Our countryside hotel is located just 1.5 hours from Reykjavik and a stone´s throw from the crystal clear river of Straumfjarðará on the mighty Snæfellsnes Peninsula, West Iceland. Our cozy coffee shop and charming restaurant is popular with both locals and tourists and all rooms have a cottage feel with access directly into the spacious hotel gardens. All rooms come with complimentary WIFI, Smart TV, Nespresso coffee and panoramic views over the picturesque Elliðatindar mountain range. We bake fresh bread and cakes on site each day and use fresh seasonal ingredients from local farmers to create mouthwatering dishes served daily in our restaurant and coffee shop, known locally as the Vegamót (meaning crossroads in Icelandic).

We were so impressed with the excellent service at this small and cosy hotel. We needed a later check in which was no problem and when we arrived, we were given a map of the area and were given lots of helpful advice and ideas of where to go and what to do (the next day, we used these recommendations and had the nicest day we had had in our whole stay in Iceland). The room was very comfortable and warm. We loved the breakfast in the mornings. Good amount of choice and everything was so tasty. My partner loved the smoked salmon and I really enjoyed the pastries. Beautiful, secluded location so if the lights were to come out, you’d see them from outside your room (we didn’t get lucky unfortunately!).

This little hotel is perfectly situated to explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The rooms were very nice, free wifi, breakfast included. The rooms even had lovely hand made wool blankets to snuggle up in. The staff walked us to the room to make sure we knew how to operate everything & had everything we needed. The rooms have names instead of numbers. They had also prepared maps of the area with hand written notes showing the hilights of the area & where they were. In the room was a binder with more information on the area, how to get to different sights, and fun facts about Iceland. Did you know that there are more sheep than people in Iceland?

We stayed two days at this location and found all aspects exceeding our expectations. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served vs buffet style, with tables assigned based on our room name. Dinners were delicious and wait staff attentive. Best of all is that they called out all the key points of interest on the peninsula provided in a detailed map.

So glad we stayed here. The location allowed us to have the perfect amount of time to see the Snaefellsness sights in a clockwise direction in one day (next night in Stykkishólmur). We loved the quiet countryside location. The room was very clean, and breakfast was delicious. It was served in courses with a personal touch. After breakfast the receptionist spent several minutes with us writing out her sightseeing tips on a map for us to take and answering questions. Truly appreciated! Also - due to a hectic travel schedule, we asked for an after-hours check-in and the owner was kind enough to meet us and make that happen. Would definitely stay again!

Last weekend was the 4th time me and my family stayed at Hótel Rjúkandi. It is not a given to get fantastic service, great food and smiling and helpful staff all the time, but that's the case for us and that's why we always come back. The chef is always trying something different and he uses the fresh food he gets around the area and it's always delicious. The hotel is perfectly placed, it does not take long to drive to the most beautiful places Snæfellsnes has to offer. I can not recommend this hotel enough and it's wonderful staff. Thank you so much for everything last weekend. We will be back for sure.

Upon arrival we had to bear a not warranted 10minute monologue about the best sights in the peninsula. The room was large, the bath widely wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately the mattreses were far too soft so we had a bad night here and pain in the back all the next day. The breakfast was awful. No bufet, but a set meal with sweetended (!) skyr, The whole bread served was a toasted (!) bagel. I couldn't stomach that. Definitely not to be recommended.

From the moment we arrived the service was brilliant and you felt really welcomed with fantastic tips for the local area. The food in the restaurant was delicious with excellent home made cakes too. We especially enjoyed the amazing breakfast which featured several courses brought to you - a nice break from the traditional buffet. Great location too - loved it thank you

Hotel Rjúkandi is definitely worth a visit if you are going to the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Whether you are staying at the hotel or just stopping for a coffee break, the experience is sublime! The staff is very welcoming and makes you feel at home. They are super helpful with tips and the best guides what to see around the peninsula. The coffee and cakes are addicting and the dinner menu delicious with local Icelandic dishes. I highly recommend this place and we will return here next time we are in Iceland!

This is a great choice for when you are on the Snaefellsnes peninsula. This not an upscale hotel by any mean, but it is comfortable, great location for traveling around the peninsula and the team can not do enough for you. Thank you for a lovely visit.
