Detailed Reviews
Relaxing stay. Great for a couple's weekend. Close to havelock north but nice and quiet, small pond, lots of birds to view. Fantastic bathroom and good facilities including a fire, comfy bed, balcony to read and relax on. We loved it.

My husband and I stayed with another couple at Ribbonwood Cottage over the Harvest Hawkes Bay Wine and Food Festival. While we enjoyed the lovely setting of the Cottages, the beautiful view and the peaceful surroundings, our experience was severely compromised by a cockroach infestation at the cottage.
We were unable to eat out on the balcony in the evening once the sun went down and the cockroaches made their presence felt in their dozens. They entered the cottage and crawled around inside in our bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and lounge area. This meant we had to close all the windows and doors and spray the entire cottage with fly spray.
Temperatures over this weekend were in the high 30s so having the cottage shut up like this, especially over night when we couldn't even open an window, was just about unbearable. There was also no air conditioning.
We understand that 'bush' cockroaches (the big ones which do not signify unsanitary conditions) are a part of life in the Hawkes Bay area and we don't expect not to see them at all, but the extent to which they have infested this accommodation was unacceptable.
This situation might have been redeemed if we felt our host had tried to sort it out for us, but our request for help over the weekend resulted merely in a can of fly spray being left for us outside the door to the cottage. We have subsequently been very disappointed by the owner's unsympathetic response to a written complaint from us. Such a pretty cottage and lovely setting demands a much higher quality of care and service for guests who pay well to stay in this accommodation.

+1
A delightful, gorgeous and romantic cottage in a semi-rural setting with with views of a landscaped garden and pond, surrounded by native plants. The cottage is situated five minutes drive from Havelock North. The cottage has been lovingly restored and the name "The Loveshack" says it all - the cottage has so comfortable, luxurious and unique and it made our stay extra special. The tasteful furnishings, quality linen and well equipped kitchen were superb. The decor was perfect for a cottage of this era - with some modern touches as well. The white washed furniture and floral wallpaper - with crisp white linen made our stay very comfortable. The bathroom is just perfect - shower that is great for two - and a a bath that has views of the paddock - open the door and there was a surprise every time - either a fantail or a friendly horse in the paddock. We will definitely be back - beats a motel everytime!! A thoughtful and welcome touch was a bottle of bubbly and a delicious treat in the fridge. Our hostess was available to answer questions and we give this a five star rating!

Over the last seven years, we stayed at Ribbonwood Cottages multiple times with family and friends. The cottages are beautifully designed, well equipped, quiet and perfectly located to explore the Hawkes Bay. The decks have got great views, but are very private allowing for relaxing brunches or BBQs. Overall, great accommodation. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Ribbonwood Cottage for 2 nights on our tour of New Zealand. We spent much time on the terrace enjoying the beautiful pond and beautiful grounds.. The kitchen was very clean and well-equipped.Jane had a lovely Cocktail Party one evening for all of her interesting guests from around the world and some neighbors. The finger-food was creative and very tasty. It was a nice experience with a totally mixed group of people.

Being regular visitors to HB there is no other place we would stay but Ribbonwood Cottages in particular the Love Shack, beautifully decorated and secluded down a nice quiet street this is a place where you can completely unwind and relax, my wife and I especially love laying down next to the man made small lake and just hanging out with nature and a wine, there’s free roaming chickens just cruising round, you’ll see horses sheep and stunning birds, plus your only a 3 min drive from Havelock North next time we hope to stay longer, thank you again Jane for looking after us can’t wait to return

Our second time to stay in the cottage and we still love it. one of the easiest most accomodating place in the area with amazing views in a nice quite neighbourhood that feels like your own home.
The owners thought of everything, even if the weather turns cold as it sometimes do, we had the fireplace set up and the wood outside waiting. an umbrella and lights. was great to feel welcomed.
the setup gives privacy as well as a great common area and is well spaced.
The owners were very understanding with our situation as we had to bring our dog with us and were happy to accomodate for her as well as providing dog bed, toys, brush etc.
We will definitely return back to this place next time.
Would recommend this lovely spot without a doubt in my heart.
