We had a wonderful time at liostasi hotel! From start to finish the staff were excellent during our 5 day stay! We utilised all of the hotel amenities including a very relaxing massage at the spa, delicious a tasting menu at award winning “Grandmas” restaurant and a cooking lesson with Kuria Despina who taught us how to make traditional gemista and cheese pies! The rooms were a great size with incredible views of the sunset, we also loved breakfast which consisted of an a la carte menu and a home made buffet breakfast with green produce- so delicious! A special shout out to Mary and Nicholas at the front desk who gifted us a book about ios on our departure and went above and beyond to organise the next leg of our trip to Santorini! Efxaristoume poli!!

This hotel is located up on the hill over the bay and port and has an amazing view at sunset. The pool and bar area are beautiful, and as guests from outside the hotel come for drinks and dinner there is a nice buzz in the evening.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but there were a couple of things that we were disappointed/frustrated by:
1. The rooms are too expensive for the standard/quality. Don’t pay full price they are not worth it, shop around for a deal. The finish is poor and although the rooms are marketed as suites they are basically larger than average bedrooms with small double beds and average decor. Quite odd.
2. The hotel has two pools; one that is open for everyone and the second that is for guests in specific rooms (larger/even more expensive suites). Unfortunately the private pool for the larger suites is not next to the action and guests have to come up and down stairs to go to the bar etc and as a result tend to use the public pool. Therefore all the hotels guests are using one pool and there are not enough loungers for everyone. Guests were using sofas and chairs at the bar because there was no where to sit, whilst the private pool and all of its sun loungers sat untouched all day, every day. Had we stayed for longer this would have become very frustrating.
3. The lunch by the pool is poor. We were shocked by how poor the lunch was in complete contrast to the amazing evening restaurant, Grandmas. We had lunch their once and went out for the rest of our stay. Tuna melt consisted of two dry thin small pieces of bread and a tiny bit of tuna and garnish.

Something the hotel does have right is its staff, they are fantastic so friendly and helpful. Nicoletta in particular was extremely good.

In summary if there was an offer available we would consider staying again for the setting and view and brilliant evening restaurant but we’d value their sea view rooms at 200-250 a night not 300-350.

Dear Funtimegirl, First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Liostasi Hotel and we really hope you had a great time in Ios. We would appreciate you to allow us to address your remarks and place them in context for the sake of the impression you may convey to other guests. We would like to thank you for commending our devoted and highly efficient staff members who constantly strive to provide the highest quality and most personalized service. Moreover, we are glad that you enjoyed the sunset from the hotel’s unique location, the Pool Bar area as well as the awarded Grandma’s restaurant. With regards to the prices, Liostasi is the only 5-start hotel on the island, member of SLH and located in Ios, a Cycladic island with high demand. In addition, our devotion to always provide excellent service, our meticulous attention to every facility, the unique location as well as the multiple times awarded Grandma’s restaurant can justify the prices we offer which are aligned with those of other similar luxury establishments. Lastly, the rates offered this year include important discounts in the light of the current situation. Moreover, every part of the Hotel from each and every room type to all the public areas, are curated by an international designer, using the finest materials and finishes, furnished exclusively from a small selection of top Greek suppliers and a few of the country’s most well-known artists. As far as the pool area and its access are concerned, we would like to clarify that we have two swimming pools, the main one with access to all the guests staying at Liostasi Hotel and an additional one for exclusive use of the guests staying at specific room types. None of these two swimming pools is accessible to use from guests who are not staying at Liostasi Hotel. In addition, since the upper pool is not located right next to the Bar there is a phone (with a sign including all the necessary information) that is used by the guests for placing orders or any other request. Our lunch and dinner menu are indeed a little bit shorter this year due to the current unprecedented situation that majorly challenges the Hospitality Industry. However, every food item, from breakfast to lunch to dinner, is carefully prepared from the same culinary team that has been twice awarded for their great work the past two years. We are indeed very sorry that the Lunch Menu didn’t match your expectations. In closing, we would like to thank you once again for your feedback, as we value both your compliments and constructive criticism in order to continuously improve our services. We hope to welcome you again at Liostasi Hotel and surpass all your expectations. Kind Regards, The Liostasi Team

We stayed at the end of September and enjoyed every moment! Beautiful suite, amazing breakfast buffet each day and stunning sunset views every night with the most delicious cocktails. The hotel has a lovely laid back atmosphere and we enjoyed the location as we could easily walk into town to sample different bars and restaurants. We also enjoyed dinner a couple of evenings at the hotel and were not disappointed and we particularly enjoyed the tasting menu. We hope to return in late September this year.

