Stayed in one of the Unity College Sky Lodge cabins. Plenty of room and beautiful location. Nice A frame style cabin with one bedroom and two loft spaces up top. Worked out perfectly for a nice visit to the Jackman area. The staff who ran the lodge was very friendly and polite.
My husband and I were traveling around Maine looking at Fall foliage. The Sky Lodge was the perfect stop. We were told it was the quiet time at the lodge and it was perfect for us. It was a simple room, but comfortable and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat in the Fall, this is it.
We visited Sky Lodge in late September 2021. The trees were just beginning to turn and a chill was in the air. At the top of a hill just north of Jackman on the Old Canada Road (Route 201) we caught our first glimpse of the lodge, its white-painted, cut-log ends protruding from the corners of the building. The setting is grand. The lodge sits in the middle of acres of open lawns, by an old grassy runway that used to bring guests after the lodge's opening in 1929. The views are stunning. You feel as though you are on top of the world. Entering the lodge after being welcomed by a carved wooden moose you are taken back in time. The lodge's massive wooden beams and staircases are authentic. Someone has taken very good care of the place for the past century. When we visited, the lodge itself was only available for groups that could book most or all of its rooms and Casey, the onsite manager, was having difficulty finding hires due to the pandemic. We stayed in a nice room in the annex attached to the lodge. It had front and back doors and included a kitchenette. We could imagine cross country skiing from the back door and keeping our skis on the porch. Getting food was no problem. Jackman center has a couple of options less than 2 miles down route 201. There are several trails in the woods behind the lodge we would love to ski on. Among the other attractions are: a barn full of old cars and another containing model railroads. This is an eclectic place. If you want a memorable experience, you can't go wrong at Unity College's Sky Lodge.…
My wife and I stayed at the Cedar Cabin at Sky Lodge in September 2021 for 5 days and 4 nights. The cabin was a great place to sleep and spend evenings. We used the cabin as a base to spend the days looking for wildlife and hiking. We saw 4 moose (early mornings) and lots of Turkeys and Beavers. On the one day that it rained, the cabin was a great place to relax and even sit on the porch. I would recommend the Sky Lodge cabins if you want a place to get away and enjoy the outdoors.
I stayed last year at Trails End and this year at Mountain View rental cabins at Sky Lodge with my family of nine. Love the location, and the atmosphere. My grandkids had a lot of fun we walked the hiking trail near the lodge, we did a lot of the ponds were we were the only ones around. The lodge has a train and car museum, unfortunately we’re closed due to COVID-19. For a gray experience at a lodge that was built in 1908 I recommend trying this wonderful place, it doesn’t have all the amenities but the atmosphere makes up for it.
We booked this place because we attended a wedding 20 mins away and we live over two hours away from this area. We weren’t much worried about amenities as we were basically just going to sleep there after the wedding and leave in the morning. Also, it was the last option for us to book in the area even a month or two out so I didn’t pay attention to any amenities again. I’ve never written a bad review on a hotel or restaurant but I’ve never been so unhappy with an experience that I paid good money for before. When we returned from the wedding to just go to sleep, our took was so hot that I could barely tolerate it. There was no ACs, and not even a fan for us to use in our room. We slept with the windows open which didn’t help a bit and I was awake all night long tossing and turning and sweating. Also should mention there was no fridge in our room or cups for water and I literally had to drink water from my hand from the faucet. Very disappointed and never slept so poorly in a hotel before. This place would be beautiful in the winter but just did not make the cut on a hot summer day.…
Great cabin (Cedar), VERY clean and comfortable. Bed was comfortable. Kitchenette was reasonably equipped, but no cutting board. The bathroom linens were brilliant white and super soft. The bbq grill is a Weber; great quality and cooks up a perfect steak.
I realize winter is the time to visit this place but will say the lodge in the summer was a quiet oasis, only the creaking floors broke the silence. We loved our time here, wish we stayed more nights. Went kayaking on Attean Pond. Finding a local restaurant that was open and serving Sun night - Mon was tough as the lodge wasn't operating at full capacity. Still we didn't have an expectation that we'd be able to eat on site.
Stayed here for a wedding and wished I had stayed a few days! People are nice and helpful. Lodge was cozy, rustic and very charming! Area is beautiful and lots to do outdoors! I will be back for sure!!
Don't miss dinner at the Sky Lodge. Service was friendly, fast, and skilled. Food was the best! Scenic view from the dining room is wonderful. The auto and model train museums are a treasure with enthusiastic guides. Cabins were well stocked, comfortable and clean.
