Enjoy your stay in Spitz!
Barock-Landhof Burkhardt is located in the centre of Spitz, next to the railway station. The building is beautiful, dating to the 17th century, with a lovely garden. The staff are very friendly. The only problem was that we reserved the cheapest room, which looked nice in the photos but in reality was rather sterile, with small windows, a colourless, uncomfortable couch from the 90s, and a dining table that was partly broken. Given the lovely Biedermeier furniture elsewhere in the building, it is a pity that the pieces in our room couldn't be replaced with something else. The room is also very bright in the morning. Unlike the rest of the hotel, the atmosphere was not one of being in a baroque hotel in the Wachau. In hindsight, I regret not having upgraded, as my impression was that the other rooms were much nicer.…
We stayed 1 night at the Barock Landhoff in Spits Austria. This is the best hotel we visited. Very large room, Gizella the owner was so nice and helpfull.. Breakfast was very good. Very recomnded Benny
We have had a wonderfull stay in this beautifull residence. Very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff & hosts Gisela and Michael. Room was outstanding with all you need. Very good bed for sleeping well👍 You find this residence in a beautifull ' wine' area where you can do a lot of things like hiking, biking and ofcourse wining & dining ! We will definitly come back again.
This delightful hotel was once the local abbey's grape-gathering center for the famous wines produced here, and retains the historic flavor and gracious charm while updating the rooms to a high standard. The grounds are almost magically lovely and peaceful: vines bookended with rose bushes, apricot and pear and walnut trees set in a parklike setting. Our rooms were spotless, quiet, and comfortable, overlooking the garden in one case and with a glimpse of the Danube from the other. In the same family for some seven generations, this inn is impeccably run with friendly and helpful staff. (Plus house-made preserves and eggs cooked to order at breakfast!) Great location in a lovely town.
A stone's throw from the banks of the Danube and with a backdrop of steep hilly vineyards, a long gravel drive leads past fruit trees and the garden to the 500-year-old Barock Landhof Burkhardt. The house is beautifully restored inside, with every comfort and Gisela and Michael Burkhardt and their team make you feel very welcome. Our room was very spacious, beautifully decorated and the bed was huge and very comfortable. We had a good sized shower room and separate toilet, with toiletries, hairdryer, magnifying mirror, slippers etc. provided. Armchairs, a TV and good wifi, flower boxes on the windowsills and an antique crystal chandelier added to the charm. Breakfast is excellent with abundant meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, eggs cooked to order and jams made by Gisela from garden fruits. During the day you can help yourself to coffee, teas and fruit and there's a selection of wine for guests to serve themselves. Michael and Gisela are experts on the local area (the house has been in Michael's family for 7 generations) and they can tell you all you need to know on getting around, what to see, where to eat, wineries etc. The whole house is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean, and it feels as if no-one has ever used your room before. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience and we look forward to returning to see the house at different times of the year. There was a huge cherry tree outside one of our windows that must be seen in the spring! …
This feels like your own private residence and the team at this boutique hotel is welcoming and caring. The rooms are spacious, light filled and tastefully furnished with every comfort. Its a quiet location and the comfy bed warrants a good sleep. The view to the steep vineyards and there own little park was more than pleasant. A great place to stay and explore the beautiful Wachau.
We travelled through Austria, visiting Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna. Between Salzburg and Vienna we found a romantic, family owned, little Barockhotel. Excellent 6* service and greatly renovated rooms in calm location at the edge of the Donau river. Lot of tours are organized by the owner who serves excellent vines and self made spirits. Never met before so good hospitality. Rooms were clean, amazing breakfast buffet (try the self made Marillen Marmelade), fantastic view, spacious garden with old trees to relax in the shadow and comfortable lounge terrace. Not expected were little things such as Eco power to load e.g your car free of charge. All in all expectations were overachieved to large extent and we'll book again for next year.
I stayed here for 2 nights with my wife and 1.5 year old daughter. This is a family run B&B with lots of character. The place is huge...with a huge garden..and a vineyard. The driveway feels like one is entering a grand home. The rooms n property is maintained extremely nicely...very clean n beautiful. The rooms have a kitchenette, TV area and then the bed room. The rooms have a beautiful view. The hotel is 5 min walk from the bus stop- we d reached there by bus from melk. In fact, we d come from vienna- with 2 train changes to melk and then a bus ride from melk to Spitz bus stop. It took us nearly 2 hours for this whole journey from Vienna haubtbahnof. The ticket for the entire journey cost around EUR 20per person, which was very reasonable and is available at Vienna train stn. Coming back to property- friendly staff. Really cozy property. Beautiful terrace breakfast area with lovely hot chocolate! They give a key to room n main gates so one can leave n enter as n when one wants. The other common areas have a piano, beautiful pictures hanging on walls, ..one feels like living a royal life. The garden has lots of Apple n apricot trees and we had those fruits which was great! The owners guides us to a nice day tour to Krems with a winzer Krems vineyard tour, bus timings, mall at Krems, costs etc. They were very helpful n thorough. The bus drive to melk took us through a very scenic route n took less than an hour. Spitz is really small place. The restaurants outside the hotel shut by 9pm latest. Good pizzas available in the nearby restaurants. There is a small shop at a petrol stn nearby which has some general items like chocolates, cookies etc. The Danube river is a 2 min walk from the hotel n has some amazing views n cycling n walking areas. Spitz is a very small village to relax n enjoy nature. Must stay at this hotel to enjoy greenery n peace. The area around has a some beautiful small shops n a cathedral. …
Everything you want for a relaxing stay in the Wachau area. Histotical building rejuvenated with taste. located in a park. Beautiful and well appointed room, comfortable bed, roomy shower and bathroom. Quiet location, nice views, great service by a friendly team. Beautiful terrace to relax in the sun.
We visited Wachau during the last weekend in September and we'll be back! Spitz is a lovely little town in the center of the wine producing region and Landgasthof Burkhardt is a MUST for everyone travelling there. Situated conveniently in the center of Spitz and run by the Burkhardt's themselves, this Landgasthof surpasses all expectations: great rooms (we in the fig room), yummie breakfast and plenty of things to do. The very best though is the garden - not just A garden, but a fabulous baroque garden where you're allowed to pick whatever you want right from the tree!! Figs, pears and apples were in season and there were even some raspberries left hanging on the bush... delightful and highly recommended!