I booked this hotel as it was advertised as a 5 star hotel and a Small Luxury Hotels of the world , as we have stayed in other SLH hotels and all had been outstanding I felt this would be the same . Unfortunately this was not the case on this occasion . We arrived before the check in time and had to wait for our room . I booked the entry level room that was advertised at 50% off but was still €140 night . The reception and pool areas where nice , the reception staff initially welcoming and friendly but that soon changed .When we saw the room we where basically shocked at the condition and more the size . This room was only a 2/3 star room at the most and if booking should cost no more than €50 night . We travel extensively around the world , we have backpacked and also stayed in Aman and Six Senses hotels so we are not the type of people who like to complain and we have experience at lots of levels but this room was totally unacceptable for a SLH hotel and the price we paid . We asked what our options where as I was not willing to stay in that room for what we paid , they gave us several options , none complimentary, all costing an extra €60 upwards to €150 a night extra which again we where not willing to pay so in the end they showed us an alternative same level room with a very large balcony as an alternative and we reluctantly accepted and had to move all our things to this room , by now it was 8pm and we had wasted a full first day on the Island . On our first night in the early hours of the morning we where woken buy the loudest noise , outside the rooms was not only the road but a massive generator . This was the final straw and we went back to reception to say we wanted to cancel the rest of the stay and move to an alternative hotel with a full refund . They came back to us later with a complimentary upgrade as they didn’t want us to cancel our stay . This was the next room category up but was on a completely different level , how two rooms could be so different was shocking . The rest of our stay was comfortable in the room but we felt there was a definite awkwardness towards us for not accepting the room given initially and for complaining on 2 occasions. So my issue is this hotel needs to not let these rooms be booked until they are fully refurbished or at a massively reduced cost, it needs to be made clear there is a massive generator behind these entry level rooms and if they are used this should not be advertised as a 5 star luxury option . The other issue was the breakfast , I know because of Covid there isn’t the option to have buffets but the options here if your there for more than one night are so limited . Again for a 5 star hotel there was only , orange juice offered , the same bread and dry cake everyday , no pastry options , no fruit offered or on the card, limited fixed 4 option menu . We stayed in 4 other hotels during this trip and every other hotel offered a much better option for breakfast , by morning 4 we couldn’t wait to move on . There are more issues that I could include but they are quite small in comparison so I won’t . The hotel we stayed at both before in Paros and after in Folegandros where just exceptional and one was only 4 star but the quality of service , rooms and food and comfort and warmth from the hotel staff there was just no comparison .

Dear julixWigan, We would like to thank you for your recent stay in Liostasi Hotel and for taking the time to share your valuable thoughts with the TripAdvisor online community. It is always our pleasure in receiving our guests’ feedback in order to improve our facilities and services to their fullest. Liostasi Hotel is indeed a proud member of the SLH community and currently the only one on Ios island. As such, we are committed in offering the highest level of services, for which we continuously work towards throughout every season. Please note that the pricing of our hotel is set on a par according to the facilities offered and is comparable with similarly distinctive 5-star hotels around the world. It was to our surprise that you were not satisfied with the attention of our professionally-trained staff, most of which are part of the Liostasi family for consecutive years. A fact that is indeed contradicted with numerous other reviews. We of course take into consideration your remarks and commit to further improve our high-quality customer service. With regards to the design and the size of our rooms, on our website, we clearly mention every detail of each room type. As a traveler and a guest of many hotels you may be aware about the rate difference between different room types. This is the reason we offer distinctive room type options combined with different rates to our guests. As far as the breakfast is concerned, we have indeed changed from a breakfast buffet to a la carte due to the current situation. We take great care to ensure that our menus include a range of hearty and healthy options as the majority of the products used are local and everything prepared is freshly homemade. We have made note of your recommendations and will be looking into ways to improve on your experience. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during the power cut which was an issue in many Cycladic islands at the same time and not just in Ios. We truly focus on providing the highest level of services even under these circumstances. That is why, we are one of the few properties in Ios that own a generator in order to have power when most of the other businesses do not. Finally, we are glad that you enjoyed the higher room type offered complimentary to you. We regret not having met with your expectations and we hope to the opportunity of welcoming you back in the future, providing you with our utmost care and attention. Kind Regards, The Liostasi Team

