vineyards. However, the weekend we were there something was on in the... Amazing menu in a very nice setting. We had diner on the terrace, the service was lovely and a good wine list. The rooms are a bit on the old side but very clean. Worth to quit the route du soleil for this auberge!!!!!!

We enjoyed our stay tremendously, mostly the EXCELLENT leisurely dinner we had at the Auberge. The delicately prepared and artfully presented dishes were beyond our expectation. The Chef married ingredients like Mozart his notes to our delight and the wine pairing was "right on" and generous. A memorable experience I recommend to anyone who is interested in culinary experience and... More

This nice restaurant (Michelin star rated) and hotel is situated in a tiny village with nice views (from some rooms and the breakfast room) to the surrounding wine growing area. Service is friendly; they do speak English as well. The food is inventive – a surprise menu only – and they pay extra attention to the wine matches. Definitely worth... More

Bring a few stars for M Barthe please. A magnificent "Menu" and accompanying wines. Having dined at Paul Bocuse days earlier, M Barthe's cuisine was every bit the equal, just minus the surrounding grandeur and number of staff. Make the trip for the food alone! The hotel is well presented and comfortable and a very pleasant drive through the Beaujolais... More

A clean and tidy room with a very comfortable and decent sized bed. Perfect for staying in if you're eating in the Michelin star restaurant - see my separate review. Breakfast is the best we've experienced in France.

This Auberge calls itself a 'restaurant with rooms' but we would suggest it's much more than that, the rooms are as good or better than most 3* hotels we've stayed at in France! It's in a lovely location close to the famous 'Clochmerle' square in Vaux-en- Beaujolais, where they have a 'free' little Baujolais museum next to the famous 'painted... More

A wonderful stop on your way to Southern France. Close to Lyon, in a picturesque village nestled into the hills of Beaujolais, the Auberge offers nice and comfortable rooms with excellent service and wonderful cuisine by a young one star Michelin chef. And at reasonable prices
