Detailed Reviews
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in Czech Republic. Its very important, that Hotel Royal Golf is not directly in Karlovy Vary, but about 5 miles from it. But to reach the hotel "in the middle of nowhere" you will need to go threw beautiful river area behind Karlovy Vary, which must be very nice during summer as well as it is during the winter. Hotel itself is quite stunning. It looks more like residence then hotel. Smaller size, no more than 30 rooms (incredible space !) beautiful decoration in rooms as well as downstairs on reception. The hotel was just under reconstruction, some Russians own it (who else in Karlovy Vary :)) and they are doing huge SPA and wellness in the hotel. You will not believe the prices. That much low ? Incredible. 50 euro per night. In beautiful room with great bed and fantastic view from the hill the hotel stands on. Not much of a parking, bud it will be there during the time. No rush from the city, but chance to walk around and catch some fresh air. Beautiful experience. Will be back again. Luxury as much as Pupp or Imperial, not so huge (more familiar) nad much cheaper ! Great !

This was our second visit. Beautiful, quiet location right next to a lovely golf course. Last year we stayed in the dependance, this year we stayed in the main building, because they had built a new spa and fitness center which was included in the price but for which you paid extra if in the dependance. Upon check in we found that had changed.
Do not stay here if you have any problem doing stairs! No elevators but many, many stairs in the main building...8 to front door,2 to second door, 6 to lobby, 35 to room, 19 to dining room, 21 to changing area/massage rooms in spa and 23 down to pool. Not for some one who is due for knee surgery.
Not much English spoken except for dining room help. Food was pretty good.

We had the most enjoyable stay at this hotel. The room was very spacious, clean and quiet. Our view was unbelievable and if you are looking to stay out of the town of Karlovy Vary for a bit of pece and quiet then this is the place. Very stylishly decorated and although we did not even go near rhe golf course it was still very relaxing. The staff was very friendly and best of all was the very reasonable price/night. The 15 min train travel to and from Karlovy Vary was not a problem at all as the traisn were very reliable. An excellen choice and highly recommended. Click this hotel for a stay and pick Room 23.

We booked and paid for 4 nights and even though we did not get a refund or discount - we fled first thing next morning!
I am not entirely sure how to explain or even describe our horrifying experience in this dump, but I will do my best to prevent others from enduring this obscene nightmare..
Let us start with the good things, shall we?
Our waiter was absolutely amazing ❤️
The view.
We saw a squirrel.
Now, what went so terribly wrong?
At first glance it seemed like such a lovely place with beautiful nature surrounding the “small castle”. Peacefull and quiet. But soon the cracks started showing at the surface and boy those cracks became deep.
The woman who checked us in (and out the very next morning) seemed like a museum guard. She was strict, arrogant and her english was extremely bad - when we did not seem to understand what she said, she made us feel like complete morons and seemed annoyed.
Oh well, we have dealt with rude staff before, so no biggie.. If that had been the only problem, fine. But as you may already have guess - it was not. Far from it!
Our room was dirty and it smelled, even though they tried to cover it up with some cheap cherry airfreshener. Our minibar was empty, wet and not clean. Our toilet had skidmarks, our bathtub was not cleaned either.. The building we lived in (the anneks next door to “the castle”) was full of dirt and falling apart.
Also smelling 🤢
The wellness area was kinda new and modern, but 1 of the spas was out of service and 2 out of 3 saunas was not functioning. When we asked about it later, she simply said that today 1 is working - tomorrow all 3. Hmm odd?
Nothing really worked at the pool/spa. Buttons did not work and it actually felt like a bad public swimmingpool.. The showers were impossible to get the right temperature from - either it was ice cold og scolding..
Oh yeah FYI: Saunas are only available 4 hours a day. I really dont know why...
Breakfast! Seemed okay, even though my coffee mug was dusty.. Tried to locate some coffee, but all I could find was a cheap nescafé machine. When I asked the waiter (not the same from the night before) he spoke poorly english, but explained that for regular coffee, he would charge extra cash. What the h***?! Breakfast included but not coffee??
This place is a joke.....
Me and my husband desided to check out and maybe get our money back, since this was far from what we paid for. Reception should have been open from 07.30-22.00 but no one was there and no one answered the phone either.
A maid tried calling, but nothing either. Then the maintenance guy (I think?) Peter shoved up and he tried calling “that” woman telling her the situation and that we wanted to leave. He said she would be there in 30 minutes.
She shoved up over 1 hour later, strolling around, no urgency what so ever and then asked what the problem was while sending us a fake smile.. We told her polite and then she just shook her shoulders, looked indifferent at us and said: “Well that is your choice - no refund. You read the information when you booked the room”.
All I could say was, at this surely wasnt what we payed for at all and started listing up our issues.
She just laughed in our faces and said “GOODBYE.”
I travel a lot, but this is by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had!
This is my gift to all of my fellow tripadvisor’s: S T A Y A W A Y ! ! !

