Great place on the beach. Good restaurant and amazing staff. Really perfect, there were a lot of kids by the pool yet the beach more than made up for it. Rooms were a nice size with amazing views in to the ocean. The staff went out of their way on a number of occasions which was rare and is the reason I would be back there.
My husband and me spent lovely days with our 3 grown up sons at this great boutique hotel directly situated on the beach . we had two superior rooms with balconies overlooking the sea and the near surroundings, the rooms were spacious, very well designed and presented a perfect bathroom. from the welcome to the farewell a very warm and familiar atmosphere surrounded us- the staff so nice and friendly, trying to fulfill really all our wishes. the breakfast, this year, is served, you have a huge range of dishes, fresh food, eggs however you like them.. so absolutely perfect! At the dinner we always took the special of the days, you could feel that the cook likes what he does and only serves fresh things. when we left I realized in our Minibus ( well organised transport service to and from the airport) that I heve forgotten one of my bags- but already at this moment they called the driver from the reception to offer me sending it back to me to Vienna- they even don't like me to cover their costs! we will come back here, for sure, the coming year- as a family or even alone as a couple- as this beautyful small hotel meets all belongings for everybody. There is one thing left: everything in this hotel is so lovingly furnished, a mix of special designed items, the garden with all its plants, just a pleasure for the eyes, thank you all, Gitty and Christian…
There are no faults to this hotel. The rooms are gorgeous, the restaurant is great, the pool is perfect for families and the beach has loads of lovely beds. The design of the hotel and its decor are flawless and the staff - well, the staff are almost the best part - so kind, welcoming and attentive. We were sad to leave - and can’t wait to return with family. Thank you Nikos and the rest of the amazing team.
This is a review I’ve been putting off writing - Ammos is such a wonderful place that I didn’t want everybody else to find out about it (!) This hotel is always full just by word of mouth - its success is totally down to how brilliant it is and although it’s been featured among recommendations in the Sunday Times and other newspapers and magazines over the years, I don’t think Nikos (the owner) has sought the publicity… But 2020 is different, people feel nervous travelling and long-held reservations are being cancelled, so if you are thinking about booking I really want to encourage you to do so. We’ve just returned from Ammos for the 12th consecutive year and all the great things in these reviews are totally true. When we first found Ammos our children were young (3 and 5) and we wanted a small hotel that could accommodate our family comfortably, a safe sandy beach, a pool and a decent restaurant (not buffet). Ammos delivered on all of that, but what keeps us coming back is the customer-focussed approach. The level of service is exceptional, not in an overbearing obsequious way, but in a natural and friendly way that means that you totally relax as soon as you arrive at this place. Service at Ammos is very much a team effort - the same core team has been there for at least the last 12 years and they are all absolutely amazing (without realising how good they are!). The food is also exceptional. Last year we stopped in Athens for a few days en route home and it was only then that we fully appreciated the consistency and quality of the food at Ammos. This isn’t Michelin star cooking but it is decent honest Greek food, often with a modern twist – in addition to the standard menu, there are daily specials and all the dishes are thoughtfully put together and lovingly prepared, showcasing the best local produce. Nikos is a foodie (as are we) and he’s constantly tweaking and improving things all the time - new this year is a pastry chef making the most delicious breakfast pastries and yummy new desserts. For 2020 Ammos is Covid-safe, with social distancing between tables and loungers, all the staff in masks and an even more thorough cleaning regime. The hotel was full in August and yet it was easy to socially distance everywhere in the hotel and on the beach. Nearly everybody was a repeat visitor, which says so much about the confidence people have that they’d feel safe in the Ammos “bubble” at this unsettling time. We certainly did and we feel blessed to have had another wonderful and totally relaxing holiday at Ammos this year.…
Such a super place to stay...the hotel sits on a lovely sandy beach, with shallow waters perfect for swimming and views of the mountains. A fellow guest said it’s like staying at a friends ultimate villa, and that is true...everyone is so friendly and goes out of there way to make your stay special, from the service on the beach to the fab restaurant with great food. Locally in Chania there are some great healthy restaurants and so many lovely coffee stops and juice bars. Love it Nikos & Johnny .thank you.
