An autenthic Norwegian experience! Byrkjedalstunet, located at an intersection of roads 45 and 503, is a unique and lovely place to enjoy Norwegian traditions at their best. If you are dreaming of waking up to the sound of our playful goats on the grassy hillside, birds tweeting and a stream flowing, please treat yourself to an overnight stay at our charming hotel. Free parking. Our restaurant was once a local diary. The food is made in our kitchen preferably using ourn own crop. We know all the details about each Hereford beef as the cattle has been born and raised at our own farm. Our candle factory transports you into Peer Gynt's world, and has a 1100m2 sized outlet with handmade candles, elecant decorations, handcrafts, delicacies from small-scale producers and so much more. Our Christmas Attic is open all year. We are a natural starting point for the main tourist attractions in the region: The Pulpit Rock, Kjaerag, Lysefjorden, Månafossen waterfall, Gloppedalsura etc. Welcome!

We come here vey often. I have never been disappointed, and I can't seem to get enough of this place. The food is excellent, the scenery is magical and the service is great. There's always something new to see in the shop, and improvements are being made all the time. We also like to take our guests from abroad here, because we think this place is worth showing to people. Let's not forget the rustic rooms and comfortable beds, which will have you sleeping like on cloud 9!

Me and my boyfriend of 2 years went to Byrkjedalstunet to stay one night as a celebration of our anniversary. Before arriving I communicated with the hotel about receiving some champagne/fruit at the room as a romantic gesture. We arrived at the hotel and received two small bottles of Prosecco and a big platter of fruit. From start to finish, the service was amazing. We were welcomed with smiles and “hellos” from the staff. The room was old fashioned Norwegian style, with a hint of modernisation. Bed was super comfy, with a good choice of channels on the Tv. Directly outside our window, we were welcomed by two mountain goats who were frolicking around their area. At dinner, my boyfriend had a juicy burger and I had the traditional meatcakes, which were amazing! We received a taste of their own brand of “flatbrød» which also was amazing. We slept very well throughout the night, with complete silence outside. In the morning we had a nice hotel breakfast with lovely sourdough bread and an assortment of spread to put on. I highly recommend this place for both local and foreign tourists as this is the perfect getaway for couples or just to relax. We will make this a tradition every November to come here. 10 out of 5 stars!

We stayed in this facility on our way to Tau from Oslo. Buildings are unique. Staff were very friendly. Food was decent. Room was big enough. Bathroom would need a bit upgrade. The lower level bed is small for two people. Other than shower gel, bring all your toiletries. No English signs. We had to ask to find the reception desk, which was a very small counter in the front building.

Despite booking in good advance we got a room in an uncharming separate guest house located on a parking place. The room windows are all facing the parking place with no privacy and extremely poorly furnished - the price is very high - never again...

Thank you very much for your feedback. Sad to hear you think it's too expensive. We are actually cheaper than more hotels in the region. We have many great feedbacks. But we'll take your feedback further. Thanks.
