Arrived around 17:30 but hotel locked. Friend went round back and found door in to rear unlocked. We all entered and I phoned a French mobile. Shortly afterwards a man appeared and registered us. Hotel was very untidy with various items strewn all around, including cases of wine. Our room was noisy with traffic all through night. Our friends room...

We had a lovely welcome from the proprietors of this small hotel, situated on the corner of what might be the main street of this sleepy village. Weather was very hot as we arrived, so a couple of beers in the rather pleasant garden were much appreciated. The garden hammock looked inviting, but we opted for chairs! Our room was...

I stayed here whilst walking along the GR36. The room I was offered was listed in the room as €75 (double room) but when I asked, it was provided for €55 with the option for demi-pension at €68 which I took. It was Saturday, August 1st. Amazingly I was again the only person staying in the hotel - although there...

We stopped at Écouché entirely on a whim, looking for lunch en route between Loches and Cherbourg. Le Lion d'Or is a quiet, unassuming little hotel in a quiet, unassuming little town (which had its share of unwelcome history in the Second World War, in spite of its current sleepy appearance). Nevertheless, we were presented with a tasty, well priced...

Ecouché, is a quiet, very quiet little town. Perhaps an ideal first or last stop for people using the Normandy ferry ports. Ludovic, the new owner, was very friendly. Our room (5) was a moderately sized twin with a large bathroom and good shower. There is enclosed parking and a beautiful garden. Yes, there is a nearby railway but we...

M 66 & J 68 stayed 1 night for the 2nd time 11 Nov 2013. The twin room was again very well presented and spotlessly clean. The inclusion of soaps and toiletries is always appreciated and not available at all establishments. Breakfast consists of your own bread basket at your table with either tea, coffee or chocolate served to you....

We had an overnight stay here on our way to Le Havre. Ecouche was badly bombed in WWII and unattractively rebuilt. A 2-star (not more) hotel on a street corner. Unpleasant room although bathroom was OK. There was a decent garden but the railway ran alongside it. the redeeming feature was the evening meal surprisingly tasty.

We thought it was a very quiet nice little hotel. If you want to shop around this is not the place to stay better off in Argentan. The breakfast was very basic and we had to share a croissant between the two of us for 3 mornings during our stay and the biggest disappointment was the evening meal. for 21...

Our ferry arrived into Cherbourg two hours late due to bad weather conditions. We quickly realised we would not arrive at the hotel until 9.30 so telephoned the hotel only to be told the restaurant closes at 8.30 but she agreed to prepare us a light supper to be eaten in the room. So unfortunately because of this, we cannot...