The place is more like abandoned as we have to drive more than 5 Km to buy something. A walk along the river-side is a nice thing to do and will be a memorable one. On the whole, the stay was nice and pleasant at the Hotel.

No, no, no, no, no, no ... I don’t know where to start with this hotel experience... watch the photos and read the following before booking, please.
The conclusion: DON’T go there!!! I’m serious, spend your money elsewhere!
Cheap or luxury hotel?
First of all, the hotel should be a luxurious resort, with golf, wellness and art, but all of this just falls to ground and leaves you with a feeling of being ripped off. It is not even worth half of what they charge...
Russia.
Everybody at the hotel is Russian. The hotel manager, and only receptionist, does not speak much English or German. She was really strict and came across a bit bossy right from the start - even to us as guests. Not the service you would expect from a resort or high standard hotel.
The room.
Our room where located in a building across from the main Castle looking house. This other house was not maintained at all. The room was dark, with yellow walls and dark carpets - it just seemed so grim and nasty. The smell was the worst part about the room. It was tried covered up with a freshener, but this just made it even worse. On top of this there were dust in the windows. The bed was the only nice thing in the room. The mini bar was an empty fridge - nothing at all, even though the hotel info book said otherwise, but that was the case with several things.
Breakfast is important.
The coffee was Nescafé, which for me isn’t real coffee. If you wanted real coffee it would cost you about 50 CHK for each cup. The chef, who also was in charge the service at breakfast, didn’t speak English. He mostly spoke to himself in an unknown language - seemed a bit odd. Not the breakfast you would expect from a resort or high standard hotel.
Restaurant was okay, but the toilets were disgusting! Okay, the men’s toilet door wouldn’t close - the door was so crooked, that it was laughable. The smell was just old urine. The toilet was not cleaned, please see photo so you know I’m not overdramatizes. This sums up the experience so well.
The Wellness.. yes, it was newer, but that is not enough. 1 out of 3 saunas was working. 1 out of 2 spas was working. In the pool, the accessories didn’t work for most of the time (the massage bubbles, the massage spring etc.) - This is just not good enough! Jesus, I mean.. come on!!
The manager, oh dear...
The absolutely worst part of the experience by far. And the first things I have mentioned aren’t great. She couldn’t speak English or German well, but we managed to communicate for most parts. After breakfast, we tried to reach her at the reception, but she wasn’t there. Nobody was there.. for 3,5 hours we waited. The reception was supposed to open, at 7.30 - nobody. Again at 8.00, 9.00, 10.00... NO ONE! At 10.45 she came. Keep in mind the reception opens at 7.30 to 22.00. She runs on her on schedule I guess.. When we told her about the above mentioned things she didn’t seem to care at all. She just said ‘Your choice and like we were the ones who where completely wrong.. this went on for a couple of minutes. We had booked 4 nights, after the 1 night and arrogant and rude behavior of the manager we packed our stuff and left. No refund, nothing.
Don’t go there.

