We had a truly great experience at Hotel Capitano, starting from the very first booking communication with them until the last moment of check out!

This is a family run boutique hotel and you can feel that cozy home-away-from-home feel in a lovely town just 20 mins from Hercegovina Novi and less than 10 from Perast. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly nice and helpful at all times. We were there with our small baby and they had everything we needed to make sure she was comfortable also! We used the pool a few times while waiting for summer rain episodes to pass and it was always clean and perfectly temperature controlled.

Breakfast was always fabulous and a combination of both a buffet and a la carte. Still thinking of the coconut pancakes!

just bear in mind that there is noise from the ferry coming in and out of the docks. But the hotel has really good insulation on the windows and blackout blinds.

We have nothing but the best to say for this hotel. Location is amazing, especially if you came for a memorable tour of the Kotor Bay. With the ferry, you are in Tivat for 10 minutes, in Herceg Novi just 20, and Kotor is very close too! They do airport shuttles upon request, which makes travelling here very easy, from Tivat, Dubrovnik, Podgorica... Room is very stylish and well designed, giving you a true feel of the Mediterranean. Also, very qood quality bedding, rituals cosmetics and furniture got me amazed, I must say. The staff goes above and beyond to make every wish of yours come true, which made me feel at home, while at the same time they show a great amount of respect for the guest as well as professionalism. And the breakfast, I miss it alot. On the buffet there is nothing more you could ask for, really. Also, there is A la carte menu included in the price, so you can order pancakes, many different vsrients with eggs, vegeterian and vegan dishes, all freshy prepared, and served hot, just cooked for you by an amazing Chef! If you are looking for a perfect vacation, alone,as a couple, or a family, they have many room options, for everyone and I guarantee every age group will enjoy their time here. I will definitely come back to this place, and promise that you won't find a better place for yor unforgettable holliday!

First of all Hotel Capitano was an amazing hotel, we had room number 7 and it was large, comfortable with a fantastic private outdoor area. The shower has to be one of the best shower's I have ever experienced, the room was cleaned every day to the highest degree, I have no complaints about the hotel at all I just want to stress that it was the area that was the problem. It was opposite the ferry which operated 24 hours a day and was noisy, there is no getting away from the fact that you hear it all the time, I wasn't too bad but my husband didn't sleep for 7 nights. Secondly you take your life into your hands every time you step onto the road outside the hotel, it is extremely busy with the never ending cars coming off and on the ferry, it never stops , it is dangerous, the hotel is on a bend and buses and large lorries come around the corner fast and onto what tiny walkway there is, there is no actual pavement at all outside the hotel. Thirdly and most importantly there is hardly anywhere to get a drink in the evening, it is far too dangerous to walk very far, on the second night we were there we walked a mile to Verige 65 , a fantastic restaurant but the walk to it was awful, there is no pavement and you take your life into your own hands, we had to get a taxi back as walking in the dark would have been suicide. The beach bar at the Adriatic is great but closes at 6pm, there are 2-3 restaurants about 0.5k away but once you've had your meal that's it, there is nowhere to go, we don't eat late, so by 8.30 we had finished our meal and had no choice but to go back to the hotel, it's not really what you want when you are on holiday, back in your room before 9pm! We really couldn't understand why there were no bars in the area (you can't really count the ferry bar). We did hire a moped but again it was dangerous in the dark and it means the driver can't have a drink, again not something you want on your holiday. You defintely need some sort of transport if you stay at the Capitano as there is nothing to do in the area apart from sunbathe, we wish we had stayed on the other side more towards Kotor, it was still quiet but plenty of bars and restaurants and safer to walk. If you are not bothered about staying out late and not having anywhere to have an evening drink then the Hotel Capitano would be perfect and if it was in a different area I would go back time and time again.

Response from Hotel Capitano, General Manager at Hotel Capitano
Responded Sep 24, 2023
Dear guests, Thank you for taking time to leave a review & share your experience with other travelers. As our guest's satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, I may promise with certainty that we will take your suggestions and feedback into account. While in the historical core of small coastal town of Kamenari, in the center of the UNESCO protected Kotor Bay, the hotel is, indeed, located close to the ferry terminal, which apart from making it way easier for people to get around the bay fast, may be a little tricker to handle for the non-locals, especially in the peek of the season with the traffic. The road passing throughout the entire bay is built in the 50s and follows the coastline, leaving little to no space for sidewalk or promenades. Those are located in Herceg Novi, Tivat, Kotor, and the nearest one is in Bijela, only a few miles away from our hotel. Even though we have submitted a request for a sidewalk to be built, which was recently approved (construction should be completed by summer 2024), we always recommend to hire a car, as it really does help when it comes to exploring, going to various vanues and events in the vicinity. Truly there is a lot to see, and some of the nicest beaches and restaurants are close to our hotel, yet having a car with you is the best option, surely. That way, you will be able to take the advantage of the ferry and our location in the center of the bay, and enjoy your holliday to the fullest, brining many memories back home. In the end, we hope the positive aspects of our hotel were dominant in your experience as a whole, and that you had a pleasant stay. It was our pleasure being your hosts, as we truly enjoyed your company, and we hope you feel the same way. Until the next time, Kind regards, Luka, Hotel Manager Team of Hotel Capitano

This small hotel is located in the center of the world, but LITERALLY, look at the map. We spent a wonderful 7 days here, the hotel is small, the rooms are large, spacious and in a stone style. The pool is perfect, you get beach towels to use for free! The service is fantastic, everyone is always willing to recommend a restaurant and help you find your way in the nearby old towns of Kotor, Perast, Budva. We will definitely return to this hotel when we visit Montenegro. Thank you all!

Don't be fooled by the first impression. The Captain is right in front of the departure of the small ferries that go back and forth to the other part of the gulf. You climb a few steps of ancient stairs and enter a small jewel clinging to the rock. A few very well-kept and well-furnished rooms. Efficient bathrooms. Excellent linen. Breakfast is taken on the terrace next to a small and pleasant swimming pool. The products are of quality and it is possible to order à la carte. The staff and the property are the real added value of the inn. Kind, thoughtful and multi-lingual. We had such a good time entering Montenegro that we also took advantage of it when leaving. If you can, with a correct surcharge, ask for the suite. Is worth!
