Closed when I arrived, clear notice on the door of the number to call. Called the number and was welcomed in within the minute.Lovely hostess could not have been more helpful even offering to microwave my soup as she showed me the coffee room and bathroom and then my room. Looks as though the ladies facilities have been recently updated,... More

We happened to be here the day the new owners took over, so can only go by our experience, and that we were well looked after. Owners were friendly and helpful, just a bit lost as we're finding there way. Friends ate here and said the meal was normal country pub standard.

The Bischoff Hotel is the only one in town and it is in fair order throughout. It displays a number of architecturally insensitive updates that have occurred since its construction at the turn of the century. We found our room to be small but quite clean as was the ensuite.I understand there is at least one room with a spa that... More

We arrived in the afternoon at 4pm. The hotel was locked and nobody around. We rang a mobile phone number which was mentioned on the door. We waited for another 10 min in the cold and rain. Finally the lady arrived and gave us the key to our room. The log fire was only lighted around 6pm, and only one... More

I have read through a few other reviews which all seem to have to same feel for the place that we had. We arrived, as a group of three couples, at approximately 5.00, to locked doors? The weather outside was freezing, which is exactly why we travel to Tasmania to feel the difference, but standing on front door for too... More

If you're up for an adventure this place might be your cup of tea. We arrived to a locked door so rang the number listed there. When I got through to the owner her response to our request for a room that night was "Oh GOD!" She explained that they were nearly full and very busy. So... do you have... More

I think some of the other reviews are a bit harsh. We stayed a night as a group in 3 rooms. The rooms and decor are old but are clean and comfortable which is what you'd expect as a traveler going through a small town such as Waratah. The beer is cold and the meals are hot. The publican (in... More

The Hotel is a wonderful heritage building. New owners have only been in charge for a couple of months and the lady had been hospitalised for some of the time so allowances do need to be made. We were booked in for Sunday and Monday nights -- with an En Suite. We arrived late in the afternoon and were immediately... More

Walked to the hotel on a freezing night from the caravan park, enjoyed a super hot meal. For those interested the meal sizes were huge (could not eat it all) but very enjoyable. Service was good. Atmosphere good. Thank you

Got there in afternoon to find hotel closed as owner had to go to hospital. Previous owner happened to be talking to another customer outside explaining situation and that barman would be in later to open up. He spoke like Nigel Thornberry off the cartoon show & told us about a local bushwalk at philosophers falls to pass time.Well worth... More
