My husband & I have just returned from Italy and cannot speak highly enough of our accommodation, host Giuseppe and the lovely little town of Carpignano. We had a lovely big apartment very clean, towels changed & apartment cleaned every couple of days, bed changed weekly. Giuseppe is an excellent host, will help in anyway he can. Breakfast was cereal, bread, crossiants, eggs, ham, cheeses, fruit, jams & marmalade. There was also a selection of biscuits & tarts, orange juice, grapefruit, water, coffee or tea. Giuseppe has also recently started, private dining experiences, which we had one evening and was fabulous. Everything was bought and cooked by Giuseppe in his beautiful courtyard with wood fired stove and barbecue. We were welcomed with Prosecco. Then a selection of Salento hams, cheeses, bread and focaccia which was made by Giuseppe and served with white wine. This was followed by orecchiette pasta, with clams and prawns in a beautiful sauce again made by our wonderful host and served with ros'e wine. Our main course was magnificent, beautifully cooked beef which had been marinated in Salento's finest olive oil from local farmer, with rosemary. This was served with aubergine's courgettes, mushrooms and a lovely red wine. Finally Giuseppe made melon sorbet which was so nice and refreshing. It was an excellent night we had the lovely company with Alison & Mark too. Giuseppe is a perfectionist in everything he does and we would recommend his accommodation, food, dining experience to anyone. Thank you Giuseppe for making our holiday perfect. We wish you continued success with your guesthouse and apartments and very best wishes and good luck with your new adventure in Italian dining experiences.…
We absolutely loved staying in our apartment which was part of the accommodation that Giuseppe and Susanna offered us after much turmoil about where to book for the second half of our trip to Puglia! The apartment isn’t as charming as the others perhaps, but it’s setting in Carpignano Salentino is just so charming that it makes up for it! It was clean, spacious and had everything we needed! The added bonus was that we could have breakfast included which Giuseppe cooked and prepped with love. The table was set and we really loved having that option! Nearby Otranto is so beautiful and a must visit! We also visited Baia dei Turci after an epic and beautiful walk!!! And Lecce! Which was so much bigger than we imagined. I feel we chose the perfect place from which to explore the region. It was lovely to escape to our little and beautiful village after a day adventuring! We would love to return and book more in advance to get one of the more characterful apartments! Grazie Mille Giuseppe! Especially for your first ever breakfast cake! They were yummy! X…
A beautiful room in an idyllic setting away from the hustle and bustle of town. We really enjoyed our stay, the room was sparkling clean, the bed comfortable and good pressure in the shower! Giuseppe is a great host and on hand whenever you needed him to recommend a quiet beach, a good restaurant or arrange a taxi! You aren’t too far from Otranto for a visit, but I would advise you to hire a car to explore the region. Would definitely visit again!
Guiseppe is a lovely host. He is truly dedicated to his craft, and our daily breakfast is amazing: fresh fried eggs with thick golden yolks, ham and cheese, fresh croissants and baguette with three types of jam, juice, hot espresso, hot apple tartlets, yogurt, and quite possibly anything you could ask for. He is knowledgeable about the area and can give you excellent advice. The accommodations are second to none. The sheets are soft, the water is hot, the areas are temperature-controlled. We rented the second and third apartments, which ended up giving us a whole home to ourselves with a private courtyard. It was an oasis.
We rented all five suites for a week in July 2018 after viewing the website and reading other very positive reviews. We came from three different countries and what a wonderful venue it turned out to be, full of character, charm and pleasure. Loads of space for privacy or impromptu meals or drinks. We must make mention of Suzanna and Giuseppe who speak numerous languages and could not have been more helpful in addressing any issues. We had a welcome dinner they catered and it was quite a banquet. They can certainly cook, a fact confirmed by the more than adequate daily breakfasts to suit every palate or background. What a pleasure it was! Not much happens in Carpignano Salentino but it’s a lovely area and a great base at which to set up for day trips. So much of Puglia has issues with parking, but you can park a few metres away. The town has an ATM, and a few coffee lounges, bars and a supermarket a short drive away. One is not captive to the rural Masseria monopoly that some find themselves bound to. Restaurants in the town or nearby are sufficiently numerous and the hosts can advise on this point. Go for it! It’s not everyday a 500year Old accommodation is available and certainly not one so thoughtfully and meticulously set out and managed.…
