From the moment we stepped into the lobby where the Somatheeram experience began at the front desk. This is a magical bit of heaven in Kerala. This is an Ayervedic resort, so I saw some reviews cutting on the food, and the funny people in green robes looking like zombies walking

When we arrived, we were utterly shattered on all levels. We were welcomed so warmly by the truly incredible staff - special mention to Praveen who could not have taken more care of us throughout our whole 2 week stay. My Mum was recovering from spinal surgery and though there

I went as had recently been diagnosed with diabetes 2. When I arrived I had a blood test and it confirmed the high sugar levels. After two weeks of special diet (not buffet) and treatments everyday, my blood sugar level was normal. Fantastic

Somatheeram does an outstanding job completely submerging it’s visitors into Ayurveda; best to brief yourself before arriving 😉. It is helpful to have a light understanding of what Ayurveda means to get a better understanding of what an Ayurvedic Resort will be like. A relaxed

This is my third time at this property. This visit was taking 12 people who have never been to India on retreat. Somatheeram is such a wonderful haven and landing place for people to adjust to India and get grounded. The staff, the food, the location, the treatments all make it

People do get treated there but you usually have to stay for 4 weeks for any treatment to be effective. They do have good doctors but you have to ask for one, otherwise they will just give you whoever is free. June/July will be very hot in Kerala.

If you are not going to have Ayurvedic treatments, then simply don’t go! It’s a rip off. The beach is a public toilet. Really!!

is there any timing for swimming pool? and swimming costume is compulsory?
There are actually 3 Resorts at the same place with the name Somatheeram. 2 of them belong to the same group, the third one is independent and under german/indian ownership. The other 2 are split in one directly on the beach and on up on the cliff. I stayd in the one up on the cliff. This one I can recommend if you are looking for really good intense treatments. If you are looking more for relaxing and wellness with some treatments I would recommend the resort direct on the beach... The costs of the treatments differ a bit, but count with something between 500 and 1000 Rupies, what means something around € 9-12. Tips are also welcome. Best Sibylle