Just another "fine" example of how do Russian staff (owners?) of this hotel do business. Be aware:
We arrived to the property of the hotel in the middle of the day. Man at front desk told us he doesn't see any booking for my name (even though Booking.com sent me a confirmation the other day) and the hotel is fully booked.
All of the sudden his "big boss" appears, saying that he's got rooms in another building and he asked if we'd like to see them. We decided to take a look. It was a building 200 meters from the hotel, not like on the booking pictures. Super convenient to march there and back for breakfast or whenever you'd like to reach your car! It is especially wonderful in bad weather.
The room had a bad smell and wasn't prepared, it was also super cold (they didn't heat it because nobody lived there). The building was surrounded not by beautiful cut grass fields (like those surrounding the main buildings), but by some rural houses where usual people lived with their gardens growing vegetables or something, with bricks, wooden desks and garbage laying around - usual rural stuff, it's even visible on google maps: 50.1754872,12.83975. Awesome substitution of a 100 EUR room.
We rejected. The man argued that the room is identical. The room was different, the building too. He was pushing us to take that room and he didn't want to accept their fault and do a proper replacement. Next day they tried to charge me full amount of money I supposed to pay (~200 EUR). Brilliant!
So good we didn't stay!

I am writing this review seating right in the hotel room. The hotel is gorgeous. It has all you can imaging when you think about small family castle. It is a peace of the architecture. You can enjoy marvelous view on the hotel when you approaching it already. It is nicely visible from the road, staying above trees, like a small ship in the forest ocean. The hotel stays on a side of small mountain, next to lovely, elegantly planned golf club. The hotels beauty is well emphasized by the landscape, with a small river, mountains and curly, rather antique railroad. The hotel is well restored outside and inside. The designer is definitely talented, he or she did a great job – there is not a single thing, where most demanding eye would find any mistake. It is one piece of visual and style harmony.
I envision the main clients being sportive, enjoying the nature, maybe even playing golf and with desire to relax and enjoy own time in the wellness area. If you belong to this category, you will definitely enjoy your stay in this hotel. It has several and very different saunas, steam bath, nice and rather spacious swimming pool, training facilities and reach set of wellness services. The massage was just great.
Speaking about rooms it can be described very easy: stylish, spacious and well equipped.
Services is also nice, ladies at the reception are very kind and ready to address clients’ needs, in the same time you feel yourself at home because you do not see anyone who makes your life at the hotel so pleasant.
Indeed, as it was mentioned by other guests, hotel is located a bit outside of the Karlovy Vary. It is about 8-12 minutes by car to the center. The road is nice, going around small lake with pleasant views and even one restaurant on the way to Karlovy Vary. If you do not have a car, you can use a train, which brings you to the main station and back, just be sure you check the schedule - it has different frequency during the rush hour and during the day.
The food is the only one topic where hotel might perform better. The breakfast is fine for such small hotel, but the dinner is something you might wish to be different. One day, when we have ordered a dinner for our group about 15 people and in advance, it was fine, but next evening, when we were along who has come down to the restaurant, the quality vs price was not performing up to the style.
Other things to think about before booking this hotel: there is no elevator, remember, it is a historic place, you would need to use stairs to get up and down. Hotel has sufficient number of parking slots. It is located in the forest, meaning it is quite there.
If you would ask me whether I would like to stay there once again? The answer would be definitely yes.
If you have any preferences - just ask the hotel before booking. I did it and our family has 100% match to our wishes. In general, what I could see all rooms are nice, and all are different. The room in the castle would be nicer.

We were on our way from Bayreuth to Prague and stopped for the night. We were sure the hotel is close to Karlovy Vary but it turned out that the hotel we chose was in the middle on nowhere (the city could be around the corner but we did not see it).
The hotel is and old fashioned place with old style everything.
We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel as we were tired. Both were good.
The room we received was not cleaned but after some negotiations we received an alternative room which was fine.
Down sides:
Old fashioned. Isolated. No cleaning personnel at evenings. No Technical staff either.
Upsides:
Old fashioned. Isolated. Good food.
