First timer at Tunkwa Lake, second time ever ice fishing, and I am already dying to go back! Could not have been more spoiled fishing on an breathtaking property, but we were... The resort's owner, Al, came out each day to fish with us and was more than happy sharing tips on ice fishing. He was very accommodating, ensuring that our stay would be the best, which it was. After our four days at Tunkwa we left relaxed, with fish and lots of great fishing memories.

During check in we were given a full detailed fishing report which set my mind at ease. I forgot how nice the little cabins were. We needed not bring a cooler as there was a fridge in the room. There was a gas stove as well. the washrooms were spotless and cleaned every morning. The fishing was excellent, and they have quiet time after 10 pm. There is a playground for kids. Will go back for sure every summer.

Once again a great get away. I have been coming back to Tunkwa Lake Resort on and off for the last 15 years. Always an awesome & challenging lake to fish on. Since new owners Allan & Co. took over the changes to the resort have all been very positive. Deckhand Jody is hardworking as ever to keep guess' as comfortable as possible. Richard's fishing advice and tips are golden. Having been a fly fisherman for almost 20 years I thought I knew it all but Richard taught me two more secrets about fly fishing which got me into bigger fish this time around. Thanks to Richard and all the staff at Tunkwa for another great experience.

Tunkwa Lake Resort was a destination for me 40 years ago when it was what we euphemistically called a rustic destination meaning outhouses and ancient cabins. What a wonderful surprise upon returning in October to find the cabins have all been upgraded, the beds were comfortable and we had a full size refrigerator and four burner gas stove. There's a heated bathouse with flush toilets and showers, and a very good dishwashing room with hot water, double sinks and complimentary dish soap. And that's just a start. The rental boats have been upgraded at a high level with 16' Lowes Jon Boats and brand new Yamaha 9.9 outboards (the lake is restricted to 10 HP or less). Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the fishing and our party managed to catch a number of beautiful Kamloops Rainbow Trout with which the lake has been stocked. The largest reported rainbow this year was 8 lbs. to date and the largest for our party was 2 lbs., an excellent fish and tough to land. I personally lost quite a large trout when it snapped my 6 lb. leader and I'd recommend fishing with heavier leaders so you don't lose the big one. The resort is approximately one hour from the city of Kamloops and their airport, perhaps four hours from Vancouver. Book ahead, it's a popular place and Google Tunkwa Lake Resort for additional information. I'll certainly be going again next year.

Visited here in early August for 4 nights with family. First time for me, my in-laws have been going for year and years. I wasn't sure what to expect as they feel very sentimental about the place. I was instantly impressed! Cabin #16 is adorable. It's exactly what you want in a rustic, no frills place. Brand new (sleep country) queen mattresses in each of the bedrooms along with a single bunk in each room. (The organization of this place is great too, cabins spaced far enough that you have privacy). Full size fridge with freezer, wonderul large table positioned to look over the lake front, adequate counter space, gas range, wood burning stove, pots and pans, dishes, etc. You don't really need to bring much from home. Loved it. Fishing...we're learning.

You do not have to be a fisherman -- although there are many here -- to appreciate the pristine natural beauty of this area and resort. We found the cabins to contain the necessary amenities and when I shared with friends they joked that staying here is actually "Glamping" (e.g. Glamourous Camping) than regular camping! We noticed that the workers are quite busy making upgrades to the cabins so they will be even better the next time we visit.

Stayed for 4 nights in cabin #5 which was two bedroom with a kitchen and living area. The cabin was across from the lake and included all the necessary untensils and a bbq. The cabin was clean and comfortable but they are "rustic". An outhouse is assigned to each cabin as well as a large cedar picnic table, the shower and bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained. I do suggest to bring your own water jugs as there is no running water in the rustic cabins. The staff were very friendly and the grounds were well maintained. We rented a fishing boat which included a gas, safety kit and lie jackets. The fishing was slow during our visit, but I gather it is a symptom of the current weather. Our stay was relaxing, the water views are amazing and we will be back next year to hopefully catch some fish. I would recommend this property to others who want to "unplug" and enjoy the natural surroundings.

What a fantastic wee gem, super quiet, clean and friendly staff. Stayed for 4 nights, great advise on fishing daily and the facilities are clean and roomy. The dog area is great too, plenty of space to let them run. The only draw back is the fox weed is everywhere. The resort of course has nothing to do with that and I only will mention it as we did not know anything about it. But we learned that it is very hazardous and can be deadly to dogs. Our 3 month old pup chocked on some, another person warned us about it and said a trip to the vet was $150. We learned that the vet is not easily available as well. The hosts were great at lending us a rack to rake our area, but it still kept popping up and she had to live on a ground cover. She did great regardless. Other that that all the staff was fantastic, the grounds immaculate and a great time was had by all.

Attended Tunkwa for the first time over the Aug long weekend with 3 other friends and took up 5 horses to camp with. The morning after we rolled in, the camp host Doug arrived and had a large container of water dropped off for our livestock. Rode for the weekend and enjoyed the horse camping to ourselves and the trail system was fantastic! The campsites were spread apart and nobody was disrespectful on-site. Looking forward to attending again and continuing with our riding!

Rented cabin 16 for 5 guys. It has 2 bedrooms with queen bunks and futon in the living room. The cabin just had some recent improvements and new stove and fridge. It was lots more than expected for a rustic cabin. The host was very informative on where to hunt and nearest ammenities. There is a meat hanging shed for hunters to use. The only complaint is the road in the resort was nothing but deep pot holes. First and last thing i remember.
