We stayed at this hotel from 1st to 15th Sept this year 2020, we had a lovely room overlooking the pool on the 1st floor. The Manager Christos was so helpful in every way from printing off documents for our return, to taking us to book the funtrain at the kiosk at the beach and providing information on the resort. Unfortunately he wasn't able to open the pool bar due to covid-19 restricts but he had every thing in place so you felt safe there, plus it had free Wi-Fi, everywhere was clean, there were plenty of sunbeds around the pool which got the sun all day We stayed B & B for 2 weeks but some had breakfast there which they were able to book from the menu he supplied. Thank you Christo for a very enjoyable stay room 34

This was up a little hill off the main road into Chania (about 5 km out of town). A good sized pool. Christos was happy to give advice. The local bus route into Chania was just at the bottom of the hill so easy (and cheap) to get into and out of Chania, which is a delight to visit for interest, charm, food, sea trips...The beach about ten minutes walk away is lovely, with gently shelving access to warm sea. There's plenty of mini markets and eating places close too. The appartment was spotless and serviced daily. So the best of both worlds, beach relaxation and town access. We'd go again.

Initially when being dropped off, the hotel is set on top of a steep hill and this wasn't explained when in the package detials. On arrival met by a lady who spoke poor English and thought we are looking to book a taxi. The lady didn't know we are checking in and didn't have any idea's on which hotel rooms are free. After getting over the translations barrier, we are allocated room 10 that was appaling and was way below what have booked at the travel agent. After making a complaint room 14 was allocated which was a better standard, we didn't know any details on where anything was in the hotel and the receptionist didn't check us in. Chritos helped to resolve the problem but had no idea of what time we are being picked up and there was no details of what time to check out, where to go etc. There was no farewell message by the hotel and they didn't ask during our stay if we are ok. Breakfast is standard but no toaster for bread in the pool bar, some items of food I wouldn't class as breakfast e.g. ham roll, pastries, feta cheese and milk was at times warm. Pool poor hygiene - birds have pooped in the pool and there is a fareell dog that licks the water, never used the pool for this reason. Crete is lovely and I would never go back to the hotel again. Trip into Chania highly recommend and to catch bus 21 at €2.40 return.

My husband and I stayed a week in Hotel Nireas at Kato Daratso. The studio flat has a balcony overlooking the swimming pool. I believe this flat was the cheapest, yet it had a large balcony to dine in. The flat was equipped well enough for light cooking. It had one saucepan and one frying pan and cutlery and plates enough for 3 people. There was a kettle and a sandwich maker and implements like knives, ladles, chopping board and so forth. The shower had good pressure and worked very well. The place was quiet and we never had any problems with sleep. Christos was at hand to recommend the better restaurants although it looks as though all the restaurants around were decent as there was so much competition. There are two supermarkets nearby. The buses take us to Chania town in 20 minutes. Tickets from the machine cost 1.20 € whilst cash payment on the bus is 2€ each. They are regular and work well into the evening. There is a Saturday morning vegetable and non-foods market in Town which shows what the Mediterranean Diet could be. We had everything - shops, Market, beaches, restaurants, a pine forest park with walking paths, mountains with villages for lunch. In Stylos, we saw water coming out of mountain springs where the water would be filtered and bottled. For those of you who believe in natural energy stored in the water molecules, you could drink it straight off the spring. The village restaurants serve the water in big glass jugs. I have always liked Greek food and the strength is in its simplicity. In various restaurants, wild mountain greens were offered. These greens are not of one species but change from season to season and from what that can be foraged. The flat was cleaned everyday and we arrived back to really fresh clean rooms. Cristos is not always at the hotel but everyone who works there is willing to help. Will I return to Nireas Hotel? Yes I would if Jet2 keeps the prices keen with big prints in their brochure of all the add-ons required on arrival to the hotel. Air-conditioning - 5€ per day. A Tourist Tax. 5€ per week to get Wi-fi for each kind of device in the room with communal wi-fi free downstairs. It would also help if there is a menu card with prices for breakfast or coffee and drinks by the pool. Outside a cappuccino was 2.20-2.30€ in the cafes. There was a bakery quite near the hotel where we bought spinach pies for breakfast. It was a fabulous holiday and thank you to Hotel Nireas.

Very nice, clean room. LInen changed daily and towels very regularly. Super bathroom and good standard kitchenette with adequate utensils, coffee pot etc. Only downside was the short steep hill which is not ideal for those with mobility issues.
