Ras Michamvi is not a glitzy five star resort but it has a quiet, natural charm. The resort is reasonably isolated, about 1 1/2 hours from Stone Town; reached by a dirt track it is surrounded by native forest, inhabited by cute monkeys and magnificent butterflies. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable, but there is no provision for...

Excellent location if you like things to be quite as we do. Sea view room perfect, clean large bed with large mosquito net, towels (a tad old but clean) and dressing area, fridge, air con and fan. Perfect. 2 pools for when the sea is out, perfect views. The staff are amazing, especially Alisha who should be a manager, he...

Our stay at Ras Michamvi was an unforgettable experience in an idyllic location, surrounded by the most hospitable staff and management who took care of our every need and considered us their 'Zanzibar family!' The view and surrounds are literally breathtaking on first sight: the azure ocean and crystal white beaches...

This is the archetypical beach experience with something special. The location of the hotel and therefore the views are exceptional. Relatively isolated, the tranquility is guaranteed. Walking or running on the beaches is quite extraordinary. For the rest, just check the pictures and enjoy.

This place was impossible to find at night due to poor signage, but most people don't drive themselves so it won't matter. But you will need to bring your own shampoo as toiletries beyond soap are not included nor is the complimentary potable water you typically receive in African countries. It is a beautiful location, removed from the large resorts...

It was a long flight but well worth it. You felt as if you were totally isolated but a walk along the beach and you were in the next village. The staff were amazing. The location fantastic. Just the place to recharge your batteries.

It was a pleasure to be at the "Ras". Only 4-5 other rooms were occupied when we stayed there. The rooms are really large and the property is very extensive. It isn't a 5* hotel but for us it was just great. The two pools are very nice, you have direct access to the beach but the most imoressive part...

Very clean and nice hotel in the middle of nowhere. Fantastic beach where you may be able to walk for hours without finding any human being! This is a perfect spot to escape for a couple of days and get disconnected of the world. The rooms where very nice without television. The WiFi was only avaliable in the only dinning...

Overall we enjoyed our 6 nights in Ras Michamvi a lot. The location is amazing, the staff made you feel welcome and was friendly and helpful to a degree you would not come to expect for this price range. The 2 beaches are amazing, but footwear is a must because of all the sea urchins. Unfortunately, there is also about...

I spent two wonderful days at Ras Michamvi with my husband and two children. The scenery is beautiful and quiet. The kids loved the pool area with is set against the backdrop of the Indian ocean. There are 2 beaches to choose from if you prefer the ocean. Food was delicious and the staff are very warm and welcoming and...

Welcome to Ras Michamvi with his new Austrian Management!!!our beach hotel on Zanzibar's beautiful east coast, is a little paradise harmoniously set in a large natural area with access to powder-white tropical beaches, gardens, forests and a stunning ocean-front swimming pool.We do Quality, instead of Quantity. And you can feel it... Our aim is to cater to the modern traveler, from Kite surfer to food critic to businessman in need of a free broadband connection and everyone else who simply enjoys quality. 8 rooms with sea view and 7 are with Garden view. Relax at this quiet location, feel the tropical sun and the gentle ocean breeze on your skin, look for shooting stars amongst the thousands of sparkling dots in the sky at night, enjoy the freshest fish and seafood served at our open restaurant under a large Makutti roof, explore the stunning natural wonders of the nearby Jozani Forest-Chwaka Bay Conservation Area - in short: come to Ras Michamvi and discover the magic of Zanzibar! All of our 8 rooms have sea view and 7 rooms have garden view. They are located in 4 bungalows on a coral rock elevation overlooking the beach and the ocean. Our new and modern bungalows are built of stone and have wooden terraces, makuti-style thatched roofs, air conditioning, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, mini-fridges, en-suite bathrooms with shower, bathtub, cold and hot water. The rooms are very spacious and tastefully furnished in local style. Three bungalows have 4 rooms and one bungalow has 3 rooms only. Our restaurant is located on top of the same coral rock elevation as the bungalows - hence you can overlook the beach and sea from the round panoramic open building under a big makuti thatched roof. It is the place where you will start the day with a tropical breakfast including fresh fruits and juice, eggs and different kinds of bread. For lunch and dinner our restaurant offers local and continental dishes. There is also a selection of vegetarian dishes. You can have a romantic candle-light dinner at night and feel the true magic of this place when the moonlight reflects on the gentle waves of the Indian Ocean.