The hotel website's gallery and marketing on booking.com features a picture of a glass sided pool which is not actually available for general use since it is part of a private suite . Since the picture played a part in us choosing the hotel, I find that unacceptably misleading.

I would also not recommend this hotel for couples. It was full of families, the jacuzzi was full of plastic children’s toys. Consequently we didn’t even use the pool during our 3 night stay. Loud dance music could also be heard in the room until late.

The overall vibe is a little too resort-like and not really what the ‘Small Luxury Hotels of the World’ membership suggested to us.

The jacuzzi in the spa was half full and had plastic floating in it and by the loungers there we found some dead cockroaches. Room cleanliness was good, although the shower floods the bathroom every time you use it due to the design.

On the plus side, staff were kind and helpful with nice touches like providing a cooler box with ice when we rented a boat and front desk and arranging good seats at restaurants. Away from the front desk though, service lacked attention to detail.

Grandma’s restaurant was very good but expensive and we enjoyed the characterful and better value options in the town more, such as The Nest.

Cooked breakfast was poor. We had to return poached eggs for being really quite raw (not just runny) and were made to feel a bit like we were causing a fuss - no real apology was offered. I'm not sure the orange juice is fresh either.

This is a decent hotel but not a great one and unfortunately we found the marketing and the ‘small luxury hotels of the world’ membership weren’t borne out by the reality.

I don't like to leave such a negative review when some of the staff did try to give a five star service, but unfortunately the misleading marketing left a bad taste and so I've decided to tell it like it was.

Was a walking guest and beautifully treated at reception and by the guest relation lady was show few rooms available and choose a great one with a private pool
Great room design , good large bed, fine linen ,
Thé breakfast buffet was great with plenty local touch and flavour.
A gentil GM lady was present and attentive to details and all staff smiling & friendly
Complimentary ferry port pick up & drop off which is a nice gesture ..
One comment though No turn down service which is a real petty in a such nice 5 stars hotel , when I mentioned they said due to Covid they do only on request !!! Well if so.. suggest they should mentioned at check in and asked if turn down service is required !
But a great place, great city and sea view. Will be back for sûre.

We stayed in Liostasi in July and I have to say it's one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. From the minute we arrived at the Port we were looked after by the lovely hotel.

Elena the hotel manager was absolutely excellent. The welcome we had felt so personal, she showed us around the hotel and gave us a cold drink whilst we settled in before being taken to our lovely room. From then on, the amazing staff could not have been friendlier. It felt like any of them would go out of their way to do anything that you asked for in order to make your stay as special as possible. They also all knew our names so quickly, and it really made you feel special and welcomed. The reason I can name so many throughout my review is due to the fact that they were so welcoming and really part of our special stay.

The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and the staff were so happy to accommodate any changes to make sure your meal was exactly what you wanted. We also ate in Grandma's one evening which was incredibly special. The food was absolutely delicious but Marios who was our waiter made it extra special! His knowledge of the food and wine was exceptional and he really took the time to explain everything to us, particularly the wine and he allowed us to try some before we chose so that we were not disappointed. The only thing I would say, is that as it is such a special restaurant, you probably wouldn't eat there every night, however, there are loads of options in the port, town and down at the beach.

