Our countryside hotel is located just 1.5 hours from Reykjavik and a stone´s throw from the crystal clear river of Straumfjarðará on the mighty Snæfellsnes Peninsula, West Iceland. Our cozy coffee shop and charming restaurant is popular with both locals and tourists and all rooms have a cottage feel with access directly into the spacious hotel gardens. All rooms come with complimentary WIFI, Smart TV, Nespresso coffee and panoramic views over the picturesque Elliðatindar mountain range. We bake fresh bread and cakes on site each day and use fresh seasonal ingredients from local farmers to create mouthwatering dishes served daily in our restaurant and coffee shop, known locally as the Vegamót (meaning crossroads in Icelandic).

We stayed here for one night while traveling the Ring Road. Great location, clean, comfortable and good-sized room with very comfortable beds. The young woman who checked us in was very friendly and literally walked us to our room. She also gave us a tip on a nearby hidden waterfall that we we visited the following morning. Dinner was very good and the portions generous. Breakfast had plentiful buffet options (standard for Iceland) but all great quality and the late' was the best we had while in Iceland. Would definitely go back again.

Hotel Rjukandi was fantastic - we made use of the long day to stay out late on the peninsula and the hotel happily accommodated our late check-in. We phoned in and we were cheerily greeted, escorted to our room, given a great point of interest map, and an explanation of the name of our room.

We stayed in a lovely room tastefully and simply decorated with two twin beds combined into a queen. The curtains amply blocked out the 20 hours of daylight so we were able to get to sleep around 11. The tap water was incredibly fresh, the shower water warm and there was a large pillow selection.

Breakfast was included and served at tables labeled by room name. It started with some Skyr, fresh fruit tea and coffee. Followed by a bagel served with butter, jam, ham and cheese, tomato, cucumber and a hard boiled egg. Everything was good and prepared us for the day. All in all it was a great, simple experience in a fantastic location.

Exiting the nationa park, we spent a night at Hotel Rjúkandi before Reykjavik and left satisfied. Read on for details.

Located on the highway, the Hotel Rjúkandi offers both accommodations and a solid restaurant for dinner (and the included breakfast.) The rooms were comfortable sized for two people with an actual queen bed (and not two small beds pushed together.) There was a desk, TV and many usable electric outlets. The WiFi was solid. There was no visible way to control the temperature in the room, something that concerned us as the evening and night were cold.

The included breakfast was okay consisting of set menu that was served in courses to the table. While it was filling, it consisted of items I would never select from a list of options.

If we return to this part of Iceland, I would not hesitate to stay here again though I would look at other options.

So glad we stayed here. The location allowed us to have the perfect amount of time to see the Snaefellsness sights in a clockwise direction in one day (next night in Stykkishólmur).

We loved the quiet countryside location. The room was very clean, and breakfast was delicious. It was served in courses with a personal touch. After breakfast the receptionist spent several minutes with us writing out her sightseeing tips on a map for us to take and answering questions. Truly appreciated!

Also - due to a hectic travel schedule, we asked for an after-hours check-in and the owner was kind enough to meet us and make that happen. Would definitely stay again!

This little hotel is perfectly situated to explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The rooms were very nice, free wifi, breakfast included. The rooms even had lovely hand made wool blankets to snuggle up in. The staff walked us to the room to make sure we knew how to operate everything & had everything we needed. The rooms have names instead of numbers. They had also prepared maps of the area with hand written notes showing the hilights of the area & where they were. In the room was a binder with more information on the area, how to get to different sights, and fun facts about Iceland. Did you know that there are more sheep than people in Iceland?

We had a pleasant one night stay in Hotel Snaefellness. It had a great location by the main road, but it was a quiet place with a view of the mountains. We had a good size room with TV and private bathroom. There was a tea kettle and selection of teas in the room. The bed was comfy and the whole place was clean. The dark curtains blocked the light well. The large parking was just in front of the hotel. Breakfast was included in the price, and it had a great selection including the smoked salmon and small pastries. We recommend this place when exploring Snaefellness peninsula.

We stayed two days at this location and found all aspects exceeding our expectations. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served vs buffet style, with tables assigned based on our room name. Dinners were delicious and wait staff attentive. Best of all is that they called out all the key points of interest on the peninsula provided in a detailed map.

Stayed here in September 2022. Staff were welcoming and helpful, the rooms were fine with comfortable beds and an adequate bathroom. Dinner was very good and reasonably priced, and the included breakfast - all cold dishes - provided a good variety of food (including smoked salmon and cream cheese). The coffee machine would have benefited from some instructions, however.

Hotel Snaefellness is a nice small, modern facility near the Snaefellness peninsula. Before our visit they provided a list of nearby interesting sites to consider visiting. That was a nice touch! We had an early dinner at their restaurant and the fish and chips with fresh cod was delicious! Breakfast the next morning included some outstanding fresh pastries. The curtains could not block that bright Icelandic “night”!

We were so impressed with the excellent service at this small and cosy hotel. We needed a later check in which was no problem and when we arrived, we were given a map of the area and were given lots of helpful advice and ideas of where to go and what to do (the next day, we used these recommendations and had the nicest day we had had in our whole stay in Iceland). The room was very comfortable and warm. We loved the breakfast in the mornings. Good amount of choice and everything was so tasty. My partner loved the smoked salmon and I really enjoyed the pastries. Beautiful, secluded location so if the lights were to come out, you’d see them from outside your room (we didn’t get lucky unfortunately!).
