We were leaving the Normandy beaches in France, headed to Belgium, and decided to stay the night near Rouen. We were looking for something special, and something that had parking. What do we discover other than the small village of Forges-les-Eaux, about 20 miles north of Rouen. Set in a park, with a long and beautiful circular drive that leads to the exquisite La Folie Du Bois Des Fontaines, we realized we had indeed found our perfect patch of paradise. THis elegant home has been turned into a 10 room hotel, and each and every room is lush, comfortable, and features all modern baths. The parlor, now a lounge and bar, was closed during our stay, but the elegant little dining room is open for breakfast only, We had driven around the town a bit before discovering the hotel, and noticed that there were very few restaurants in town, On the advice of our hostess, we made our way to the sister hotel...Forges Hotel, where drinks and dinner proved to be quite wonderful. In the am, we had breakfast at our hotel before heading off to Belgium. The rooms are simple elegant, There is no other way to describe them. You have use of all the facilities at Forges Hotel, including the swimming pool, tennis courts, golf, miles of beautiful walks, the lake, and so on. The area is very upscale, albiet it bucolic. Free wi-fi, and parking is a plus.…