Panos - the barman was also exceptional! He was able to make any cocktail you asked for, and you could just say the flavours that you felt like and he would create something amazing! He even makes his own liquors to put into all of the cocktails, so they are all so fresh. As well as this, he was always so friendly and enthusiastic which was really special.

The hotel was also very peaceful, we could always get a sunbed and it was a really lovely place to relax by the pool in a quiet environment. Having heard the reputation of Ios being a party island, we were quite nervous about the island, but I have to say we were so pleasantly surprised. The island is really small and everyone seems to know everyone and it was a really special place to visit!

There is a bus stop outside the hotel, and the buses come every 15 minutes, and I would definitely recommend as a way to get around the island without having to get taxis. As well as this, we hired quad bikes from the company recommended from the hotel which was great.

I also really recommend going to Koubara Fish restaurant if you get the chance, it was our favourite place!

It brings immense joy to know that from the very moment you arrived, you felt the warmth and personalized attention that we pride ourselves on. My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel for 2 nights in Jul. From the moment we were picked up by private transfer from the port arranged by the hotel we knew immediately that we had made the right choice. We were greeted at the entrance of the hotel by a member of staff. It was early morning and breakfast we just starting she very kindly offered us breakfast whilst we waited for our room to be ready. We were shown around the hotel and was given all the information you need such as breakfast times, spa details, how to get to the town etc.
The room was amazing spotlessly clean with all the mod cons that you would expect coffe maker, iron/board, toiletries etc. we had a large terrace with a beautiful view of the sea and surrounding area. The views are amazing you can watch the sun set from your room. All of the staff were truly amazing they are professional and make you feel comfortable and looked after. Nothing is too much trouble. There is an excellent bar tender by the pool who knows how to make a cocktail and offers really good recommendations and is happy to have a chat and tell you about the area.
The food is above excellent. Breakfast is buffet and alacarte. The buffet is very extensive offering different fresh juices hot food yoghurts fresh fruit and more. Grandmas restaurant for the evening is an experience well worth doing. The food is excellent and so is the wine. The waiting staff are very attentive and polite and friendly there is always a manager around all day making sure that the hotel runs as it should.
The pool area is stunning with beautiful views, comfortable sun beds pool towels and excellent service you really do not need to lift a finger.
I would recommend this hotel as one of the best hotels I have stayed in, to anyone from couples to families even single travellers you will all be looked after. This hotel in my opinion does not disappoint.

My husband and I had an amazing stay at Liostasi and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Ios. The rooms are modern and spacious, the pool area is lovely with a great breeze and view of the port at sunset and the location is ideal for walking to the Chora as well as the port.

Food and drinks are pricy but very tasty - we had dinner at Grandmas expecting it to be a bit pretentious and overpriced but it was some of the best food we've ever had in Greece, having been many times. Well worth it for a treat!

All the staff were very friendly, especially Eleni who went to so much effort to make our stay memorable. She organised all our transfers and excursion including an unforgettable private boat trip and a lovely visit to the local cheesery. Nothing was too much effort for her, she's amazing!

We would love to come back in the future to this very special place.

Absolutely stunning hotel, from the moment you enquire into booking the hotel, the staff could not be friendlier, more helpful or welcoming if they tried. We booked direct and they collected us from the port, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. They take your bags from arrival, take you to the beautiful pool and bar area for a drink and explain everything about the island / any information you need.
The breakfast is stunning, eggs Benedict, so fresh, salmon, spinach. As well as breads, fruits, yoghurts, any coffee you can imagine.
The pool is pristine clean. A MUST DO, is to hire a quad or car (which the hotel sorted for us) and explore the beaches, some of the best in the world that we’ve seen, and so beautifully quiet at the moment. Special shout out to Mary on reception and the guy on the bar who always called us by name, even though we had never given him our name - absolute top service. We will be back.

If you travel with your kids then it is fine as the other 2 sofa beds are 90x200 cm each. However if you travel 4 adults I would recommend you to book 2 rooms. I am still at the hotel which I highly recommend it. You can get in touch with Evangelia at rsrv@liostasi.gr Enjoy it.
